It would be weird if Shepard got back together with the VS....period.

I consider Shep's relationship with Kaidan to be interrupted by the annoying "dying" thing in ME2. They didn't break up. They were forced apart, and now that they can get together again, they will. Kaidan clearly hadn't moved on and was suggesting to resume the relationship via email. All Shep needs to do now is apologize for Horizon and everybody is happy.
Until one of them dies again...probably for good this time. Dare you, BioWare!

1. It was only a few weeks for Shepard, really.

2. Trying to get together after a rough breakup is a little different than COMING BACK FROM THE DEAD.

3. Kaidan still cares!

4. True love transcends time and space and all that sh*t.

I think the main point your missing is this isn't like relationships in real life. They weren't not together because they chose to. They weren't together because of what was happening around them, because shepard was working with someone who kaidan/ash was against. There was official dumping so technically, they're still together. :)

Maybe it would be weird if *your* Shep and the VS got back together (the same applies for me) but that doesn't apply for everyone's Shep.

People stop applying what counts for your Shep for everyone Shep unless it's canonized behavior.

They were on a break okay? It's totally like true love, dude. Not the beauty and the beast kind of love where Kaidan was all gross then turned hawt. No, it was totally the Cinderalla kind of love where Shepard was the prince and Kaidan was the scullery maid. Definately.

Can Wrex be the fairy godmother?

Because that would make my life.

Garrus, you're a horse.

There is no such thing as "your" or "my" Shepard as far as the games are concerned. If you're referring to people's headcanon, then you're talking about fanfiction drivel that doesn't belong here.

As for the OP's post, it's his opinion, not a fact.

I'm saying this for a bunch of reasons, not the least of which is the time that has passed between them but most importantly, based in part on real life, how many of us want to get back together with someone who dumped us? Seriously...so I meet up with my ex a few years down the line and forget that she dumped me (and in my case cheated on me) and say, sure, let's give it another try. Shepard has got to be smoking crack, time and distance weaken feelings, that's just a fact so it is perfectly understandable that the VS kind of has forgotten about Shepard. I'm making an exception for Liara but even she offers the 'just friends' line. When relationships are done, they are done so for the sake of realism don't do it Shepard!

Course Shep is smoking crack. No one is stupid enough to compare human diversity to different Asari skin colours.

Yes there is. People roleplay their Shepard's differently. I guess you don't understand RP since you call it "fanfiction drivel".

Shepard is a static character, much unlike the protagonists of previous BioWare RPG's. He/she already has an established personality, characterized by the name and the voice. That alone punches a universe-sized hole in the notion that you can "roleplay" the character, because that amounts to nothing but superimposing your own colors and strokes to a canvas that has already been painted, so to speak.

Shepard is a "Choose your own adventure"-protagonist with visual modifications, not a D&D pen-n-paper character that you get to intricately design from the ground and up.

And I do understand RP, since I am an avid roleplayer. With that in mind, Shepard is never a personal character like the ones from D&D. You just decide what he/she does and how he/she looks.

If you heard Raphael Sbarge read it, all women would want to go back to Kaidan.

All I'm going to say is that every relationship is different, and so is love. Ugh that sounds so corny.

Actually, the way he read it reminded me of my creepy ex-boyfriend.

I kind of wanted to run the hell away.

Not that it wasn't sweet (and a very nice reading), but kind of hit the wrong tones in the right places.

FREAK COINCIDENCE, YET RUINED FOREVER.

Rachael Shepard: Things got a little intense back then and to be honest I was a little distracted from the main mission back then. I made mistakes, ones that I don't intend to make ever again. There is too much at stake here. I'm happy to have my old squadmate back, but only as a fellow soldier and perhaps a friend, but nothing more.

James Vega: Who was he? What was his name?

Rachael Shepard: It doesn't matter.

Kaidan Alenko: Hi.

Rachael Shepard: I should go.

Same scene but with John Shepard

John Shepard:
Things change. You move on. You know what I'm saying?

James Vega:
Yeah I get that, but what was she like? Was she the first alien you ever slept with?

John Shepard: Oh hell no.

Tali Zorah: Shepard. We need to talk.

Miranda Lawson: Shepard! We need to talk.

Liara T'Soni: Shepard we need to talk

John Shepard:
On that note. I should definitely go!:P

Did we play the same game? Shepard died he/she wasn't dumped, and Horizon was nothing more than a argument, and relationships always have arguments. So it's realistic enough. Anwyay even if it wasn't realistic it wouldn't matter, realism went out the window for Mass Effect when Shepard came back from the dead.

Rest easy OP. I'm sure BioWare won't let VS rape your Shepard in ME3.
