No. I don't need this end to feel my game epic. As an option, why not.

Wouldn't mind it being an option for those that want to go out all heroic death and such, but I'd certainly like to have an option for the dude to...I dunno... kick back and have a few beers, maybe take a god damned vacation after ME3.

I'd rather my Shep lived.

I second this.

It should be one of the outcomes for a "perfect ending": Galaxy saved, but Shepard gave his/her life.
However, it should be ONE option. Another one must be one with Shepard alive and Shepard alive but crippled. I think I'll pick one of the later options ...

NO!

Do you think I got ME1 & ME2, played about 6 or 7 different PC's, spent the time to set things up perfectly for ME3, just to see Shepard DIE in the end?!

NO GODDAM WAY!

And I don't care for exceptions in this case. I don't want another BioShock.

I don't want him to die. But my shep is fully prepared to sacrifice himself if he needs to.

^This.^

While death might be an option, I didn't spend all that time with my Shepards to simply see them die (again).

I like the idea of the heroes I play in video games retiring and having a nice life, after the game is over, even if the ending is ambiguous and left to the imagination of the player.

Which is why I loathe being told that my hero has disappeared into the ether, while my poor LI is left behind. BOO to that sort of ambiguity. Let me have my headcanon after the game is done. It's not like Revan, the Exile, the Hero of Neverwinter, the Warden, or Hawke are ever going to star in a game again. What do the writers care if I want to pretend my character settled down and led a boring, happy life after the adventure was over.

For dramaturgy reasons it would be better tbh, but I don't want him/her to die either. Also, Shepard died once already, so it would be repetitive.

I'd say both yes or no, as long as both are options i'm happy...but if death is the only option, then i have some molotov cocktails ready

EDIT: and maybe Shepard should retire and buy a bar...and then we'll get Mass Effect 4 which will be a bartender simulator

Yes because:
A) After all the crap that's happened in the previous games I can't imagine Shep just walking out and greeting everyone like life is still normal.
B) I loved Halo 3's ending despite Master Chief still surviving
C) Lots of butthurt losers will come on here to complain and make fake threats about not buying the game.

YUUUUUUUUUUP!

That's the major reason why I want it to happen. For the juicy, delicious Nerd Rage.

It will probably be a possibility but I hope it's not the only possibility because I'd rather most of my Shepards lived to love another day.

What about the characters who are going to die no matter what? My bet is that Anderson is doomed, sad as that is.

In a RPG, It doesn't matter if you believe the hero must dies because more realistic for " you. "

The point is " roleplay " . We aren't in real life, nor in a movie. We don't need to be forced to see the death of the Hero. If some want to imagine " their "story after the reaper war, that's their choice, and that's totally reasonable.

Since there was the option for Shepard to die in ME2, likely there will at least be an option for him/her to die in ME3. My guess.

I'd prefer it if my Shepard died. Not out of some desire to have an 'epic' or 'emotional' ending, but out of a desire for, uh, poetic justice if you will. Shepard was brought back from the dead to defeat the Reapers - I think its sort of fitting that he dies with them, his duty either failed or fulfilled.

And as much as I want to see what happens to the galaxy if I win, and as much as I want to talk to my squadmates afterwards and continue playing I think its more fitting that the story has an absolute, definitive end, like ME1 had. Otherwise I'll keep playing and playing until I stop from boredom. I'd rather finish each Shepard's story wanting a little more rather than stopping because I've grown bored of them.

You could always turn the game off after Shepard dies when you have the difficulty on Insanity. All those people who want the game to end in failure because "we can't beat the Reapers" may as well shut off the console the first time they get killed and pretend that's how their story ended. After all, we can't just reload an auto-save in real life.

If the death was done well, I wouldn't mind it, you like a death RDR the one which everyone knows about at this point. If it were as awesome as that then I'd be okay with it.

I'd certainly appreciate the option, though not all of mine would take it.

If it's mandatory due to, I know, Cerberus's magical revival process only lasting for a couple of years at most before Shepard's body falls to pieces, I won't be very pleased. If it's To Save The Galaxy, I still won't be very pleased. Forced sacrifice is meaningless.

It's not that easy. The difficult thing is that if you have a way to survive, not surviving will always considered a fail. While if you have not chance to avoid an epic death it will be considered a win, even if at a high cost. It is the same as with the suicide mission. You can never say oh well people died but it was a suicide mission and we knew it could happen. Because actually we know everyone can get out of it with little more than a scratch.

Plain as the title suggests. Is it necessary? Should he die? I say.....yep, but in a fantasticalacious way.

Should Shepard die? I don't think it's necessary. I wouldn't mind it as an option or an outcome due to obvious choices, but I don't think it should be the ONLY option for all players. Do I want Shepard to die? I know I have one Shepard that definitely deserves to die... horribly.:P

I've got countless amount of playthroughs so i will get this ending somehow. But the ideal and ''perfect'' ending is for me that Shep walks away alive and wondering what the heck she will do now

If it didn't happen already in a superlame plot-twist, maybe I'd support it. As is, I rather get a conclusion to his story/ride off in the sunset ending.

I want there to be an option for Shep to die, maybe even an option for a heroic death, but not a scripted death.
