Maybe just before or after the final battle against the Reapers, Commander Shepard should be promoted by Admiral Hackett to General Shepard. Or is that just wishful thinking.
I think Shepard deserves to be promoted. I mean, he HAS saved the galaxy twice already and it could be 3 times by the end of ME3.

Shepard you just killed 300,000 Batarians... here's a medal and a promotion to major general.
Only Major General?
I'd settle for nothing less than Warmaster. Also a snazzy coat and ceremonial power sword.

who will promoted him? Systems Alliance list him kia then kick him out and the Council will be too busy say sorry too everyone for not tell them about reapers. shepherd only choice is to make new military organization so he will be promoted.

Odd things have happened to Shepard. And they said humanity would never get a Spectre, well we showed them, didn't we?!
For the sake of irony, I'd still turn it down. Septimus keeps coming to mind and I'd hate to see Shepard getting drunk in a bar, mooning over Liara while Vega tells him to get it together.
....it could happen! Stop looking at me!

Not everyone burned those bridges thoroughly.

If Shepard was promoted to General he would command a multi-national spec ops task force tasked with fighting the Russian military. He will then proceed to orchestrate an elaborate plan to create US military recruits by provoking a Russian invasion of the United States.
After that he will then betray his muti-national task force in an attempt to cover up the evidence of his conspiracy. In the end however he will be killed by two British SAS operators from his ex task force. But not before plunging a knife directly into the chest of the younger SAS commando and critically wounding him.
