Would Tali Fans still like Tali if she wasn't "hot"?

Except Morinth. That "actively trying to kill you" bit tends to be a deal breaker.

Am I only one that likes all characters( but Morinth and pre-LotSB Liara)?
Considering the thread she made some time ago the same goes for AdmiralCheez and several others...
The sole exception could be Morinth, but that's probably just because she is around for very little time and her character doesn't recieve proper development outside what little Samara said and a bit of dialogue with her after you recuit her...
As for the wanting to kill you, it may be appalling, but it's in character for her, so if you take her along it should be expected...

To be fair shep is also pretty cringe worthy to miranda as well. Especially during romance.
No doubts about that.

What is it about her personality that's so captivating? The character is simple minded, she's emotionally immature, socially childish, and way too nervous to be considered attractive by an adult. Much less so if that adult is a galaxy trotting marine who has little time to fritter away with someone who has the maturity of a high school sophomore.
You described the majority of ME characters, congragulations.
Seriously you could say that about every character in the game and fans can refute every argument you have. You say Tali is emotionally childish? I could say the same for jack, ashley, miranda and any other character. Jack hides behind her childish rebel attitude, ashley tries to fall on the sword in the namer of her family honor, and miranda has control issues.
Is that an oversimplification of these characters? Yup. Same thing you are doing though. Also you seem to be confusing tastes and opinion with fact, might want to watch that.
How am I mixing the two? Everything I said is based on opinion. I find her too immature to fit in with the rest of the crew or the situations they encounter. Yet it doesn't erase the fact that there's very little character development between the two games. In ME1 the majority of her dialogue pertains to her culture, and how the rest of the council races treat them. and in ME2 the trend continues, with very little personal detail and what little there is is intertwined with her father and quick course in the Quarian judicial system. Then when we finally touch on her personal dialogue we find that she's infatuated with Shepard through "hero worship." Simplified or not, I think this is a very immature way to get romantically involved with someone.
As for the other characters:
Jack has a lot of personal revelations, and you realize she's complex in her mistrust of people, and isn't "rebelling" against the galaxy just because, but through a lifetime of abuse and mistrust. That and all of her dialogue pertains to her history, her personality, her psychological make-up and her involvement with Shepard.
Miranda is a bit more shallow, but you understand through her history with her father and Cerberus that she has a reason to seek control over situations and persons and why she views Cerberus' platform of dominance favorably.
Ashley --your argument on this is really perplexing-- protrays herself as selfless in service to her family. Traveling light years to walk her sister to school, idolizing her family as a whole, and making it her life mission to redeem her family's honor. How is that childish in any sense of the word? Selflessness takes a lot of emotional maturity. To put your personal life aside in order to help someone else takes a lot of inward reflection, and stregnth.
Tali doesn't show an iota of character development over two games that all of these characters showed in a single game each. She has very little personality to speak of, and what she does have sounds like a teenager hanging out with grown-ups, going on the trip of a life time. She did have an emotional scene or two during her LM, but without the development there it rings hollow.
Your skin doesn't shiver like it does when you walk through Teltin and remeber what Jack has told you about Cerberus. Your heart doesn't become light like when you see Miranda seeing her sister and knowing she's safe. You don't feel inspired when you hear Ashley talk about her sister knocking out her abuser on the way to school.
But I digress, what is it about Tali's personality that is endearing?

But I digress, I have to get off here so I only have enough time to respond to one paragraph, which will be the last one.
Although I have to say, you shivered in teitlin, heart became light with mirandaand her sister, and inspired by ashley's story.... Yet you felt nothing when tali's father died? Her last living flesh and blood crumpled on the floor, who despite his coldness was only doing everything he could for her and her people. You are nitpicking here mate. Tali has plenty of character, which I am sure someone with more time will tell you.

If it's completely different than the placeholder already there, well, yeah. Anything beyond that field of view is just about up for grabs.

Lets not come down of the Tali fanbase for being exactly like every other fanbase, they all have *squeee* "so hot" moments. Lets stop being crazy people now... the other forums are laughing at us.

To be honest, I think Tali is getting more attention from haters then she is from her fans right now. This is silly though, there is like a new Tali hate thread/post every two seconds in an attempt to bait Talimancers and fans... I know peple must be angry about their fave characters lack of speacial attention but it happens in every game, you always lose squadmates and keep some. Who cares why they like Tali. They like her cause she's "hot", they like her cause she's quirky. They like her cause she's kinda like Merrill but less wide eyed innocence. Tali has grown and faced trials and no character is going to please everyone. Just let it go people. This character/fanbase hate degrades us all. Would Thane still be my fave if he looked like a Volus? No. Wouls Garrus still be a favorite if he looked like a keeper? Maybe, lol but this only counts with Garrus cause he already has a lot of "you don't look even remotely similar to a human, am I weird for loving you?" moments. Would anyone like Miranda if she looked like... *insert ugliest chick you know*.

Fact; Tali is a very cool character. But a bit overrated
Well she's more than a bit overrated. Hell even Bioware doesn't get why people love her so much. And this whole "show her face" business in just putting unnecessary pressure on Bioware. It's like when people pressured Bungie to show Master Chief's face, and Bungie didn't do it saying his actions are more important than what he looks like.

Bit of a difference here though, its not just tali who has her face hidden but the entire quarian race. Its a bit obnoxious considering anyone with the in universe equivilant of google could find out in five seconds while the players are trolled about it.

Personally i think the safest thing Bioware can do is show what a quarian looks like unmasked, but not show Tali. At least then people will have an easier time imagining what she looks like. If they show her face, the Tali fanbase is gonna be split in half. Those that complain about it and those that don't.

I don't.
I'm fine either way. If someone feels like they have to complain, that's fine, as long as they aren't assuming that their opinion is the opinion of the whole damn fanbase.

Personally, I would like a face that looks alien over a face that looks 'hot.'
Shepard and Tali's relationship is based on trust and loyalty. And so, to me, having an 'Asari' type face that is very human and typically beautiful would cheapen that relationship for me. The whole point is that Shepard isn't with Tali because of what she looks like, but because of what they have been through together.
