I just finished the duel with Lograine. ( First playthrough so please don't reveal anything past this point if you respond.)

I'm playing a human noble rogue. I try to RP my character as much as possible so when it came to the decision as to what to do with him, killing him on the spot was a no brainer till the option to have him become a warden was presented. Since I had just fought him I knew he was a lot tougher than my other warriors I wavered. (I tried to let Alister fight the duel but he got off one attack and then was slaughtered like a lamb, Sten was even worse.)

The thing is if I'm going to stay true to my character I can't really allow the the man who betrayed the King and left him on the battlefield to die. We're talking high treason anf murder! Add to that he framed and murdered the majority of the Grey Wardens dealt in slavery, smuggled  silver and tortured and murdered the Templars.

In the end I had Alister execute him. I was very disappointed that I didn't get to gut the Princess. i allowed myself to be captured during my rescue attempt after first trying to fight my way out and dieing a couple of times. If i had managed to survive the battle would I have had the chance to kill her? If so I might try that again.

I'm also wondering if there is a way to win this scenario with out a fight. Can you unite the Landsmeet against Lograine? Also is there anyway to become King myself? (I am Royalty after all.

Kill Anora? No, you can't do that although you can get her imprisoned with the right choices.

You have to fight Loghain every time. If you do not have enough support from the Landsmeet, you have to fight his soldiers as well.

If you are a male human noble, you can become King (Prince-Consort anyway) by marrying Anora.

Marry Anora, hmm glad I saved so I can try these different outcomes.

Is there some code that doesn't allow companions to beat Logaine? Both of fighters were immediately mauled. Maybe I'm not very good at building fighters but it seemed like they would have put up a better fight.

From what I hear, rogues have the best time with him. Inevitably, they will have high defense meaning Loghain will hardly ever hit them, which was the case with me. I've heard if he does hit you, he does a lot of damage.

What crime has Anora committed that merits death?

Anora is treacherous. She is primarily motivated by a desire to keep her status as Queen and secondly by a desire to save her father, Loghain. When the Wardens oppose either of those, Anora will betray them.

Does she deserve death because of that? Hmm, more difficult question. Alistair is not so bloody-minded that he would kill her outright, choosing instead to imprison her. That is actually pretty good strategy on his part, since at that point it is by no means certain he will live through the rest of the battles with the darkspawn. Anora then could, in the event of his death, reassume control of Ferelden.

So killing Anora at the Landsmeet runs contrary to Alistair's own wishes.

That is a contradiction in itself. Any queen would want to keep her position. And a daughter can hardly be blamed for wanting to save her father. It's natural.

She lost a succession war. That is an illness that has always had a high mortality rate. Cf. what Bhelen does the moment he becomes king, or for RL example the War of the Roses.

Not to mention, Anora herself has no problems executing Alistair should she remain queen.

If I recall the dialogue correctly, Arl Eamon from the beginning warns the Wardens against trusting Anora too much. Hers is "an alliance of convenience."

Natural? Arl Eamon would say calculated, I think.
