The Citadel content perhaps was cut because the Citadel wasn't in your Cerberus dossier of mission recruits. It sounds like it would have been at odds with Shepard being co-opted by Cerberus. Instead, in ME2 we got to see more of the underbelly of the Citadel

I don't think I'd describe "I want a fish!",  and "That mean guard won't let me leave!" as the underbelly of the citadel.  I still feel all of the sidequests were extremely weak,  and TBH phoned in.  Even the Quarian - Volus arguement,  which had enourmous potential if the quarian actually was in any danger of being punished for theft,  was weak.  They just stood there,  did nothing,  and you randomly just picked up a credit chip and made it all right.

Some of the side quests were so contrived and outright silly I was actually almost insulted by them.

True, plenty of fools on here who take PR speak as gospel.

Isn't that the truth!  I just can't believe that people will not only grab onto words out of a marketing speech,  and not only use them constantly as if they had meaning,  but sit here and argue with you as if they meant anything.

I honestly wonder if these people watch a movie trailer and think the movie is going to "transport them to a land of magic!",  or watch a pepsi commercial and think giving a Pepsi to a geriatric will make them dance like a 16 year old.

I doubt it,  so it boggles my mind that these same people who recognize meaningless marketing jabber in a commercial or trailer then turn around,  and swear to high heaven that a piece of gaming PR is absolutely 100% infallibly the truth.

I can't even start to comprehend why when they find out they were wrong,  a week later turn around and do it again.

I mean seriously,  it's here in this thread.  "Wait for the final script!!!  Everything will be perfect!!!".  less than a year after...

DA2 - The real game won't be anything like the Beta,  wait for the Beta,  Everything will be perfect!!!

It's not just the marketspeak either, Gatt9. A lot of people seem to think that misleading headlines in gaming sites are equivalent to direct quotes from the developers.

Well clearly the citadel content seemed cut , or weaker than other hub areas. You don't need a direct quote to tell something was cut.I don't think developers need to come out and admit everything that was or wasn't done to a game.

But I mean this is just using common sense , at the end of the day it's all friendly speculation unless it turns out to be true.

sounds like a subplot of unknown length based on the citadel, which was a significant piece of the the plot was cut from ME2 for whatever reason and they are now doing it in mass effect 3. no idea what it is.

Ps: @someonwithmass, your signature frightens me

My hope is getting to explore the inner workings of the Citadel.  Maybe even finding its core.

Oh I see why you said it  because I am not a card carring member of the alliance butt kissing club here on BSN .

Being a card carrying member of the Cerberus butt kissing club isn't much better.

I'm hoping we get the Keeper subplot expanded upon, the e-mail we got in ME2 just told us information we already knew.

Laziness on many levels that is.

Even after Mac Walters admitted that the script has changed very little from the leaked "draft"?
Denial springs eternal.

Even if (major) changes aren't made, even if the main plot is the same, the leak was unmistakably incomplete and missing a ton of information from what I saw. Even if you reorganized that mess of words that's lacking both filler material and visual context. I'd say wait until the whole thing is in final form before judging it. Have faith, maybe? However illogical that may sound.
If I saw:
-Planet explodes
-On an ice planet. Giant camel robots attacking.

-Main character finds out princess of explodinated planet is sister
-Main characters trek through desert to find alien filled bar with pilot
-Let the wookie win
-Evil overlord government oppressing galactic rebellion
-Bounty hunter imprisons pilot-guy in metal on top of city floating on gas planet, reaffirmation of love for princess character
-Story universe set back in time where there are lazurs n' robots, but people still fight with swords made from glowsticks
-Main enemy is main character's father
-if you strike me down I will become more powerful than you can possibly imagine
-Main character is kissed passionately by princess character
-Giant space station of death is destroyed with the help of race of small sentient bears. Everyone goes home happy
-Main characters are stuck in a trash compactor and must escape. Unfortunately there's also a tentacled eyeball that lives there and like to eat people, so they must request aid from a robot to put his dongle into the main computer system to save them all

I think it's safe to say I'd call that awful too. In reality it turned out better, and at least it became awful due to death-by-retcon later. Maybe I'm overgeneralizing but that's how I see it. It COULD be bad, it could also be really good. Wait until you play it.

I was bummed that there wasn't much of the Citadel to explore in ME2. I'm glad to see that it'll be back this time around.

Banes is dead. Unless it's a mission to scoop up his body, I believe Kohoku (after you speak with Anderson) states that his men were investigating Banes' death when the whole Cerberus plot kicked in.

Indeed.

I'm going to post my long essay about ME2!cuts later that day. Must say, thinking of this reduces ME2 score a lot. I mean, half of the game is missing! Instead of a story arc similar to ME1 the player is "wasting" far too much time for recruiting and loyalize squadmates - that makes up to 50% of the entire game which is filled with rendundant characters.

Okay, will do this later ... it's gonna be long. And needs an own thread.

I really liked the idea of visiting one of the 'darker' areas of the Citadel, but I just wish there was more stuff to do there outside of the loyalty missions.

With the Citadel playing a prominent role in the first game, to only having a small one in the second, it felt like the story jumped too far ahead. I did assume it would be added on as DLC, but was surprised when it never came. But I was thinking that Bailey was going to play a bigger part in ME2 than he did, maybe it includes him in the ME3 side mission? With his back story on him being promoted to commander could be a good reason to include him.

i think they should put conrad and that green asari that was under the thorin control and that agent into ME3 for the PS3 people. i dont think it will be fare if they don't.

Now all of y'all shut up...

Just keep drinking that kool aid.

They probably changed the colors of Shepard's armor or gave Miranda an extra 2-3 lines to utter before dying, and then called it ZOMG WE CHANGED THE GAME! MIRANDA HAS MORE DEPTH NOW!
