Just a star? How about 3? :D
Dang I knew I was forgetting something on my list.
The only thing they could of changed was allowing you to bring a squaddie.
Have Tali or Garrus and have them speak special dialouge.

Hell even pushing Joker in a wheel chair would of been great.

But over all , besides the sad feeling I always get in my stomach.. it was good.:wizard:

I never understood why you couldn't take squadmates with you. The old ones could have commented on their memories, and the new ones could get a look at Shepard's past (since Shepard seems to get tangled up in everyone else's past, haha)

Joker should have been an obvious choice. He's a pilot and he loved that ship. EDI could have easily controlled the SR-2 while Shep and Joker went to go check out the wreckage. I totally put the momument close to the cockpit in honor of Joker, haha.

Anyways...

My favorite missions were (in no particular order) Overlord, Shadow Broker, Suicide Mission, Noveria and Ilos. :)

My favorite was the Suicide mission, especially the first time I played it. My heart was pounding while I tried to decide who to send to do what in order to make sure everyone lived. it wasn't until I managed to save everyone that I realized how painfully obvious the choices were. Still, Harbinger and the swarms of Collectors coming towards you makes it a great mission.

I also liked Samara's final mission because of her fight with Morinth. yeah, don't judge me! :P

LotSB was pretty awesome too.

As far as ME1 is concerned, I really enjoyed Ilos. It was kind of spooky seeing all of those Prothean statues, but somehow, it made me feel right at home. :P

ME1: Virmire and Ilos. First for having me choose between two team mates, even if they weren't my favorites, was a bit heartbreaking the first time around. Meeting Vigil on Illos nearly made me crap my pants from excitement with that bit of plot reveal.

ME2: Arrival. Sure, there were a lot of missions in ME2 that I absolutely loved, but Arrival completely blew me away especially being "just" DLC content. Sure, a lot of people complain that it was terrible in that it caused you to fight without your team. For me though, that was the lynchpin in what made it so great. The countdown clock gave a sense of urgency, and the decision to notify the Batarians of impending doom (even though I hate the Batarians in general) added to the dramatics. Of course, they die regardless but I didn't know that they would for sure on my first playthrough. The only thing that disappointed me was Joker not making a snarky remark at the end, which said to me that they couldn't get Seth Green to provide his talents to the product.

The mission on Illos had the most poignancy for me while talking to Vigil. For some reason, that music hits me hard when speaking to one of the last vestiges of a race and hearing how they struggled and fought to give us a chance against the Reapers. I still remember my awe in the final showdown as Shepard raced up towards the Council Chambers with Sovereign looming overhead.
Kasumi's mission was refreshing, entertaining, creative and heartfelt. You discovered layers of complexity in Kasumi while getting to witness a rather controversial issue with technology that has not been reached yet. What do you do when faced with an experience of your loved one's memories? All of our existence is based upon memory and without it, we are born anew (or die, however you see it). To have that very proof of our existence treated as a commodity to be traded, auctioned, analyzed and pawed over by petty greed and ambition...it brings a lot of questions as to the nature of humans.

Grrrrr, I hate quoting an entire post but I can never get the hang of the snippy thing, Anyhoo!

- quick tip - just find the text you want  type in the <bracket"quote"closebracet>  in the beginning and with  forwardslash at the end, delete what you dont want and ouila!

all that running for 500 credits and no real reward

Inamorda or Anoleis will give you more...and more ways to screw Opold..

I just don't feel there's enough about Gianna's character at the moment to really care about her

just a quick rundown

Gianna is bright, intelligent, competent and attractive, a self-made career gal from a working class upbringing who is completely comfortable moving among the rich and famous.  She's not at all impressed with power or position - and takes a special satisfaction in hanging arrogance and abuse of power out to dry.

She got a sardonics sense of humor, obviously feels on equal terms with anyone, including Shep.  Gianna is the only one ballsy enought to deflate Shep's exalted sense of purpose - "...I know my work can't possibly be as important as your, fate of the galaxy, trillions of lives..." i'm paraphrasing but you get the point.

She's got her own, very real, very believable, and quite interesting life, nothing to do with "saving-the-galaxy-from-unimaginable-horror."    She's in charge of her own life, taking herself on a self-made adventure through the galaxy.  And that quick peck on the cheek was more for sheps benefit than hers.  She more than any other [not godhelpus Verner] is the representative that makes humanity worth saving.

...and my shep would be a lucky dude indeed to land a catch like her.

Thanks for the tip, I shall practice my snipping in future posts Image IPB

That's quite the run down on Gianna, I actually feel a tad guilty now she annoys me so much now, I'll make more of an effort to talk to her on my next playthrough and who knows maybe I'll become a Gianna fan yet!

Don't get me wrong, I don't think Noveria is a total waste, I love the Benezia confrontation espicially with Renegade Shep, some pretty cool lines he has there and I think the Racni Queen decision is the most morally challenging in the entire game. I've only been able to bring myself to kill her once and that was just so I could have an ME3 import with her dead.

And there is Han Olar too, I feel really bad for him and it's quite the heart wrenching conversation when you talk to him.

But overall I still find Noveria to be one of my least favourite sections of ME1. I like Ilos for the atmosphere you have and despite the Vigil break, which is a fair point, the sense of urgency in getting to Saren. I like Virmire because of Kiarrahe and his "Hold the line" speech and how guilty I feel leaving Ashley to die (I've only left Kaidan once!). I just don't feel anything like that anywhere else on Noveria and always find myself thinking, "I need to get Noveria over with now".

But this thread has been most enlightening, I think I will pay more attention to it on my next play through and see if I can get more out of it. Image IPB

My favourites (how can I pick one?):

Noveria: One thing I missed in ME2 was the really long missions which felt like a journey and a struggle rather than a quick battle. The story gripped throughout, the atmosphere was amazing, and there were so many ways to get through Rift Station. I can overlook the bugs and stupid moments (WTF VENTRALIS?!). Truly memorable.

Virmire: Again, this was one hell of a journey. Intense as hell, and the environment was huge, I felt overwhelmed. I absolutely loved the hidden areas. When I saw the imprisoned salarians it was pretty emotional, as was the choice between Ash and Kaidan (Kaidan all the way). And the convo with Sovvy...wow. Only bummer was the red beam of death that pissed me off to no end.

Ilos: Just incredible. Beautiful atmosphere (helped immensely by some of the series' best music), heart-pounding gameplay (I really felt like time was running out) and an amazing climax.

Battle Of The Citadel: Took my breath away when I realised what I had to do. Walk up the Citadel Tower with the wards over my head. Genius. Also loved the combat in this mission, and the ending was mindblowing. So epic.

Destruction Of The Normandy: Spacewalking. Nuff said.

Mordin's RM: Atmosphere was amazing, loved the music. Level design made the combat brilliant. Loads of side rooms and hidden extras. And potentially quite a long mission. Plus, Mordin.

Haestrom: The music. The freaking music, and the boss fight. And the rest of the combat.

Bekenstein: Good mix of gameplay, an awesome environment, and I love Kasumi. Especially in combat (Shadow Strike never gets old). Plus, extras!!!

Migrant Fleet: Dialogue was some of the best in the series, return of Haestrom's epic music, and I finally got the last ship model!

Suicide Mission: Doesn't get much more epic than this. Trying to keep everyone alive is intense (at least the first time) and the climax is just awesome (I think I'm the only one here who liked the Human Reaper boss fight). Made every minute I spent collecting and helping squaddies worth it.

Lair Of The Shadow Broker: Best looking mission in the series, methinks. Illium car chase is fantastic (Truck. I know. Truck! I KNOW!). Shadow Broker Ship is sooo unique, as is flinging enemies up into the atmosphere (weeeeeeeeeeeeeZAP!). Loved Vasir and the Shadow Broker, and everything you get after the fight's over makes for one hell of a DLC pack.

Actually, I think the solo return works better (for me) - Shep alone with her (or his) own thoughts and feelings - I could fantasize that these very private, very personal reminiscences are the final proof that, Lazarus and TIM notwithstanding, she/he is still the same Shepard that landed on Eden Prime.

Is it generally agreed that Noveria is by far the best mission in the entire series -  unsurpassed dramatically. brilliant writing (mostly), and unforgettable characterization?  It is also is well up there (ME1 vintage implementation) in terms of gameplay and combat.

Bioware has so far not come close - and I seriously wonder if they can or will in ME3.

Notwithstanding, I am of course open to other views, ill-concieved and erroneous though they may be.

[disclaimer - as a late comer to the series, this may have been
thoroughly hashed through  - if so, apologies - i
never fail to impress myself by rediscovering the obvious.] [/quote]

I'll take this a step further: I consider Noveria to be one of, if not their, very best mission in any Bioware game. It hit all the right notes in terms of environment, music, design, length, etc. Noveria really does stand out as Bioware's best work I think and wish every Bioware mission had that same level of quality. I can think of a few examples in ME1, DA:O, and ME2 where some missions were less than satisfactory, comparatively speaking.

Virmire because it had so much stuff:
1. Making a landing zone for Normandy.
2. Kill or not kill Wrex.
3. Kirrahe's speech.
4. Talk with Sovereign.
5. Sacrifice Kaidan or Ashley.
6. Talk with Saren.

Oh and LOTSB. The Broker *is* the real final boss of ME2, regardless of who agrees or is aware of it. Plus having no choice but to kick another Spectre's teeth in?? Gorgeous!

Virmire is too Epic.

Standoff with Wrex.
Kirrahe's 'Hold the Line' speech
VS getting to lead a team.
Infiltrating the compound.
Scaring the crap out of Rhana Thanoptis.
Conversation with SOVEREIGN.
Choosing who to sacrifice.
First face off with Saren.
All wrapped up in a devastating nuclear explosion.

Yep. Virmire.

Personally, I really enjoyed the Collector ship. It was just so atmospheric and creepy wandering through and seeing it all first hand. The victims, the pods, and wondering where the Collectors were, before the frantic final part of the mission.

I also really liked Virmire, LotSB, Overlord, Suicide Mission, and some of the loyalty quests (Samara and Thane's in particular).

Arrival had great highlights, meaning the battles. The object rho fight and the .last one where there is almost no sound and you can see the mass relay in the background are outstading.
.
The problem with it was, well, the rest. Especially the cinematic parts and the writing, in that departament, it was the opposite of LoTSB.
.
In particular, the part where you make the decision to blow up the relay is handled terribly. They should have given you the option to save the batarians and then had something going wrong, for exemple you would realize the communications are jammed or something.
