The Weapon that killed/disabled a Reaper

So... TIM found some old weapon that killed a Reaper. He says it was defunct, but I don't see why it can't be studied, so something just like it can be remade.
Bet if you were preparing for a war, you should try to make more of those.
Too bad I bet TIM isn't that smart, nor willing to give that kind of weaponry to the Council.

Still a weapon that killed a reaper. Making more would be ideal, if your average Dreadnaught can't take it one out.
For all we know, planets like Earth, Thessia, and Pavalen do have things like that. Like I said though they would be taken out rather easily, perhaps before they could hit a single target.
And it's not like a weapon of that size, and with the necesarry eezo core, could be built quickly.

I can't see the logic in building a gun like that on the planet. For something of the length that is necessary, zero-gee would help a lot. Plus you don't want to be unable to fire because the planet is pointing in the wrong direction.
A mass accelerator of that power would have to be far stronger, and therefore longer than a dreadnaught's gun, which is a kilometer. You'd have to build a ship massive enough to carry that weapon, so the ship would end up being longer than a Reaper. It's possible, but I personally think it's less likely.

Not to mention that the first shot would give it away immediately and then the Reapers can just shoot back at it with their main guns and pretty much make the planet inhabitable for all eternity.

TIM suggested it might have been a last hurrah for that species, so they already knew they were doomed. Anyways this isn't something i feel is worth debating.

Why does it have to be a ship? Why not a space station?
That makes sense too.

I can understand why you think that I mean it does look like a massive space cannon but Omega was forged out of an asteroid.Kaiser Shepard wrote...

Not to mention that it's been in the same damn place for thousands of years. Inside an asteroid belt. As far away from strategical places as you can get.

Star Wars happened in a far galaxy a long time ago. A stupid imperial gunnery tried to shoot like a cowboys and missed.
We know that Sir Isaac Newton is the deadliest son of a **** in space. The shoot from the DS keep travelling through the universe until it came to the Milky Way and hitted a poor reaper.

We're gonna fly a fleet of asteroids into the Reapers, worked in Arrival didn't it?
Activision would probably take offense when the Reapers started shooting at them.

Newton's laws don't apply to energy, though, just actual objects with mass. Then again, I have no idea if a Death Star blast would keep going and going in empty space or not.Skullheart wrote...

It would not.
