LOL its been ages since I've seen that. but its not violent enough. When I heard she was going ot be in V for Vendetta a part of me hoped the script writers would write in some fight scenes for Evey, just so we could see what she could do. But if Jack is put into the film series at some point I'd imagine they'd get a fresh face to do it on the cheap since Jack isn't drooled over by guys who dream about Miranda or Mysterio... I mean Tali.:innocent:

Then maybe it's better if she doesn't appear at all. :?

Sadly a lot people have crappy tastes, personally I'm a little curious what it would've been like to have her a long since the first game, but that's just me. Besides, an unkown actor doesn't mean she won't be portrayed well, there are numerous extremely talented yet unkown actors that could filljust about any role.

They made her Latina so Michelle Rodriguez can play her in the ME movie.

I wouldn't mind seeing her in the role.

I'll say this: if the movie somehow turns Liara into a Kirkesque conquest, I'll... pirate it and distribute it as much as possible to reduce sale numbers because that's all I can do to actually hurt a movie.

If I have to guess, there'll be a love triangle, and Shepard will end up with neither.

Shepard will totally have them both because that's how Hollywood rolls.

I've noticed quite a few people choose Micelle Rodriguez for a live version of Ash.

Though she's not bad, but I can't help but think Erica Cerra would make a better choice.
I just find her to have a stronger resemblance to Ashley IMHO.

Image IPB

ETA: As far as ethnicity goes, I can see some Hispanic traits in her looks, but I agree that it's only partial.

Dear God, *Thank* you. I've seen so many posts about Michele Rodriguez being a perfect fit for Ash and I'm constantly bewildered by that. Why would she be? Because she's a physically strong actress? Because Ashley is partially Hispanic? Those have to be the only reasons because she doesn't even remotely resemble Ashley. She is far too short, and, even though she is attractive, she's a tad too manish looking. Erica Cera, however, has been my Match since day one of Eureka.

Honestly, when I saw Ashley for the first time in ME I thought they had used EC as her model much like they used Vanderloo for M!Shep since Erica was a model before she became an actress. I love Michele, I've dug all her movies, but she's no Ashley. However, that's my opinion, and while I'm sure others agree with it I know others very much don't. Still, thank you for putting this out there. I've wanted to for some time (not in a Trollish way) but for the life of me I can't ever get the photo options to work.
:pinched:

P.S. While I am primarly a fan of Tali, before I knew she was a romance option in ME2 I did plan to remain faithful to Ashley. Even though Tali is the LI for my main continuity, I'm still quite exicited to see her back for ME3 in a pretty big way and I would want her to be cast *right* in the ME movie. God forbid they cast some like...Megan Fox, i.e. just some Hot Chick who can barely act.

Not to rain on the Michelle Rodriguez parade, but how about Simone Kessel (Lt. Alicia Washington) from Terra Nova?

I would much prefer her over... rodriguez.

Still say Erica Cerra could be her twin...

I'm still against the concept of a film. I just don't know how it could possibly be done well. Choice (or at least the illusion of it) is central to Mass Effect. And if that's gone...well, what's left?

Hmm, Michelle Rodriguez as Ashley Williams? No! God, please! No!
Erica Cerra on the other hand ...Oh, God, oh, yes, yes, yes, yes!

Is it wrong if I consider some of these posts to be potential veiled racism?

That depends on the post.

I'm not sure whether or not that was directed at my original post, but if it was, I don't have issues with Ashley being partially Hispanic. Since she never mentioned any Hispanic ancestry in game I thought people were just assuming that based on her tan skin & dark hair, when Hispanic/Latin people aren't the only ones with tan skin or dark hair.

I support both - kinda. Sgt_Reed shifted my view slightly towards Erica with that picture ... so I'd say 2/3 of me support Erica, 1/3 support Michelle.

But tbh, I think there's no woman that looks like & thinks like Ashley.

Bwah? People didn't already pickup on her hispanic ancestry in 1 and 2? I always thought she was from hispanic descent from the first time she was shown.

Her writer confirmed it as well.

Think this debatte is also about ME3!Ashley who seems to have lost her hispanic hint. Dunno why BW reduced that influence visibly.

Without the writer saying "she's Hispanic," where is it obvious?

Unless I'm missed out on dialogue somewhere the only possible indicator that she might be partially Hispanic was having brown hair and a tan complection. But brown hair and tan skin is hardly unique to Hispanic people, and IIRC, wasn't her face model Eastern European?

It was obvious.
I think her eyes and brows game me that image, not only her tan skin. Also her nature feels "hispanic" to me - a bit fiery, if I am allowed to say that. I simply love her character and that "hispanic hint" makes her even more interesting.

Meryl Streep could play Batman and be the right choice. So she doesn't really count.

Anyway, I don't think Rodriguez looks exactly like Ash, but I think she could nail the part in the acting department. Like it or not, Rodriguez pretty much has the "badass chick" stamp on her forehead and I think that bodes well for a strong and tough girl like Ash. I'd prefer her over any other actress if only because I think she could do wonders with the part. My biggest problem with the film would be if they picked actors that couldn't play their characters; I'd be annoyed if the Ash actor was anything less than kickass.

You guys are being optimistic. This is hollywood.

Either Liara will be the love interest. Going for the whole sci-fi thing.

Or Ashley will be it but she'll just be white.

Actually, the acting part is why I don't think Rodriguez would make a good Ashley, because it would focus on the "kickass chick" side of her character, but Ashley also gives off a strong feminie vibe, imo, the way she talks about taking her sisters clubbing or about the clothes, they like to wear and just the general impression I had, when talking to her.
Cerra on the other hand can do both sides of the Ashley coin and I would hate if they would drop that mix in the movie, because it's the main reason, I like Ashley so much.

I should emphasize that Hispanic is a linguistic designation, not a race.

For example, 10% of the population of Mexico is white, being of unmixed descent from Spain. The people are Argentina are white, with immigrants coming from all over Europe. The same is said about Brazil. There are lots of people whose descendants came from Germany and Italy. There are even Japanese settlers, so there are Asian Hispanics. Then you have the Indios: the unmixed natives and those from Africa.

You also have the mixed populations: white and native, black and native, white and black and native. The list goes on.

IMHO it'd be better to ask could Ashley Williams play Michelle Rodriguez? Because Michelle Rodriguez will play Michelle Rodriguez, EVEN if she was aaked to play a cylinder. (I like Michelle Rodriguez) :?

Isn't Ashley modeled after a Russian model? I could of sworn I read that somewhere. I've always imagined her with Latin/Hispanic/whatever the PC term is blood in her.
