Considering that the general consensus pre-release was that the game was going to suck, I don't see how it was overhyped.

BG is overrated. I oevrrated it. It's a middling game.
IWD was not BIO game.
ME was awesome.
KOTOR is overrated. It is BIo's worst RPG along with BG.
DA2 was just as good as DA1. Botha wesome games with flaws. *shrug*

Well, I'm glad we can all have a thoughtful and reasonable dialogue.
Given that the hype for DA2 was "rise to power, through any means neccessary" but only giving one real means (unless you consider fighting the Arishok in single combat, group combat or giving him the object he wants... no spoilers... as multiple ways to rise to power) and the promise that we'd feel the passage of time in a living breathing city, but the only changes are the closing of the Qunari area and the building of a statue, I'd say these two promises alone were over-hyping the game.
Just goes to show that no game that is coming in the shadow of "Game of the Year" can be built in 18 months. And that's a generous time frame I'm giving for the DA2 dev cycle.

Skyrim has a crashing issue , and still beats the ****** out of da2.
DA2 was garbage , lipstick on a pig.
Da2 was some kind of pokemon gone wrong experiment.
Was it overhyped , no not if you are refering to the massive hate it generated.
The game is now famous for what NOT to do to a fanbase.
Wouldn't surprise me if it becomes a slang term for crap.
