I apologize for a lengthy thread, so let me help you out.
I have asterik'd the most important parts, incase you don't want to read the information that came with it.

****First of all, let me state my specs:
Manufacturer: Gateway
Processor: Intel Core i5-2300 @2.8ghz(quad core/4cpus)
Ram: 6.1K MB
Hard Drive: 1.2tb
Graphics Card: Intel HD Graphics Family
PSU: Unknown

It's a decent system and I would be happy with it if I could get rid of the crappy-&-mostly-unsupported-by-current-age-video-games graphics card. :P

I keep getting this error on Mass Effect where, If I press escape, it crashes. It happens on both Mass Effect 1 and 2, and I hate it.  I have read the forums and I was redirected to a thread where they said, and I'm para-phrasing, "get a supported graphics card".

I have a NVIDIA9800gt(that I sadly bought for about $300 at best buy about 2 or 3 years ago) right by my side. My old computer's motherboard got fried because the $60 PSU couldn't handle the power that my 9800 was dishing out(atleast that's what Geek Squad told me). I bought a new computer with these specs and haven't exchanged anything so far(for fear of the risk of it happening again)

****The two parts that I have taken out of my old computer are:
1) NVIDIA9800gt &
2) Unknown 300-something wattage PSU
I could check my PSU unit right now, if you need that information.

I am willing to spend somewhere in the price range of two to three hundred dollars total(as I currently don't have a job) or for possibly replacing my 9800gt, so I am not currently looking to get the top end 560 or anything :P. Just looking for a humble system to help me get through Mass Effect 1, 2, and 3.

****I want to know what kind of PSU would support a 9800, if you believe I should keep my 9800. If not, what would be a good decent/recommended(not bare minimum requirement) gfx card and psu component that would be co-compatible with eachother for, ultimately, mass effect 3.

Thank you very much. :)
edit: I would also like to note the fact that I have bought this off of steam, so the CD-Disc solution(http://social.biowar...6/index/5786307) to this does not apply to me.
edit 2: edited 2.3 to 2.8. For some reason, I wrote 2.3. :o

The 8800s and 9800s needed higher quality power supplies than came stock in any PCs. The 12 Volt amperage is the key specification, and the BRAND is more important than the wattage. A Corsair 450 watt would handle a 9800, where a "Raidmax 600" would not (the latter being junk).

Thank you for the information. I will look into buying a corsair, then. :)
