Bit confusing to have the same post there as well but I'll take myself the freedom to quote him:

Kind of a silly poll. They say there are three types of lies, Lies, Damned Lies, and statistics. No idea what value a poll is going to give you, or what argument you want such a poll to support.
You can go into gamespy when you play and count the players and servers. That would tell you how many exactly, and not be based on how loud different communities might be. NWN2 is not dead, despite many who seem to promote such an opinion, in fact i'd say it's more of an undead community, we're not going anywhere. The fact is that games don't have some hit point score, well for some people they do, but i frankly would be playing and deving this game even if i was doing it all by my lonesome. If it's all about numbers like that then most games are basically dead compared to that mega MMO which all the game companies seem to think is the only way to make any money.
I also have an application i've been working on, never launcher which has some features which allow me to tally up the total playing at any given time. ( there is a link to it here in forums from a few weeks ago ) On a saturday night at 10 pm, on a holiday weekend. This seems a bit lower than other times i've run it, i've seen 400 or so on NWN1 and more than twice that on NWN1 on a weekday. ( Haven for example, this is the first time i've seen it under 50 players )
NWN2 167 players on 80 servers
servers over 20
Forgotten realms 31
Haven 28
Baldurs gate 30
NWN1 695 players on 368 servers
servers over 20
Amia 30
Sinfar 74
Arelith 31
Heart of winter 31
Escape from undeath 24
Note that counting players which are full only per gamespy, will return fewer players. And there are servers not even listed on gamespy.
Also remember that the community includes NWN1, NWN2, persistent world admins, PVP lovers, Roleplayers, Arena players, adult oriented, spanish, french, german, and polish, and lets not forget those who just build modules and script new systems - each of which is it's own separate and very active community and very few games offer such variety.
Quite often it seems with new players, is they expect trivial game mods to the official story, not complete 10 hour adventures with voice overs, custom settings and hundreds of unique areas to explore. And then just one of those PW's listed, well even the ones with 8 players on, probably have thousands of hours of dev time by some very talented folks, which even with amateur effort starts to make what is officially released seem amateur in comparison.
Also we should be getting a influx of new players, Atari is now selling a complete boxed set of both NWN1 and NWN2, and there is now a steam sale going on.
