Yeah, but since it is Hollywood, I think they would have a discussion over whee or not people can relate to the hero falling in love with a blue woman with tentacles on her head, or a badass Hispanic soldier. Either way, I prefer Ashley, her character is more likable.

Captain Kirk.

 that is all.

@ CptData - for sure :)

I never saw Star Trek with the exception of the remake with Zachary Quinto. Kirk made out with the green woman, but spent the rest of the movie pouting because he couldn't have Zoe Saldana. I see it playing out similarly in an ME movie.

gasps in horror.. you..

fine.

"Avatar"
sexy blue alien babe.  amusingly enough, played by the very same Zoe Saldana :P

I'll say this: if the movie somehow turns Liara into a Kirkesque conquest, I'll... pirate it and distribute it as much as possible to reduce sale numbers because that's all I can do to actually hurt a movie.

Guess Ashley dies in ME3 then.

What has Rodriguez anything to do with her dying?

She plays practically the same role in all her movies, which ends up with her death. I think there is literally only one movie of hers where she doesn't die.

I still wonder why ppl want to rape portuguese Ashley?!

Did I miss something O.o

Well...

She was trained in Brazil, so we assumed that she was born there (yeah, big assumption)

Unless the writers decide to give her Brazilian origins I think that is an assumption people shouldn't be making. I trained in a lot places during my time in the Marines and many were not in the United States. And this during an era where there isn't a worldwide government like the Alliance. Ashley would probably have trained in more countries than I did.

Also Ashley was in Brazil for recruit training. It was there that she met Gunnery Chief Ellison, who Shepard also knows, suggesting that Shepard passed through the Brazilian recruit depot as well. Unless Shepard and Ashley are both Brazilian it is far more likely that the recruit depot takes recruits from many different countries.

In the United States today the Marine Corps has two recruit depots. One is at Parris Island, South Carolina and the other is just outside San Diego in California. The way it works usually is that recruits from East of the Mississipi (like myself) are sent to Parris Island, and recruits from west of the Mississipi river are sent to the recruit depot at San Diego. It could be that the Alliance has a similar setup, with several recruit depots around the world processing recruits from different geographic regions. Perhaps all recruits from the Western Hemisphere pass through the recruit depot in Brazil?

If I have to guess, there'll be a love triangle, and Shepard will end up with neither.

With the last name of Alenko, I assumed he had Russian Ancestry.

None of this is important really, unless the writers want to bring it up

I always assumed he had at least partial Russian ancestry as well. Alenko sounded Russian to me. But being bored I just checked it out on ancestry.com, and it is Hungarian apparently.

I've noticed quite a few people choose Micelle Rodriguez for a live version of Ash.

Though she's not bad, but I can't help but think Erica Cerra would make a better choice.
I just find her to have a stronger resemblance to Ashley IMHO.

ETA: As far as ethnicity goes, I can see some Hispanic traits in her looks, but I agree that it's only partial.

Well, some people have got to go. Like useless birdmen and girls with fishbowl heads, but You can't kill Ashley, she's too important, like Liara.

Oh, you are going to be SO MAD.

And yes, I got hooked to her character with that Avatar movie. She's so totally Ashley.

Oh God no. <_< The movie's going to be terrible, without doubt anyway, I don't know why I'm surprised.

Not to rain on the Michelle Rodriguez parade, but how about Simone Kessel (Lt. Alicia Washington) from Terra Nova?

She comes close ... guess best is to mix her and Michelle ét voilà: Ashley. Includes 50:50 chance of getting KIA in the movie
