Serious discussion? You are joking right? You make a broad claim about the vanity of tali fans (which apparently you missed the page where the fans reiterated how looks didn't matter? Of course that has been said many times by a variety of fans but hey lets paint everyone with a broad stroke right?) and then say you are going to avoid the forums, which apparently you are not.

The talk about tali not being alien enough was a discussion about how bioware should be creative with the quarian race as a whole, instead of another "human" alien race like the asari. Of course that apparently translates to "tali must be hawt or we won't like her" in your language, or perhaps you also didn't catch the jokes we were making about how she should have a beard?

We are bored! There is nothing left to speculate about tali or any other character that hasn't already been retread hundreds of times. What we have left is low humor between fellow forumites. If you want us to discuss something else in there feel free to bring it up, but this topic does not scream serious discussion here.

I think that the spectators would win in that fight, no matter what else happened.

My own Tali-fandom started shortly after she came on board the Normandy in ME1, mainly because of her interest in the Normandy and its systems. It showed she had a passion for her work as an engineer, which I liked (I'm a scientist/engineer myself).

I was disappointed that Tali wasn't a romance option in ME1, primarily because the other options were a religious xenophobe and a socially awkward bookish type. I romanced Tali in ME2 for much the same reason: I prefer an upbeat, enthusiastic personality over an arrogant one or a sociopath.

Not that I'm saying Ashley, Liara, Miranda and Jack aren't interesting characters; I just wouldn't want to date them.

Long Answer: Reading through the support section, it's quite clear where their "affections" lie.

The mask.

Her anonmity, allows the fans to force whatever unrealistic fetishes they have onto her. When she is revealed, and trust me she will be.  We can all take pleasure in watching Tali fan's lose their heads. Not only do I expect a monumental amount of wailing. One that will no doubt be deemed  the BSN Holy War.

Topics filled to the brim with "TALI IS NOT HOT ENOUGH" or "TALI IS NOT ALIEN ENOUGH"

I plan to just avoid the forums for those 2 weeks or maybe 3.

Haha, I wont flame you, but  I will say that the mask was never a part of her attraction in my case. What makes her so adorable is her personality, shyness, and ability to slip up uintentionally in conversations.

And she combines that with an otherwise strong personality. She may have a lot of incredible cuteness to her, but she combines that with being an adult. She is responsible and has the ability to deal with stuff like the risk of being thrown out of the fleet, not to mention she is a fighter and leader when she has to be. Have met a few girls like that out in the real world, and all of them top my charts, regardless of whether they are supermodels or merely average looking.

So, regardless of her looks, it's not her looks that does it. Although if she is really really bad, she might want to keep the helmet on. But I trust my Shepard since he has seen her. :innocent:

I may be in a minority, but I'd rather the flurry of fan out rage over her appearance than a calm acceptance of everyone. Seriously, the first 2 weeks after release, I'm never gonna be on the forums since I'll be playing the game through about 4 characters. If after that, I log on and see twenty outraged threads about how alien she looks and requests for modders to fix it, I'll die of giggles. If I come back and it's all sweet harp music and effusive praise, I'll be pleased at the quality of the game, and annoyed that I can't see a bunch of random stangers argue over something stupid. So no mocking the Tali- or Miri- mancers fot their obsessions, they're the roadside accident that make these forums a great place to gawk incredulously.

I don't know what the BioWare team has planned for Tali but I'm sure I'll be surprised.

That said, one of my multiple ME2 character saves is a Shepard who had a relationship with Tali in ME2. If I continue the Tali relationship with that character in ME3 then I d@mn well better get to see Tali's face before the end of the game.

It was "cute" how the writers handled Tali's appearance in ME2 but for the CONCLUSION of the Shepard story people who fell in love with Tali should get to see her face.

If some people really don't want to see her face then maybe it can be a decision tree in the game (click one response to look at Tali without the helmet or click the other response to keep Tali's helmet on).
