Ilos was my favourite in fact. The music, the planet, the atmosphere. And then the conversation with Sovereign and meeting Virgil. It was the moment where everything that the storyline had led up to fitted in place. By far my favourite mission.

Correction Number 1: Sovereign is encountered on Virmire, not Ilos.

Correction Number 2: The prothean VI on Ilos is named Vigil, not Virgil.

Correction Number 3: Contrary to popular belief, cats cannot become space marines and say "Dayum Shame" in a heavy southern accent when things do not go their way.

Correction Number 4: There is no Correction Number 3.

Gah! Parado--

I gotta say Feros. The sheer amount of loot and hidden goodies. Whether on the sky bridge and ship fighting the Geth, or fighting off Thorian creepers or possessed Asari. The constant " Oh S*#t" response when creepers or a big Juggernaut comes right at you and your weapon is trying to cool down, that kind of thing is great! The fight to get to soverign is great to especially if you found that ammo on Vermire that turns your sniper rifle into a 50 cal. On Roids that pops those turrets in two shots. Epic.

I loved Noveria, and I really like Samara's loyalty misson just for the all the different things you can do before Morinth approaches you. These two followed by the Suicide mission, Virmire, Ilos, Lair of the Shadow broker and Overlord, I loved the Citadel in ME1 for all the things you can do, it's not really a mission though as it's a hub world with several great little side quests like ''I remember me''.

Please, Virimire was ok. The choice between ash and Kaiden was utterly pointless (you mean to tell me that no one, not one single crew member or squadmate got out of the ship to help protect the bomb? What were they doing? Playing with themselves?), but aside from that glaring plothole, I liked it.

My choice would be Overlord, Lair of the Shadowbroker, or Suicide Mission (otherwise known as how Virmire should have been done).

For me it's Overlord, Ilos, and Virmire.

Virmire: The talk with Sovereign really set the tone for the dark days ahead, working with the STG captain (can't spell his name), and thats just a couple of the great things about that mission

Ilos: Atmosphere and setting was just perfect and the talk with Vigil was great

Noveria: Like Ilos had atmopshere and alsoa great soundtrack, the meeting with the Rachni queen was very memroable

Feros: It has Shiala (sp), also the battle with the Thoran, and its creeper's was fun

LOTSB: The Sky car, the boss fight's and the combat on the SB base, a fantastic DLC, but rather over priced

Project Overlord: This is my favourite DLC, Like the soundtrack, good to see some more exploration and a very dramatic ending

Arrival: The Atmosphere and Soundtrack is my favourite in all of ME2 really felt like a prologue to ME3

SM: The best mission in all of vanilla ME2, without question, like blowing up the CB,  though its easy to save everyone and the final boss is just a giant terminator

Tali recuritment: This mission was very challenging and had the only good boss fight in vanilla ME2

Like many others here, I feel that there are too many to choose from, in order to have to place them in to any sort of ranking system would be too much like hard work haha!

My highlights:

LOTSB for the atmosphere, the ME3-style pacing and structure, gripping plot line, new mechanics (skycars!) and prelude to LI confrontation (I had Liara and then Miranda - ouch!).

Virmire, Ilos and the battle for the Citadel: incredible ending to an incredible game, settings, frantic pace that still let you acquire new allies and learn more about the universe (Sovereign and Vigil).

Suicide Mission: large scale team management, epic finale, a chance to speak my mind to TIM and my LI resigning once she saw what the true objective of her employer was.

Overlord: emotional, the ending almost made me tear up - and yet another reason to doubt Cerberus and their ideals.

Arrival: final precursor to ME3, not in any way on the level of LOTSB but still very good.

Eden Prime and the Citadel: Shepard's personal attachment to the threat of the Reapers, kicking off running battles with the Council.

The real question is how is it that Kirrahe and his squad make it out, but Ash/Kaidan do not.

I always thought Mordin loyalty mission was the "best" mission of all the missions in the game.

Problem with ME2 is that there really aren't a lot of "main missions" if you think about it. There's Horizon, the collector ship, the reaper IFF and finally the suicide mission.

Compared to Virmire and Noveria, they all come off as "weak" other than the Suicide Mission.

But of the smaller quests/missions, the loyalty missions were better than most of the side missions in Me 1.

That utterly depends on who you leave with the bomb, and who you choose to leave behind.  Generally, leaving the one with Kirrahe behind kills Kirrahe and the STG team, doesn't it?

No, I always send Kaidan with his team...and usually he tells you that Kirrahe is dead before you have to make the ultimate choice as to which you save between Ash n Kaidan...( I always chose to save Ash )

Kirrahe's survival depends only on how you handle the approach to Saren's base (blow up the targets he's talking about over the comm, don't set off the alarms in his neighbourhood). This kind of makes sense, as the STG forces were split into three squads, and only Ash/Kaidan's squad found themselves stuck in the tower. I assume Kirrahe and Rentola and their squads got picked up by the Normandy at seperate sites.

It does beg the question of why there was no one else except Ash/Kaidan at the bombsite. If you return to the site, the VS is the only one there. If you save whoever is in the tower, the shot pans to Ash/Kaidan defending the bomb solo before it blows. No bodies of STG or Alliance Marines...

That only happens if you miss out on doing things like destroying the geth fliers. If you do everything right, Kirrahe will live, and regardless of whether you go to the bomb site or AA tower.

Tali's recruitment mission on insanity has become my favorite mission in the series; two weapons (smg and assault rifle) and few upgrades as rewards and entire level is well done open area and it offers lot of challenge if it's done right after Horizon. After that LotSB, Project Overlord, Virmire, Noveria, Feros and Therum with vehicle combat and other things segmented in them.

"Best" and "Favourite" are highly subjective. But also realise the other end of the spectrum can be good as well: Dark and Painful.

One mission, in the entire series, has actually provoked more feelings than any other, and even after some 7-10 times thru it, I still get the same feeling I had as when I first went thru it. Yes, it could have been done much better, but it also shows that not everyone should be pleased with things.

Of course, I speak of Horizon. Especially with the VS as LI. That one confrontation, especially as between lovers, sticks out more than any one other mission Shepard goes on (Note: I don't have Arrival).

Kaidan (as I play it) and Ashley speak rather hastily, and Shepard replies rather hastily, and coupled with the fact that even Shepard doesn't know the entire story (and you don't get that info until you meet Liara on Illium), so can't defend his/her position, you are only going to get trouble.

Yes, Horizon suffers from much, and could be done much better, but for what it's meant (Keeping the VS from going on the SM, and showing that Shepard isn't some sort of demi-god), it definitely provokes enough emotion (good or bad) to be up there among the best, if darkest, missions.

I really enjoyed Noveria, Virmire, Suicide Mission, and Citadel Exhaust Plain.

There are really very few missions in the series I specifically don't like though. Most are good.
