Still plugging along. I did love the possession scene. Great plot, graphics and action.  I make sure I go talk to all the traveling npcs after a quest.  I got the dialogue with Ashley talking to her sister in which she says that Kaiden is cute. For which Ashley (the fighter chick) says hes already sweet on someone. (That someone being me).  I'll try the dane scene when I go back to Flux. I figured out some of the puzzles, but still haven't rescued the blue alien chick yet (sorry, first runthru, don't know the names of npcs yet). Have been doing side quests to level up. The monkeys were really cute. However I accidentally ran one over and received a -4 to my paragon points. ouch.

That won't be that big of a deal in the long run unless you intended to make sure you had no renegade points at all(depending on the background you choose sometimes thats' impossible...the earth/ruthless combo automatically garners renegade points before you even start). You'll have plenty of chances to get enough Paragon points in the rest of the game to max out the Paragon meter. I think once you get to around 75 to 80 % or so you get a new side quest.

I remember on one play through I had Liara and Tali with me(I was trying to get acheivements at that point...usually I would have Kaidain with me...the Liara/Kaidan combo can be awesome if you level them right and get the good armor and weapons) anyhow...I ran over one of those monkeys and they started nagging about this was why the rest of the galaxy thought so badly about humans.  Kinda blew me away because I had played it over and over(and had accidently hit the monkeys before) and no one had said anything.

I was really quite.. disheartened by my ending with Alistair.

I started playing this game because my nephew (who's only 12, I was quite supprised he was even playing such a game.. ¬_¬) showed me his ending. He was a male human noble who romanced with Leliana. He picked the ending of him sacrifising himself to kill the Archdemon.. and the emotion shown on Lelianas face, combined with the insinuation of her commiting suicide to be with her love, was heart breaking. And I really wanted to play after that.

Anyway, so, I made a female human noble rogue/archer. I didn't really have any focus on romancing anyone, but then Alistair was actually making me giggle in real life so..

I hardened him, I persuaded him to be King and myself Queen, but I knew what ending I wanted. I wanted to sacrifice myself, and I followed through with that intention..

I was then shown at my funeral, he basically said,

'She was a brave woman. I thought we were going to be together forever..(cringe, but the only sweet thing he said.). Oh well, I'll build a statue of her and move on. Toodles, have fun in the after life!'

I was quite disappointed by that.. >_>

You will get a much more tragic ending when  Alistair gives his life for you....

Alistair...
You khow I feel about you
I won't let you give your life when I can do something about it

Special note: make sure you pick one of two options to get that last kiss.
Choose..."but this is crazy" and you get him running towards you saying something like "this is the best thing I could do" (quick kiss) then go slay dragon.
Or choose...."I'll remember you"
This is by far the most ramantic and tragic of all endings.  Even though I would personally say, "But this crazy" - this happens to be one of the longest and sweetest kissing scenes between pc and Alistair.

Then off too the prologue where you honor the grey wardens and Alistair gets a statue. What's even sadder you talk to everyone and they won't lef you come with them. Except Zevran, if you're still in the plus with him. I have not romanced Lelianna  as a female. Therefore, I do not know if she will let you come or if she will stay with you.

The only other way it can be more tragic is if you get dumped by Alistair and then he sacrifises his life to save his love for you because he really doesn't want to be king and he doesn't want a queen.

Thank you. I just tried another play through, choosing that ending, and I was a little more satisfied with the outcome.

Although, I loved the farewell scene, but the after scenes were more than a little.. odd. No-one mentioned Alistair at all, apart from Wynne, who only said 'poor boy.'. I then went off and traveled with Zevran like nothing had happened.. Oh well, I guess it's one of those things were I will never be completely happy. :P

Really?  Every combination of companions I had--and I had them all--someone commented.  I purposely tried to hit at least one monkey during that quest because I wanted to hear what my companions would say.

And my male Shepard could dance at Flux, but I played this on the Xbox360 so that might have changed for the PC version!

I was also really disappointed by that aspect of the "sacrifice Alistair" ending.  The  "grateful" queen obviously can't wait to get rid of my PC; all of her "friends," who she'd taken time to talk to, to help with their problems, etc., were all, "Alistair who?  Oh, and we're all leaving now and will never see you again.  Bye."  And then Wynne, who'd always been my PC's emotional support, couldn't manage more than "Oh, poor kid, but who cares about a dead hero when we've got a living one right here, eh?"  At least she didn't say, "I told you so."

So I reloaded my post-Landsmeet save, took Morrigan up on her offer, and Alistair and my PC rode off into the sunset to do Grey Warden-y things.  Sure, making a demon baby went against everything they both stood for but, damnit, they deserved a little happiness after everything they'd done!  (And oddly, although Alistair objected at the time, at the post-coronation party he mentioned his demon offspring but seemed pretty cool about it.  I guess he decided living with my PC was worth it!)

:DLol What I meant is that he's not much of a dancer...a lot of people compared him to Rick Astley. And yes I did not get any comments from anyone other than Tali and Liara, but that could have also been a glitch...Mass Effect didn't really have the number of glitches DAO did but it did happen occasionally.

For now I have explored two endings:

- the first one was when Alistair was made king and sacfirices himeslf for my PC. As a player and not as my PC, I have to admit that it was a beautiful scene and I was happy to see that although he dumped her earlier (in "I love you but I am king" scene) he still talked about his love for her afterwards. It is nice to see that the game remiand consequent here, that although he chose duty over his love, he still had feelings for her and even died to save her. So, in general, I recognise that it's a great ending. However, putting myself in the shooes of my PC, I hated this ending. How could he throw his life away so easily just to save me!? It was me who should've died! I was angry, felt like crying and eventually redid the final fight sever times just to always have the same result in the end.

- So to make my PC happy, I decided to reload the game from the Landsmeet and make all the different choices (although it did not really fit her character). I chose Anore as the queen, did the deal with Morigan and yes, did manage to save my love from dying, but.... the game buged and ruined the full effect!!! Alistair kept talking about himself as king, everyone else kept refering to him the same way, and in the end, Anora talked about erecting a statue for him and all others who died, while he was standing right next to her!!!! So although I changed everything in the second attempt I still got the result as in the first one (as if he was made king and died), with the exception that I could talk to him in the very end.

And this "ending" bug has really ruined the game for me. Did this happen to many of you? Does anybody know if there's a way to fix this, or maybe a choice to make during the game that doesn't activate the bug? Pay attention that my first ending was OK, and the second one was ruined. So does it mean that it happens just sometimes, randomly or once you got the bugged version it will keep reoccuring? I so much want to replay the game (especially that I haven't hardened Alistair before and want to do it now), but I really don't feel like spending another 40 hours of game play just to get a non-fitting, ruined ending with Alistair.

If it was not for this bug, it would be the best game ever, even better than Mass Effect which didn't have so many romance and dialogue options. Congratulations to Bioware for improving this part, from giving us so many options and making the love story a central theme (if you wish it to be so of course), but the ending bug is something that should really be fixed as soon as possible.

So did anyone do the game when you chose Anora as the queen and make a deal with Morrigan? How is this ending different from my bugged version? Is it worth redoing it again, hoping that this time it won't bug and that I'll get a chance to see something new?

I've done it with an elf mage, it's a rather sweet ending.. Although I don't like it purely because you're bringing in a demon child to the world. It's a 'ride of into the sunset' sort of thing.. myself and Alistair basically spent our remaining time traveling, while doing Gray Warden things.. and then died together at the Deeproads.

If you dont "harden" him, when you ask him after the sex scene how he sees you 2 going on, he will give you some totally lame one-night-stand excuse about duty and honor driving you apart. Basically he screws you and dumps you like a hot potato first time he get a chance.
Then he dumps you again in favor of some *eventual* future queen and getting *eventual* future heir that could be just a frigment of his imagination since he is tainted too, so no heirs guarantee. But he still dumps you *now* because of eventual future events.

Then suddenly he forgets all his duty and honor and queens and heirs and his land and people, and goes off to get himself killed over you.
So very consistant.

After 7th playthrough and all possible endings and convo options I cant even imagine falling for that weakling anymore.

You are not alone in feeling this way.  I got the same end on my first attempt, and instead of feeling any pathos at what should have been a moving and tragic story, I just felt like the writers/developers abandoned me as an unimportant side story. They might as well have flashed a giant "You lose" sign on the screen, it would have had the same emotional impact.  Anger, frustration, utter lack of closure.

After more than a week of thinking and replaying bits of the end, the sad conclusion I have come to is this - Morrigan is the main story, and was always meant to be the main story, and if you made the mistake of choosing to be female, your only real option is disappointment.  The awkward shoehorn offer from Morrigan to go get Allistair to accept her deal was a pathetic cheat story wise, that totally broke my immersion in the gaming experience.  It simply felt like this was what they had planned for the guys, and just didn't bother to make a version that made sense for the girls.  I wish they had either found a way to make MY character the integral character, or hadn't gave me the option of playing as a female at all.

Obviously, the reason I'm having such a reaction to this is because the rest of the game is so extremely well written and produced.  If it had been crap from the start, I never would have cared enough to feel betrayed or letdown.  Nonetheless, betrayed and letdown is how I feel.

My Mother made mistake of giving birth to female so I didnt have much choice - and I dont play male toons either since I it feels just wrong to me. I dont really want to be a guy, not even in video game.

As far as disappointment goes, what exactly are you talking about? I am very happy with all my endings. Actually only the one where I put myself on the throne was relatively not exactly *it*, but I felt like catering my casual romantic side.
Others... I find being the main army commander and kings mistress perfectly appealing option. I think going off with Zev is just great too...... even Leli is good option for a girl tbh. I never picked ultimate sacrifices because to be honest, I find it too cheesy.

So, I am sorry but all my endings are perfectly happy endings for my taste. We girls do kinda differ ya know.

The first time I played almost all the way through till I got to the part where I was dumped.  I hated it and it made me cry so I decided to back track and make Anora queen.  I also did the ritual because hell, if I didn't have to die I would have slept with Morrigan myself even as a chick (although obviously that wouldn't really do much good).  In all three runthoughs that I have finished I've always done the ritual so no one has died, although I find it odd that even though I don't make Alistair king, he stills refers to himself as such when I go to talk to him about the ritual.  It's weird.  He's like once you become king everyone asks for something.  I'm like, you're not king, WTF?  Meh.  If you're willing maybe you could try uninstalling your game and then reinstalling.  Mabye it's just freakin' out because of the game you've already done.  It's worth a shot I guess.  Image IPB

Lol, that we do!  I never chose to accept Morrigan's offer since I was so pissed off at what a cheap awkward attempt it was to squeeze my character into what felt to me like someone else's story.  (And the way I percieved my PC as well as Allistair, it just felt blatantly out of character)

And as a girl who always prefers to be a girl if you can, are you really content with the way they had the major story point at he climax of the game come down to "Can you go get the boy to do something for me?"  Personally if I'm playing my character as an independant badass, I don't want her have to go running off to the boys to do the job for her.

Well I always get along with Morrigan so well I see her offer as kind of "between us girls" thing, she is my friend and I like her more than Alistair anyway, so I dont mind if she does something that gets us both what we want (she gets her baby and I get everyone to live).

I dont see Alistair as *doing a job for me* if I send him to spend a night with Morrigan; I see that more like using him to make us girls happy. After all, whats wrong with getting the boy to do the dirty job so you dont have to bother with marginal matters? :P

I am independant badass too (my husband always complains about that) but I guess I am more of a manipulative kind of badass.

I dont think Al hates having sex with Morrigan so much anyway, he is pretty eager to jump into threesome in Pearl, he finds you dating Leliana HOT, and after all he doesnt complain *that* much about bedding Morrigan after all.
Imo he is grateful if you send him off to bed with any girl, kinda not his fault then, he can live up all his dirty fantasies and blame it all on you, right? :innocent:

Yes, I did get the dialogue about me being a bad driver.  I alway seem to bring Kaiden with me and another npc. Does it make a difference in the leveling up of who I use or don't?

I love my paragon points...but I got pissed at something the council said and picked to option disconnect. Wherein Joker says basically oops lost the transmission.Image IPB

I like joker. I wish ME had an option for a snappy comeback to his remarks. I've been talking to my NPCs and have done some of their sidequests.  Their sidequests are much more thought out then DAOs.

Can't wait to get back to Flux and try dance scene.

Thanks for all the hints...will be kinda sad when first game is over

I just finished releasing the queen and finally got some dialogue choices with Kaiden Image IPB. The one where pc  says you're a romantic and he says something to the effect..."yeah, I read all the stories where the hero save's the girl." Glad I replayed it again (just to listen to him) and I chose more investigation about a girl he onced love (ok sorta jealous) and he says she was pretty, smart and not stuck up and he says "just like you."  Then he asks if you are this personal with everyone and you say, "What do you think?" Then he says he got to process all this but is looking forward to next conversation (Ok...will admit...I'm hooked for Kaiden, but Alistair will always be my first true pc love).

Well...off to finish some more quests...so I can talk to kaiden more. Boy does he make you work for it.

Trust me, you don't have to be jealous of Rayna in the end. You'll get a little more of what happened with all that later. The first time I went through I didn't even get the Rayna part...didn't explore the left dialogue tree. Don't know what you asked when he talked about his friends at jump zero...but the part about teenagers getting physical gets some revelaing dialogue from him(one of the main reasons I consider him a better catch than Alistair).

As long as he continues to say "I'd like that." when you say "we'll talk later" you've got him. If he ever goes back to saying Commander instead you've lost him. The only way I know that it can be messed up is if you don't admit to Liara that Kaidan's special to you or if you choose her in the jealousy scene.

So you released the queen...I loved the scene where it talked through the Asari...one of the games creepier moments.

As for me on being hooked...I've started writing ME fanfiction again...What can I say? Long live Shenko.

ETA: I quick little note you might not know about. If you catch the owner of Flux(he's a Volus)dancing on the dance floor and you are romancing Kaidan you can get him to dance with you. When you're dancing(I think you click on the volus to start) you also click on Kaidan. The guys including male Shepard don't dance as well as the girls but it's just a fun little thing you can do.

The instructor broker Rayna's arm. Kaiden kills the instructor and Rayna thinks Kaiden is too violent and leaves him. Stupid girl, lucky for me.Image IPB

I was trying to save paragon points, but have to say that sometime I just want to cut loose and say something I would have probably said in reall life especially to the council. I try to say all the right things (nice and noble) when talking or interacting with Kaiden to keep romance going. Have to say that man is more noble than Alistair and much harder to please.

SORRY: problem with quote thing.

Did you catch Anora's comment about needing to rescue only PC and not Alistair. She gets corrected by Arl Eamon.  I chose the option to turn myself in after rescuing Anora instead of trying to kill Ser Cauthrien. I kind'a feel bad for Ser Cauthrien and actually think she's an intersting character in the story.

There seems to be quite a few bugs in the end game dialogue. I try to look past them as I love the Character interaction. My first playthru as an elf I replayed final battle so many times to try all the dialogue options to see if I could sacrifise myself.  I would have liked it better if DAO would have had a touching I love you scene with Alistair before I sacrifised myself.

The best you could hope for is if you leave Alistair behind in Denerim and he says I'll remember you. However, I always choose I love you dialogue.  Which, after playing another walkthru, you don't get the I love you dialogue option if Alistair dumps you. sigh.Image IPB

In a tragic sort of way I would like to be able to play out their ending in the Deeproads and what they might say to each other.

Image IPB

Nope, it doesn't work I had to reinstall game because of toolset problems. I think Bioware missed that one when doing the  end game dialogue options.

I felt so depressed the rest of that evening after being dumped. What makes it worse is that none  of the traveling pcs will let you join them except Zev and I didn't force him to stay after I broke up with him.

I actually felt that Bioware finally gave us girls and option to play females for a change. Even though its about Morrigan....we were still a Grey Warden and that was our job.  And as for the guys...they get the suckiest ending of all.  They fall for Morrigan and she leaves them in the dust and takes the child with her. How sad for the guys. We at least get a chance with our love interest to ride into the sunset.

Note: I respect your thoughts and these are only mine.

I fully agree with you.  Bioware did a wonderful job for us girls.  I hate playing as a guy in video games.  The only time I will do it is if It is first person. I hope Bioware will continue to create games with us girls in mind. Especially as there are more of us playing them.

As for the endings....There are plenty for us to choose from.  Sad for the guys if they are romantic on Morrigan as she will leave them no matter what. We at least get a choice.
