The Dwarf Noble origin story is probably my favorite my favorite background out of the six available -- but the effects it had on the main story were disappointing to say the least.  While I realize that I've become a non-person in Orzammar at that point and thus illegible for kinghood, I wish that my vengeance against Bhelen could have played out in a more... heart-felt manner, or at least some conversation options here and there to let me voice my regret for being exiled. Bloody hell, I should have been the one to send foolish Wardens off into the Deep Roads, not my idiot brother or that gray old weezer! Holding that sweet sweet crown, telling the Assembly that Branka/Caridin wanted me to decide who should be king, and being unable to put myself forth as a candidate felt rather infuriating.

You get to be a Paragon though, and that's way better than being king!

You should be able to uncover the truth about Balen and be King. Im glad I read this, I would have been pissed if I had played it for the (4th) time as a Noble and nothing much changed.

I must say I really enjoyed this origin, as it is one of the only ones that can have different nuances depending on your actions.  My first playthrough I did the "let's not jump to conclusions" route and was brutally betrayed by Bhelen.  Joining the Wardens was just a means to survive and get back and strangle the bastard.  The second time I went the "kill Trian before he kills me" and while the result is the same, Bhelen's berayal isn't as severe, it was more just being outmaneuevered.  Props to the wily bastard for that.  Joining the Wardens that time was more seeking a glorious death at the hands of the Darkspawn for redemption, kind of ala Sten.  Changed the whole flavor.  Nice!  But I can see how it would be hard to have the homecomming reflect such subtle differences.

I wonder if there's a difference if you let Ivo (who provides the damning testimony) have the helm at the proving.
