Hi All,
I have Windows XP Pro OEM with SP3. I have Steam and at first I thought it was the steam issue until I realize it was if you installed Dragon Age using steam which I did not (bought collector's dvd).
When I try to load the toolset, nothing happens for about 10 seconds, then I see this pop up:

Nothing on the Wiki seems to apply to me - the first option asks me to load the SQL program from the start menu, but the application must have not installed properly because there is no start menu folder.
In my program files directory, I have two folders but neither one of them have any executables inside (Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft SQL Server Compact Edition).
I thought it may have been the known issue of "Installer hangs at the stage of "Execute:regsvr32.exe /s "C:\\Dragon Age\\tools\\Engine.dll", so I tried to do what the Wiki said - "go to task manager and manually close "regsvr32.exe", but it's not on my task manager.
When the SQL is installing, I see these errors: http://img145.images...5/sqlerrory.jpg
The final two become red X's as well right before that window dissapears and the following window appears:

I think that's all the info I can think of for now, if anyone has any input, it would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Sal

I'm experiencing the exact same problem with my toolset.
Any help here would be much appreciated.
Cheers,
Marc

Apparently, this is a very common issue from what I see on the forums. Basically, it sounds like the portion of SQL Server 2005 that actually creates/manages the DOA database we need is failing to install. Most people I've seen having this problem are running Windows XP with SP3.
They're apparently working on it, and I for one trust these blokes on that, at least. I guess it's just a matter of waiting for an updated installer.

No problem.
Looks like they updated the wiki page with more info, but it didn't seem very helpful so far. It did prove it was the SQL installer that was the problem and the MSXML6 install in particular.
From their troubleshooting page, it won't install if any other version of MSXML6 is installed already. They say all you have to do is uninstall the old version using Microsoft's Install Cleanup utility, and we should be able to get it installed for good.
Here's the link to the microsoft troubleshooting page. The link to the utility download is on there:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/968749
It worked for me, but I still get the error. But now I can at least try the wiki's suggestions with the SQL configuration stuff. We're one step closer!
Edit: Whoops. Looks like some bloke named Wl0fer found the fix and posted it in another topic at the top. Props to the mandingo!

Here's what worked for me:
Uninstall SQL server and the Toolset from PC.
Delete C:\\Program Files\\Microsoft SQL Server
In Regedit, delete the following:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\System\\CurrentControlSet\\Services\\MSSQLServer
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\Software\\Microsoft\\Microsoft SQL Server
Reboot
Install Toolset with the SQL.
