About the Seekers and the war...

1. Cassandra and Leliana seem to be equal in rank/importance in the Seeker organization, although depending on how you interpret the conversation its possible that Leliana is higher in rank than Cassandra (but they are obviously both more higher in rank than all the helmed soldiers standing around them.)

2. Some if not all Seekers want to find a peaceful solution to the Mage vs. Templar war, Leliana and Cassandra in particular. However they could not find Champion or the Hero of Ferelden/Grey Warden (which was their plan for a compromise/end to the war I believe) so now they have to proceed with the original plan. The original plan either being something involving the Maker (if you take what Leliana says literally) or it just means that war will happen. And I'm pretty certain its the latter.

3. Seekers are a black hand/secretive Chantry organization and they have a ranking system, Leliana and Cassandra seem to be higher ranking in the Seekers organization.

4. The majority of the Templars have split off from the Chantry and some are helping the mages (I think.)

5. In Act 3 there is a Seeker symbol on the gate to the Qunari compound. This shows that the Seekers were interested in all the problems happening in Kirkwall and not just the Circle vs. Meredith conflict...what this means is very open to interpretation though and full of possibilities.

6. Hawke and the Warden disappearing is clearly not a coincidence (Leliana's expository device/line, the two current most influential people in Thedas, the Warden's lack of reasons for disappearing, etc. etc., please don't argue this again.)

Anything else?

There is no reason to assume that Lelliana is a seeker at all to begin with.

Actually In the Exiled prince DLC there is a quest in act 3 called faith i believe in which it is revealed that Leliana is Sister Nightingale and the "Left Hand of the Divine" you meet her in the deceased Viscount's throne room after doing battle with some blood mages belonging to what she call the Resoloutionists an offshoot of the Circle of magi who believe in seperation from the chantry

Maybe Leliana just likes the outfit?

If DA3 picks up where DA2 left off, things should be interesting. If not, hopefully an expansion is on the way.

Funny thing about this part is that we know in Faith she is referred to as the Left Hand of the Divine.  Although she is wearing he uniform and Cassandra hands her the tome, this does not necessarily equate to her being a Seeker. She may be there in another capacity for the Divine and is wearing that armor to blend in. Leliana could perhaps have a higher station in the chantry than any of those in the Seeker ranks. Gaider has said that there is more in Leliana's story than has been revealed. After six playthrough's I am not totally convinced she is a Seeker despite her wearing of the uniform...especially since she is only seen in it once in three appearances in the main game and two dlc's. ;)

I got the impression that all Seeker's could be regarded as the "Left Hand of the Divine" - a very small circle of agents that the Divine knows personally and trusts implicitly, acting as their eyes and ears throughout Thedas to police the Chantry ranks and dealing with internal and external threats to the divine order. A bit like the Emperor's Hands from Star Wars. :P

Although you could probably say that Leliana is closer to the Divine than the other Seekers, due to the history they share. This doesn't have to mean a special rank for her, just more trust, and with this higher priority assignments.

I agree with the Seekers being the 'left hand of the divine'. Especially considering the codex entry on them. That said, I can't be the only one who thinks the 'disappearance' of both Hawke and The Warden are a plot device to have yet another 'new' hero if and when there is ever a DA 3.

While Cassandra is leading the Seekers, i think Leliana is more of the Divine's eyes and ears on the operation. She is working with the Seekers, since she was given the mission to find the Warden; she is more likely just overseeing them.

The Divine needed someone she could trust to look after them while she handles all the political fall out from the war, so she appointed Leliana. While i'm sure she trusts Cassandra, Orlais and Nevarra seem to have stained ties, and Cassandra is a member of the royal family. The Divine might have wanted to cover all her bases on that one. "Better safe than sorry," and all.

I'd rather they personally just go ahead and kill them off, so we have a conclusion instead of going 'They're there and still important to what's going to happen but uh....you just won't see or hear too much about what they're doing.'

Ugh, can you imagine what kind of s**tstorm would break loose on the forums? People were already raging because "their" hero didn't show up in DA2 and will not in DA3. :P

Though I will agree that a "disappearance" is pretty weak. Simply settling down to retire, or leading a not-so-heroic but still useful life in some important position sounds like such a better idea. But I suppose they had to keep things vague to not threaten the story of the various player endings.
