Okay so, I tried to download Return to Ostogar and it worked just fine, but it said I needed patch 1.05. Downloaded that with no issue, until I tried to install it. It says it cannot find Dragon Age Origins, and i must reinstall my game. Well, I refuse to do so because I will lose my games, as far as i know. Why is it doing this? I do not use steam, it is on my PC.

I'm unable to download the 1.05 patch. Keep getting time out errors when I try.

The BioWare gods finally allowed me to start downloading the patch. I'll give it a shot once it's finished and see what happens.

Thanks for fixing that horrible horrible slowdown bug. Now the game is actually playable for more than 30 mins at a time :)

The patch needs to be applied manually for all but Steam users.

I have the same problem. I'm still at 1.04, the game is set to update and everything. Are there any Steam users that have the new patch?

Opened a Steam ticket, got this response:

Thank you for contacting Steam Support.

Steam games are automatically updated, including this title.

If you are concerned that the most recent patch has not been released for the Steam version of a game, please contact the game's publisher.

Please let us know if you have any further questions or concerns.

Looking at the DA forums on Steam, some have the patch and some don't. Which makes me think it's a problem with Steam.

Is there any way the patch can be applied manually?

Not with Steam.

I recommend that anyone having issues with a Steam  version contact EA Customer Service and switch to the EA: Origins Store digital version.  Your account already has the authorization keys, and they can talk you through the switch.  You'll have to download it again, but at least you'll have a "clean" install in the end.

To get to them, use the "Support" link under "Help" at the bottom of the page, and choose "Ask a Game Advisor",
then look for the "Live Chat" option. Image IPB

The speculation on the Steam forums is that the patch is being moved for the original DA:O and Awakening but not the Ultimate Edition.  See: http://forums.steamp...=2613128&page=2

The solution appears to be: 1) Steam users need to band together and start knocking on Steam's door to figure out what's going on, or 2) switch to the EA Origin version, as suggested above.

Funny, i just decided to update and after the update it started asking for the DVD... And actually had to contact EA support who helped me perfectly! He said to make a backup of the Documents\\Bioware\\Dragon Age folder and uninstall using 'Revo' use the key in Origin Beta and reinstall again :P

Downloading now... but damn it's 27GB.... and patience aint my best feature :P (39% and counting...)

I can confirm that this seems to be the case. My DA:O-DDE copy is on 1.05 while my DA:O-UE copy is on 1.04. Both copies are on Steam, obviously.

We shouldnt have to do the EA switch since we bought the game via steam, this is just horrible customer service. Steam's support just tells me to write to EA, and their support doesnt work with some weird ass service not available error.

Since they sold us flawed copy they should make sure to fix the issue, i just got the dlc error after using them ok for quite long and none of the fixes seemed to work.

You are absolutely correct!  And since Steam are who sold you the "flawed copy", please take it up with them.
The EA Staff have no way to "make" Steam  do anything at all.
They have their own site with their own Customer Support systems: Image IPB
support.steampowered.com/kb_cat.php.

1.05 did not fix the issues with authentication for the dlc at least for me they didn't. If you need to uninstall the game and reinstall it...you're screwed. I can't get my dlc and I'm using the same email address that I used to register my game. My ea account shows no errors.  The installation is telling me I'm not authorized to install content that I've freakin paid for.  It is saying my emaill account is wrong?????????????????????????????  Yet I can log into this site and the ea site just fine?????????????????????????????????????????????????  The ea site patch page for Origins is only showing 1.03.   The collector's edition isn't even being supported anymore and you can't even find any help on the ea website for that game version.

Why did you guys change for dlc to be installed when you sign into the game and DA serves and signing into the Bioware Social Website you should just be able to go to your entitlements page and they should automatically start installing if you have the download previous purchased dlc to instantly install.  This used to work just fine.

Please make all origins dlc stand alone manual install just like the other dlc.  Bypass the daupdate installer all together like you did with Witch Hunt.  Also the new patch (1.05) notes also are not clear if 1.04 also still needs to be manually installed?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????  Did 1.04 get installed as well  with this new patch?  Completely and total lack of detailed information.   I've gone from Origins version 1 to patch 1.03 with 1.01 and 1.02 not even installed or showing and also no idea if 1.04 was even installed correctly and once you patch to 1.05 that is all the information that you get.  When I reinstalled Awakenings I did see the software unzip and install patch 1.03.

Bioware will you please make the older verisons of the patches available instead of removing them from this site. You guys did the same thing with NWN and I can't that game to reinstall either because the old patch versions are not available any longer.

My advice to anyone. Backup your program file folder and your Bioware folder in the documents section on your pc's before uninstalling, you basically can't use your dics that you paid for to reinstall. When new patches come out download them and make a backup copy incase you need the older patches.

Worst patch ever. No help from anyone.

Extrememly pissed off BioWare Customer.

Sorry you're having trouble.  Here are a couple of things to keep in mind:

1) This forum is for gamers to help other gamers.  Bioware does not do official tech support here.  For that, you need to go to help.ea.com.

2) There may be a very simple solution to your problem-- but in order for your fellow gamers to help you, you need to create a *new post* and include the basic game, OS, and hardware information outlined in the post called "READ FIRST", which is pinned towards the top of this forum.

3) This...

... is abosultely not true.  If your login information is not working in-game, it has nothing to do with a patch.  More likely, you are using a password with special characters ( the game only likes letters and numbers) or something else is screwed up with your computer.  Again, read the "READ FIRST" thread and create a new post.

It seems that 1.05 was once again pushed out to Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition on Steam as my copy just updated to 1.05 for me mere minutes ago.

Launched the game and everything seems to work out.

I got a hold of Chris Priestly, who contacted others in Bioware, who contacted Steam. Steam has corrected the issue on their end. Users may need to restart their Steam client before trying to apply the update.

Oh, it does make me happy to see this game getting love several years after it's been released. I think this warrants a re play.

1.05 fixed all DLC not working with my ultimate version from Origin. strange that it's not included with the download considering it's nearly 27GB...

Time to replay DAO! Thanks Bioware!
