My idea (and I have not read the leaked story script so this just me thinking what I would do. Please no spoilers!!) is this:

Lure the Reapers into a star system and either A) Destroy the sun and cause a supernova or Destroy the Mass Relay and create a big black hole. That'll take out at least a good chuck of the Reapers.

Part A is certainly possible since we've seen evidence of suns aging at faster than normal rates (like on Haelstrom). And we've seen Part B with Arrival. This scenario might involve sacrificing Earth to stop the Reapers but it could easily play out to be a very epic climax.

There are ways they likely found to feel most appropriate to the fanbase. As previously said, however, you can't please everyone.

The way for Shepard to beat the Reapers is to pull down his pants and beat them to death with his penis. Of course a female Shepard cannot beat them this way and that is why Bioware gave her Vega.

But no, seriously, creating a superweapon and using it is not a Deus ex Machina.

An enormous prothean fleet appearing right before the reapers annihilate everything and turning them into scrap metal, THAT is a Deus ex Machina. Or Shepard suddenly going supersaiyan or something, without any foreshadowing whatsoever (seriously, this would be so hilariously bad I think I would almost like it).

As long as there's no win button. It should be a culmination of new technologies, fleets etc. I can live with a superweapon as long as it is attached to say the Normandy and does not destroy the ENTIRE Reaper fleet in one swift move.

Bottomline, as long as we have to fight and scrap for every inch of ground to win, I am a happy camper.

It would be cool if they continue with the theme of the previous games in terms of reaper-killage - i.e., previous civilizations tried and failed, but left traces of their hard work behind that *might* finally be made into a solution this time around. Anything else raises questions about why fighting the reapers worked this time and not every other time it was tried.

I think that during the course of the game we will slowly discover the true origin of the Reapers, and through learning that we will discover their weakness. I don't think Bioware will go low enough to make it an "off button" scenario, so I'm not really worried about it.
I personally believe though that the only way to stop them, is to discover what made them, why and how. Then we might be able to find a weakness, and spread the information around.
Plus, it would be really interesting to finally find out where the hell they came from.

EDI will hack into the Reaper Collective communication frequency and Shepard will start the music(?) from this long forgotten classic and send out to all the Reapers who will go insane within 30 seconds and start killing each other.



Thus ending the Reapers' existance once and for all.
