Scary old lady might be the one who told Sandal where to go. Posted Image Who knows, she might have maneuvered him to where he could be found in the Deep Roads. That's why he's appearing in unexpected places. I like Flemeth as I don't have the sense that she's evil evil. I was really sorry I had to kill her in DAO so I was delighted to find she's not dead at all.

I'd want to see more of her in DA III actually. Dang, even a DLC totally of her. Run-ins with the Warden (Aren't you dead? Posted Image I imagine that line if they meet again) and the Champion (no, not another delivery run. Please! Posted Image ).

Anyways, is Flemeth really Flemeth of the tales? Sometimes I wonder if she deliberately took that name, just to see the reactions of those who encountered her. Posted Image

There hasn't been any official confirmation regarding who Sandal is referring to, but the common speculation is that it's Asha'Bellanar (I believe he even comments on her laugh?). But, for all we know, he could be dreaming - having a quasi-Fade experience - and is seeing some other entity.

Small problem w/ that theory. Dwarves do not dream. Ever. It's the main reason that Dwarves cannot use magic. They have no connection to the Fade.
It would make since that the Old Lady is Flemeth.Perhaps there is some connection between Sandal and Flemeth.

It's already been shown that Sandal is quite different from your average dwarf. Who's to say he can't/doesn't dream?

Or it could be one of those astral projection-like spells the Architect used in DAA. He was able to project his image to the Warden, from a fair distance, when s/he was talking to the Mother before the boss fight.

If you let him live of course.

I mean, it is a possibilty, of course. Sandal is hardly your avererage drawf, but I've seen no evidence of him dreaming. Either way, it does make sense for the Old Lady to be Flemeth. Sandal is a powerhouse. Throughout the series, he can be found 3 times surrounded by dead darkspawn or demons. One of which being in the Deep Roads, where he froze an ogre using "Not Enchantment". And by now, like it or not, Sandal is a main character, and I can guarantee you that he will be present in the next game. I'm slowly coming to the conclusion that he and Flemeth have some type of a connection. What that connection is, I have no idea.

Well, there isn't a whole lot of hard evidence for anything with regards to Sandal, other than the aftermath of things, his uncanny enchanting abilities, and what Bodahn alludes to. And even given all of that, we have no real answers or true parallels. What he can do and who he truly is may completely defy everything we have seen thus far - he could represent powers that existed in Thedas prior to the time of Andraste. He's a smiling, sparkly-eyed bundle of mystery.

I just figure certain old hags who talk too much like to keep an eye on mysteries - especially ones that speak prophecies. Whether or not it has to do with competition in the hazy-oracle market, or just keeping tabs on potential powerhouses, has yet to be determined.

I really hope that Sandal's role in the next installment will be bigger. BW has stated that he will return in DA3.

Big fan of the guy! Think he's a great side kick that can give cause to hilarious situations as done in DA2 with the old lady and the prophecy he makes.

I reloaded twice just to hear the prophecy again :).

More Sandal please!!!

If dwarves don't dream, what's with Warden dwarves dreaming of darkspawn/Archdemon? Is that different because it's not specifically Fade-related?

Those are more like ... visions? Caused by the darkspawn blood.

i think it's possibly that he's a dreamer and doesn't know himself. I know Dwarfs can't be mages but he did freeze an ogre and said "not enchantment"

"The scary old lady" at the edge of sandals bed at night is flemeth three things we know about sanda, onel he has a gift that only dwarfs have after years of smithing or a mage who becomes tranquill can perform, 2 durring act one of dragon age 2 when he is found in the deep roads after getting lost he says two things how he killed all the darkspawn "boom" and in response to the orge "not enchantment" meaning he can perform magic, and three the eire prophecy that he speaks of rings perfectly with the new dragon age game comming out "the magic will return one day, and everyone will be as they once were, the man who rises will show the way." and one final thing in dragon age 2 when you see flemeth in dragon form she is the same color as the dragon that desends from the sky in the inquistion trailer. Sandel has been a small but pivital role no one expected to ahve a inpact with the dragon age story but more or less he is a prophet frist dwarf mage able to see through the veil and able to enchant and rune craft. yes he is lyrium addled and that is only becuase he was abandonded in the deep roads as a child for teh free of his family who probly found out he was a amge from a very early life possible an infant his abilitys have protected him but with out proper educaiton of any sort he seems less then intelligent and do to the deep roads raw lyrium deposits both saved him but cursed him. flemeth watches over sandal becuase of what he is and what he represents the future and the past "the magic will return everyone will be as they were"

Anyone think we might get Sandal as an actual companion in Inquisition? I think that would rock.

Sandal is too OP to be a companion.  They would have to reduce his skills to make it work and that would just suck.

That could be Morrigan though. She watched the player as a raven/crow in the Korkari Wilds.

lol, I thought the entire time that Sandal was referring to Meredith.

If he was always referring to Flemeth then I wish the writers had clarified on that.

She is at the palace after the battle as the dog she shapeshifted into if you said no to the ritual. I reckon that is Flemeth.

I actually thought that scene with Sandal was an easter egg for some horror movie.
