Isn't Ashley modeled after a Russian model? I could of sworn I read that somewhere. I've always imagined her with Latin/Hispanic/whatever the PC term is blood in her.

Miranda's VA has a russian sounding name but Ashley? ... Uhhh ...

Miranda's VA/face model is polish/australian. I thought nobody knows who Ashley's face model is.

You did, but it's also a well known fact some of the characters in game are modelled after their VA. TIM, Miranda and Samara for example.

That's why I had to mention this. I guess Ashley has no real life counterpart.

Samara isn't modelled after her VA, if I remember rightly.

Oh, yes, I think you're right. She's modelled after a model. (uuuuuuhhh ... )

Joker got modelled after his VA too. M!Shep looks like the spitting image of Wanderloo - but not all main characters are modelled after their VA or a model, am I right?

Claudia Galanti -- another

Reminds me of Ashley more than Erica Cerra especially the Mass Effect 3 Ashley. She is Italian I believe.

Yeah. Samara's VA is Maggie Baird. Her model is Rana MacAnear...who actually cosplayed Samar.

Looks very beautiful, however, I don't know her.

I kind of get the feel that some people are reading this as a negative. So she's Hispanic, what's the big deal? Why feel the need to detract from that?

Not to rain on the Michelle Rodriguez parade, but how about Simone Kessel (Lt. Alicia Washington) from Terra Nova?

I would much prefer her over... rodriguez.

Still say Erica Cerra could be her twin...

For me she doesn't work.  If you place actors/actresses based off looks alone you usually end up wth a subpar performance.  In what would surely be more action movie then a sci fi flick you need strong actors that can actually pull off the physical demands of the role.  Otherwise you end up with less then creative shots to hid the weakness of the actor.  With Michelle Rodriguez you get someone who can act, is cute enough for the role and can meet the demands of a physically demanding role.

Think about it this way would the matrix have been as good as it was if Carrie Ann Moss couldn' do the physical stunts or was replaced with a pretty face ?  Because of that reason for me the role would be best fulfilled by rodriguez.

I agree with OP, she may be a little Middle Eastern, e.g. Persian. As for Kaidan a few pages back...he could be...Turkish?

Wasn't it obvious due to the fact that she's voiced by a black woman?

From what I've read, her face is based on this model's. (just look to the far right of the pic below)

But I've never heard of a name to go with the face.

BioWare supposedly said the pure races (for lack of a better word, don't hang on to this phrase) are rare. Obviously, she's not just white. Even though half the time everyone in the games does look like it *shifty eyes*.

Well, in an attempt to put this issue to rest, very few people com from a single ethnicity in the twenty-first century. Is it really plausible for people almost two hundred years from now to be one thing or the other? It would make sense for Ashley to be "Latina" since the designation is about as relevant as being British or American when trying to discern a person's ethnic make-up. I'm sure down the William's bloodline there's a myriad of different cultures and races that built up the family over the years. Same for Shepard, Anderson, Joker, etc.
