I think Shepard deserves to be promoted. I mean, he HAS saved the galaxy twice already and it could be 3 times by the end of ME3.

Na, not just a general, by the end of game shepard should be on the council. period.

right, because that worked out so well for the last former special operations officer put into an important political position he had no qualifications or desire to join.

I say leave him where he's at. He can do whatever he needs to do and rank be damned. He's done a General's or Admiral's job so far as a Commander, why break tradition? If you need a flag officer you have Anderson, the VS (after promotions), and Hackett.

Poor Shepard. Saves the galaxy once, gets killed, remains a Lt. Commander. Meanwhile others quickly advance through the ranks and even exceed him/her in a short period of time. Apparently in the future, it's really easy to earn a promotion. Lt Cmdr by age 29? That's pretty quick in itself!

For the sake of irony, I'd still turn it down. Septimus keeps coming to mind and I'd hate to see Shepard getting drunk in a bar, mooning over Liara while Vega tells him to get it together.

I don't think Shep would fall down that particular set of stairs, but the scene is just too much to resist, especially with Shep's love of alcoholic beverage.

my shep didn't burn any bridges he is paragon all the way. the council still living but he trust none of them to do any thing. he knows they are politicians they try to save their jods first than fix galaxy.

In the end however he will be killed by two British SAS operators from his ex task force. But not before plunging a knife directly into the chest of the younger SAS commando and critically wounding him.

Frankly if my Shepard survives all of this he's retiring from the military. My perfect ending would consist of Shepard retiring and helping a small town on Earth rebuild, away from media.
