Wat?After all, she isn't some super soldier
Anyway, I haven't read the novels, because my interest in Anderson is minimal, but I'm not terribly worried about them being required reading for ME3. And Kai Leng appears to be a decent foe.

Here. This synopsis pretty much sums it up.Xilizhra wrote...

Er, what? The last two novels are written better than most of ME2, and from the looks of it ME3 as well.matt-bassist wrote...
You know, you're absolutely right. Most of my anger is based off assumption. Kai Leng's first appearance however WILL ****** off pretty much everyone, especially those who dislike the novels like myself, if it hasn't been changed since the script was written. I guess I'm just upset that they are forcing the expanded universe (novels, comics, etc.) into the games, where i truly believe they DO NOT belong.
The expanded universe, despite being poorly written, also follows only one canon storyline, and the whole point of the Mass Effect series is that *your* desicions matter, and change and shape the galaxy. The EU basically ignores anything you have done in the games, and now that they are trying to force Kai Leng (and Kahlee Sanders to a lesser extent) into them... urgh it's just such a poor implimentation, because now we are expected to read the novels (which i've begrudgingly done) to understand really important parts of the game.
TL;DR version: The expanded universe should be seperate from the games because then we aren't forced to read crap to understand important plot points. Unimportant side-characters can pop up sure, but not such important plotlines.
And forcing one canon storyline on you? That's just the Anderson/Udina decision, and I highly doubt Karpyshyn - at that point no longer the lead writer on the series - made that call on his own. Aside from that one, both novels, as well as the comics, do an admirable job of not referring to Commander Shepard and his/her possible decisions.
As for the point of the Mass Effect series being your decisions "mattering", just wait until ME3 arrives...

If your decisions didn't matter, there'd be no point of contention as to which morality path is "better."As for the point of the Mass Effect series being your decisions "mattering", just wait until ME3 arrives...

If both decisions lead to the exact same result, with the only difference being a line or two to explain why it is the same, I wouldn't say they matter.Xilizhra wrote...

If one option only grants the player benefits while the other will only result in nothing, there really isn't any choice to begin with.
Aside from Kaidan/Ashley, there aren't any real decisions or dilemmas in the series, and even the results of that one are only superficial.

A red herring? Like ME2 on PS3 or multiplayer in ME3? Or getting a geth squadmate named Legion in ME2?CARL_DF90 wrote...
Here we go. Another off-topic about a questionable script that some people want to take as gospel without ever once questioning it. Never once thinking that it "COULD" be a red-herring. *sighs* Oh, well. There are those who'd rather not use logic/reason and wait for an ACTUAL product. Nuts. Now I'm getting off-topic. Sorry.

He's a caricature of a racist. The only thing keeping him from being an outright stormfront cliche is his being an asian ninja. Not really understanding the hype around this character.
I´ve noted that a badass character (whether properly or author Sueism) gets forgiven for a lot of flaws, intended in the writing or not.

Nope, we don't know the voice actors for any of the new characters yet. That said, I'm betting on some badass Asian voice of sorts. :happy:Mei Mei wrote...
Kai Leng... Can't wait to see him in action. Anyone hear whose his VA is?

I dunno.
Someone with a slight hint of Asian would do, but I don't think it'd fit with his dialogues that much. If they're final, that is.

Try not to get Shepard into CQC with him

There are dialogues? I didn't know either. Hmm.. A slight hint of an Asian accent? When first introduces to Kai Leng, I imagined a deep, softer kind of voice. He didn't seem the type to be loud, rather quiet, intense, intimidating. Thus, the deep soft kind of voice.Fiery Phoenix wrote...

I predict a certain poster will be incredibly pissed off about how underwhelming or generic Kai Leng will be due to prior expectations. DA2 effect here we come.
Or like the Archdemon fight in Origins? Yeah....

He's not so quiet in the script. Probably because he think he can take Shepard head on.

So he's coming off as arrogant and condescending? Nice! He seemed self assured and confident but I wasn't expecting him to talk smack to Shepard. Damn. I want the game now. Right now.Someone With Mass wrote...

It's probably because he receives some serious cybernetic augmentation. Either that, or he's really confident in his abilities.
