So...an engine which turns one of the best western RPG series of the decade into a JRPG? No thanks.

I have seen the engine. And NO. Don`t want it anywhere near any Dragon Age games.

I agree with Rawgrim. I've seen the engine too by the way. And you're childish insults and foul language aren't exactly endearing people to your argument...

Not just realistic. I prefer photo realistic. For example like this:

It takes days to render above images but could BioWare make a renderer engine that's capable to process such realism in few seconds? I certainly hope so.

I think that's imposible, those are pictures or screenshots from game's movies, too hard and too expensive to do it in a game, and i'm not counting the huge weight of the game if they do this.

But yes, maybe a little more realistic would be great, but before this i prefer to get a good game first like DA:O, don't really care if they preserve this type of graphics or go back on DA:O style, i only want a great game with a huge history and a plenty things to do ;)

I didn't know this, so I'll just throw it out there. I wonder why Bioware, for DA2, didn't use their own Aurora engine which was used for Witcher 2?

Because instead they used the Lycium engine, an updated version of the Eclipse engine that they made for DA:O. I assume the engine change was because the Aurora engine couldn't be used for 360/PS3. Or maybe the Aurora engine didn't allow for true party based combat.

Edit: Also, yeah, Witcher 1 was Aurora. Witcher 2 used the RED engine designed by CDPR.

The Witcher 2 - RED Engine not Aurora.

Right, because the actual game done in that engine is so much better looking.

Wait, I don't get it. I recognize the DA2 characters, but I've never seen the environment or enemies before, and the graphics suddenly look a lot better. Is this a mod?

Which graphics is that that suddenly look a lot better -- the generic, blocky dark stone walls, the utterly flat single pattern floors, or the occasional background spotlights with the obligatory 1990's lens flares? Or is it the enemies with polygon count and textures low enough they could make the DA2 background NPCs suddenly feel good about themselves?

Well, it ain't exactly Witcher 2, but at least the modders made the environments look a lot more detailed and a lot less brown. Why did they give Merrill red hair all of a sudden, though?

Err are we watching the same thing? Because it's all brown on my screen aside from the floor, and then even the floor goes brown half through o.O

i mean, srsly:

but indeed, so much detail there. Why, there's even an undetermined purpose storage tank structure in the background Posted Image

Didn't watch that far in - the picture you posted looks as brown as the regular DA2, but with more detailed textures/better shaders/more environment detail/etc. But red hair Merrill is throwing me off, man.

Yeah, I assume the party is either Merrill (with red hair for some reason) and Hawke (can't tell if it's MaleHawke or FemHawke). Unless it's some sort of side-story with Merrill and Fenris or something.

I dunno,.. looks a good deal even more retarded than DA2. Posted Image  Can some modders really accomplish all that?

<Sigh>  Always the same, DA2 fans attacking the DA2 critic person. Again and again throughout these forums. DA2 critics attack the game, DA2 fans attack persons.
And then we even have to endure Woo and Epler cry rivers about how the mean DA2 critics are calling DA2 fans for "fanboys". (though this is a rare occasion and often results in a locked thread). Tiresome, parodic, distasteful.

That's like saying using BF3's engine -- something people have been advocating should be used -- would turn DA into a FPS.

Makes no sense. Engines can be worked with. The Witcher did this with Bioware's old engine IIRC.

from wikipedia:

The process of game development is often economized, in large part, by reusing/adapting the same game engine to create different games.

While i do NOT want this series to become JRPG, Using an engine from a JRPG with a WRPG wouldn't make into a JRPG, engines can be modified, and that is indeed the case for 80% of the games out (the UE3 has been modified countless times, for example)

You're comparing a game designed for a modern PC with consistent art design and a game designed for 7 year old technology with art design by squeenix. Think about it.
