I tend to view the "references" and "easter eggs" like a crutch that gets used when the author can't come up with anything original/worthy of their own. Something that could actually wind up as "reference" or "easter egg" in *other* works, by that kind of hacks.

And for in-game relevance, what if BSN would mean something like "Batarian State Network"?
So, after hearing the random person, we then would get a Codex update under the Organizations heading, or something more relevant.

Also, just an idea:
Two pilots with cigars in their mouths. One is a black guy, the other a white woman. They argue over who gets to be called "starbuck". I have another idea that involves Tricia Helfer's character and a BSG mention, but it involves spoilers that I shouldn't talk about...
Would also be neat to hear "Goram" or "Frak".
Or: Some random person could say: "Well, what about you, Shepherd? How come you're flying about with us brigands? I mean, shouldn't you be off bringing religiosity to the Fuzzie-Wuzzies or some such?"

I'd like to see the return of a Tower of Hanoi puzzle. It's perhaps not so much of an easter egg, but it's a classical Bioware puzzle.
Oh, that Mira puzzle? It's a shame that so much omni-gel can be gathered before that part though, to circumvent it.
At least on the 360.
