I know they're just trivial ingame items, but I love DA:O so much that I not only preordered the DDE, I also ended up buying a physical copy of the Collector's Edition, I have the Collector's Guide, and both books.

So having the items isn't necessary, but I'd like to have them and not just toolset replicas because I really want to give Bioware a big hand here. They did a friggin awesome job with this game (though it does really need a patching).

Guys it's just a trivial ingame item: expect hundreds of these once the toolset gets some wider usage. Besides, people purchasing the game between Nov 20-30th didn't get pre-order items now did they :P

Nono, you see I really couldn't give a crap about having a dagger.   It is the principal of the whole thing that grates on me.

Maybe they're going to add it to everyone's list after November 30th? I know some people have an "unregistered promotion" in their list.

The search feature is handy.

So far it doesn't look like the console players have access to all that the PC players do.  Hopefully that'll change soon.

All this free items you get from the start are nothing else than official cheats. So you shouldn´t really bother to get all of this stuff. For my next playthrough I will disable all of this crap, they put in your inventory at the start of the game.

P.S.: I hope someone has the time to make a little mod, which will make these things shop items.

Even if they are just silly little freebies and all that, I still think the official support of these 'official' items is quite weak. There should be a central place listing them if nothing else. Something more than a user created list 3/4's of the way down a huge FAQ dealing with every known bug in the DLC system.

And sure I could create one myself and quit whining about it, as you're likely thinking but that's not to the point. The point being that this DLC model is huge for the capitalization of this game... it means real money in the hands of the developers and the publishing house, so why aren't they supporting it?

I love the concept that I can get as much or as little content as I feel the game merits, and that I can pick and choose the modules based on player review. They hyped this concept quite a lot along the way, and yet they aren't supporting it at all. Frustrating.

Ayakashioni, thanks for the tip. Has downloaded the DLCs and opened the Content Updater but cannot drag anything from the downloaded folder into the daupdater? . Perhaps because there´s nothing called DAZIPS in these files? And the daupdater seems to only want DAZIP files?

Could you explain?

I didn't 'drag' my files into the daupdater. There is a button on the bottom 'Select DAZIP's' which lets you browse to the location of your 'my documents' folder or wherever you have downloaded the content to. Then you can select the file and add it to the updater. I added a whole bunch at one time, then once they were showing in the daupdater screen I used alt to select them all at once and clicked 'Install Selected'. They all loaded up, though the last little bit of the install bar took awhile to go green and I thought or awhile it might have gotten pooched.

When I logged into the game I went to Downloadable Content and checked the installed content tab, and there were all the patches I'd just installed with the daupdater. Some of them, like Warden's Keep for instance, showed as 'not authorized' as it should because I haven't bought it yet.

Hopefully that covers it for you.

Silrathi, `Select DAZIP´s` doesn´t seem to find any files.

I´ve packed up and I´ve browsed through to the right file but I simply cannot get it to actually select these files.

My only option is ´open´, not ´select´ and if I choose to continue to open all of the contest inside the file then at last it simply says "no objects match the seek"...

Itsn´t important but I only wanted to test it.

(sorry, I'm Swedish so I cannot exactly explain because my perhaps bad english but....)

Is there a list somewhere that shows ALL the available DLC and how it is acquired?

Yes, there is. Check out this link: Overview about DLCs

I've had The Edge (and three other items that I found on the tech support forums that don't require authorization...) installed for a while now, but I'm still mad about it. It doesn't show up as a registered in-game promotion item on my account, which means that I need to keep the dazip files handy to manually install them whenever I reinstall the game. :(

Plus, I have a feeling that there will be authorization required in the near future.

The Edge will be available to anyone - including those that already own DA:O - that register their game by Nov 30 on any platform (read the small print).

Shortly after the 30th the item will appear in your downloadable content screen (off main menu) ready to download.

We're aware of the dlc issues some players are still having, and we're working on fixes for that for upcoming patches. Please make sure you are posting/following the appropriate threads on the support forum here.

Also, please be aware that there is a difference between manually grabbing dlc as some users are suggesting, and actually having the dlc associated with your account.

This is the sort of thing that should be pushed to everyone who purchased and registered the game before November 30th, not just the latecomers. There is no good reason to make the item exclusive to those who registered between November 15th and November 30th, or whatever the window exactly is.

Like another said, it is not the item that vexes me, as I really do not need more loot, it is the principle of the matter. Why not give this to everyone, particularly those who went out and got the game right away?

I do not like having to use a workaround for something I really should have if BioWare/EA was operating like a logical company.

Edit: Of course Fernando posted about 1 minute before this post went through and quelled my concerns. Yay! 6 days to go!

So will there be issues with accounts for those who manually installed this dlc?

I noticed that Lion's Paw Boots (which I thought were an Amazon-exclusive), Vigilance, and Wicked Oath are also available as "manual install" DLC that don't require authorization.  Are you aware of that?  Will we be allowed to continue using these items, or are there plans to restrict them at some point in the future?  As far as I can tell, Wicked Oath and Vigilance don't have any promotions going for them.

It's not that hard to uninstall DLC, if that ends up being the case.  I'm willing to bet that we'll have The Edge associated with our social accounts and the game will just see that it's already been downloaded and installed.

That list is from someone being industrious enough to troll through the online download servers or aggregating the download links from several accounts. Either way that doesn't come from us, and as such we don't officially support that.

To be clear, I don't think we'd ever purposefully do something to make those stop working. But at the same time we wouldn't be actively testing against that sort of setup when doing updates or future dlc.

That's mostly true.  You can obtain Lion's Paw Boots (Amazon item), Vigilance (?), The Edge (register before 30 Nov.), and Wicked Oath (?) for free right now.  None of them require authorization.  Other retailed-exclusive items (such as the Guildmaster's Belt) and not free and do require authorization.

Hmm, I smell a reinstall coming up. :P

Edit: Learned that .dazip addons can be easily removed from \\My Documents\\Bioware\\Dragon Age\\Addins in case anyone else was unaware of this.

I really understand that we only can get the dlcs we payed for, But it´s an mystery for me when some as you, Siefz, claims that we legally can get Vigilance, Wicked Oath, Lion´s Paw for free but where could we find these items? In my list of avaible items no one of them are listed???

Go to the DA:O Tech Support forum and open up the sticky topic about fixing DLC.  Somewhere near the bottom of the first post is a list of DLC and links to download the DAZIP files.  Download them (you'll have to manually change the extension from .zip to .dazip if you use Internet Explorer), then open the daupdater.exe program (<place where you installed DA:O>/bin_ship/daupdater.exe).  Drag the DAZIP files into that window, select them all, and then click "Install."

Be careful, though.  You can install everything, but you'll get an "unauthorized" message if you try to use one that isn't freely available or registed to you (such as Guildmaster's Belt).  The only free DLC are the ones that I listed previously.
