Part of the thoughts for this thread came through just reading the thread asking if Anora is power hungry.
Recently that thread began asking if Ferelden had a stable form/structure of government or not.
Thats is a worthwhile topic for this thread but lets go deeper.
Social & Economic Mobility: Some. Relatively stable & somewhat fluid.
In spite of the fact that Ferelden has hereditary monarchy & artistocracy a commoner can advance-via accomplishments-to become regent of the kingdom. That said it is not a common occurance (Loghain had to be a key figure in saving Ferelden for this to happen) but it is possible. You, despite being a commoner or outsider can become a member of the aristocracy.
There doesn't seem to be much a trend for commoners (except mages) that limits their occupations in a hereditary fashion. So a farmer's son or daughter can attempt to become a merchant and the reverse.
In government bloodline may matter at least as much as merit or abilty, but people can still rise in station occasionally. In economic practices there is even more freedom-except for mages.
Governmental Stablity: Very Loose and limited
As with many hereditary monarchies civil wars can break out or major international or domestic policies change due to the individual rather than institution in charge.
Now there is some stability-there will be a bannon & king/queen-but slavery (the ending of which was a social milestone) can pop right back up with the wrong person in charge, though only in a highly limited fashion.
Gender Equality: Pretty good
Sure men do most of the fighting, ruling, and business. But women can and do serve in all these posts. As merchants, soldiers, aristocrats, priests (women even have an advantage here) women are unequestioned as to if someone with their gender can hold a position. Even if you claim Anora has no power compared what may be expected of a queen there is still a woman who is a bann and unquestionably makes her own decisions-as warden you may give her information that influences her at the Landsmeet but it is still her decision and nobody questions her right for it to be so.
Religious tolerance: Not as good but better than you may think
The chantry is the main religion in the area and others are expected to belong to it. City elves have long joined it and may be punished if they, en mass, adopted Dalish practices.
That said following a different faith doesn't instantly bring down punishment on the infidel (Witches of the wilds are punished more for their use of magic than religious views), dwarves and ash warriors pass unmolested.
As a gray Warden you can attempt to bring greater equlity for elves (not totally equality but a step closer to it), mages (with less success). You may be made an exception as a mage but mages as a whole aren't freed (check DA2). Elves in the alienage can be treated much better (depending on both on if the warden is a city elf and if Alistair becomes king-with or without Anora as queen). Now the governmental type won't change (it will still be a hereditary monarchy) but the Warden can impact society.
