On my last Vanguard run, I made a point of using Shockwave. I was inspired in part by Thisisme8's Lazy Vanguard. Shockwave is much more useful than I originally gave it credit for. I still think Throw is a much better option for the Adept, but I figure that if it works well on my Vanguard, it should work just as well on my Adept, especially since the Adept benefits from quicker cooldowns. So I decided to try using Shockwave as an Adept.

Disclaimers:
Shockwave is not a very good power early game. With a base 6-second cooldown, Shockwave can really prevent you from using the rest of your biotic abilities. At rank 1, it is not very wide and it does not travel as far as you would like. It is also has one of the slowest casting animations, which means you have a better chance of dying while casting it instead of some other powers. It is also slow moving, which means an enemy can move out of the way before it hits him.

If this is your first time playing as an Adept, or if you do not have Mass Effect 1 (you play on the Playstation 3, for example), then I recommend not putting any points into Shockwave until later in the game, or save it for New Game + (start a new game as an imported ME2 character). Importing a Level 50 or Level 60 character from Mass Effect 1 helps greatly so you can put points into Biotic Mastery much sooner to reduce your cooldowns.

Build Strategy:
I imported a Level 50 character from Mass Effect 1. After completing Lazarus Station, Shepard was at rank 4, allowing me to put 1 point into shockwave:

Level 4 Shockwave Adept:
1 - Warp
0 - Throw
2 - Singularity
2 - Pull
1 - Shockwave
0 - Biotic Mastery
1 - Stasis

I am using Stasis as a bonus power, but I will rarely--if ever--use it. I play on the Xbox 360 so I have very limited number of powers that I can map to the controller buttons. I try to play without pausing as much as possible so I map the following powers: Singularity, Pull, and Shockwave.

As I level up, I plan to allocate points in the following order:
1. Evolve Biotic Mastery to shorten power cooldowns. I evolve it Bastion to lengthen the duration of Singularity and Pull. Shockwave and Warp would benefit more from Nemesis, but I will hardly use Warp and its benefits to Shockwave are negligible.
2. Evolve Singularity to Heavy Singularity.
3. Evolve Pull to Pull Field. I know I want to create a Shockwave Adept, but simply I prefer to evolve Pull sooner than Shockwave.
4. Evolve Shockwave to Improved Shockwave. I find the wider radius more useful than stronger force.
5. Evolve Warp last. I am hardly going to use it and I prefer using Miranda or Thane's Warp anyway.

Level 30 Shockwave Adept:
4 - Heavy Warp
0 - Throw
4 - Heavy Singularity
4 - Pull Field
4 - Improved Shockwave
4 - Bastion
1 - Stasis

Weapons:
Pistol: I prefer the Predator
SMG: The Shuriken until I obtain the Tempest.
Bonus weapon: Shotgun, either the Katana or Eviscerator

Had to split Jack's recruitment mission into two parts. It was over 15 minutes in length and I could not edit it down any further.

Tried uploading these videos yesterday, but my computer crashed.

Recruiting the Warlord (Grunt's recruitment mission) part 1
Recruiting the Warlord (Grunt's recruitment mission) part 2

As of this post, I have completed the Disabled Collector Vessel mission. I have a lot of editing to do.

The great thing about gameplay videos is that you can edit out all your deaths. However, some people may assume that makes you a good player when they see the best result and not the entire effort.

So here is a compilation of my failures on Grunt's recruitment mission:

Recruiting the Warlord: Critical Mission Failure compilation

I will be uploading the Horizon mission next.

I understand what you are doing and even why......but after watching the Grunt recruitment mission, I have to shake my head at the Shockwave power. Almost every single use of Shockwave I saw in that video, pull or throw would have been better. I have to wonder what the designers were thinking when they made Shockwave the way they did, because it could have been so much better and MORE, but wasn't. Does it have it's uses, yeah, but usually another power is at least as good, or better than it. I am happy you are getting some use out of it, and maybe on a Vanguard it is a better option(ie, you have less options) to use, but I have to agree with your OP point in for Adept, it doesn't make much since to use unless you are just trying to use the power because.

Shockwave gets better (it gets wider) as you rank it up, but yeah, I miss having Throw. Level 1 Shockwave without the biotic cooldown upgrade makes it difficult to use.

Part 1 - Using shrunken to take out everyone, thats a different route, but effective.  @2:00 you give squad placement commands before the enemy shows up ( and I'm thinking - thats a good way to do that because you are not under fire at that time ), but then when the enemy shows up your commands get ignored :(  from @7:20 on you have to fight by yourself - nice go without your help.

Part 2 - what can I say - your squad kept getting killed and left you to do all the heavy lifting.  Those slackers even died in  the last fight ;(  You took some defensive positions that I've never tried before - they worked out ok so I might give it a try next time.

So, are you going to stick with the shruken, or are you a tempest fan with adept?  I always go for the Kasumi smg because it has an armor factor ( I do hate the sound however ).

I am going with the Tempest. Just completed Tali's recruitment mission last night without too much difficulty. Locust is nice for armor, but the pistol works just fine for me. I have not completed Kasumi's loyalty mission yet, so I do not have the Locust. I want to level up Shockwave some more before completing it.

Your Thane videos say they are private.

I watched Freedom's Progress and Horizon. Interesting stuff. I admit when I did Adept and Vanguard I didn't really use Shockwave that much, as I suppose I already had something of a bias against it just from Jack's usage. At any rate, it looks it can decent in the right hands.

Not completely related, but I did N7: Abandoned Mine recently (although it was a soldier playthrough) and took Samara and Jack. I was determined to use shockwave on the husks, and it worked out pretty decently with me stripping armor and trying to get them in a line, then getting Jack to send a shockwave. The real intent was for me to mess around with flashbang, but I was not doing so hot with my placement and so shockwave sort of took over.

It would have been interesting if they had made the power a little different. Too bad they didn't make it more like the tech armor explosion. I suppose they didn't want it to overlap.

Jack + Samara + Shep are my Husk killing crew. The abandoned mine and the Derelict Reaper are made for a combination of protection stripping (Reave + Warp Ammo + whatever Shep has- Warp/Incinerate etc) and then shockwave for fun times.

Watched the Thane ones. There are a some long areas in this mission where shockwave works out pretty well.

I prefer using Throw myself, but with the right squadmates to help strip defenses quickly, a rank 3-4 Shockwave can really clear a room. The good thing about Shockwave is that it cn go through cover to hit enemies whereas a throw or pull would miss hit cover instead even with curving.

I have a lot of editing to do and some of the next few missions are rather long.

So until I can post them, here is another series of fails:

I used YouTube's AudioSwap so the music may not be added yet at the time of this posting.
