Best mission of the series

I liked Noveria, but I ended up getting lost on my first couple of playthroughs. But it is all worth it for Wrex's epic line:
'They are fools. You should eat them.'

After that I'd have to choose the suicide mission... despite the boss being silly the whole mission leading up to it was a nervous, fast paced thrill... I still have good memories of how much I enjoyed it on my first playthrough... and while fighting a baby reaper felt goofy, the ending was satisfying and so was 99% of the final mission leading up to the last scene and dialogue.

Otherwise, Ilos and the subsequent Battle of the Citadel in ME1 come a close second and third for me, great settings, conversations and music.

It generally seems that LotSB, Illos / end run and the Suicide Mission are the best missions of the series, if these sort of threads are anything to go by. Noveria is good, but not quite up there with those three imo.
I didn't like Noveria. Kept reminding me that I hate snow and the rachni were just as annoying.
No, that spot goes to the battle of the Citadel for me.

They need to continue the MUSIC trend in ME3. It will add like a whole other dimension.
Otherwise I'm trading it back; is what I would say if I were one of the raving lunatics that plague the forums.

Also loved Arrival "last stand" - Shepard's biggest test in the series IMO.

-Mordin and Tali LM: great balance between story and character development and combat.
-Suicide mission: loved that Shep can order his team and assign specific task to each one.

Correction Number 1: Sovereign is encountered on Virmire, not Ilos.Tasha vas Nar Rayya wrote...
Ilos was my favourite in fact. The music, the planet, the atmosphere. And then the conversation with Sovereign and meeting Virgil. It was the moment where everything that the storyline had led up to fitted in place. By far my favourite mission.
Correction Number 2: The prothean VI on Ilos is named Vigil, not Virgil.
Correction Number 3: Contrary to popular belief, cats cannot become space marines and say "Dayum Shame" in a heavy southern accent when things do not go their way.

Is it generally agreed that Noveria is by far the best mission in the entire series - unsurpassed dramatically.
I don't disagree with your post, except on this point. The most dramatic moment in the ME series is the background assignment, "I Remember Me". I found myself choking up while talking with Talitha while at the same time being amazed that a video game was having such an emotional effect.
Just sayin'. Back to what you were talking about.

Good exposition on the Quarian race, as well as good dramatic writing and a very intriguing choice (that sorta gets ruined by the Para/Rene system, but oh well).

But Virmire has the best moments for me in the entire series.
The death of Kaidan or Ashley. I always feel bad when I leave one of them behind.
The talk with Wrex. The first time I was scared ****less.
Kirrahe's epic speech... Shepard is not even close to Kirrahe in the SM, not at all!
The first talk with Sovereign and Saren confrontation.
And a big explosion.
Virmire has it all!

Yes. It is the Colonist background assignment, and I almost missed it as I had only done play-throughs as a Spacer.
You speak with a confused woman who has just been rescued from a life of slavery with batarians. Her story and mental state are tragic and gut-wrenching.
(Did I say 'speak'? I mean, 'talk down'. She broke away from her rescuers and grabbed a gun. She's terrified and has no memory of being able to think for herself.)
