Just an odd thought to toss out here.
No living mage practices the arcane warrior arts.
I noticed in the mage tower (reading notes and codex entries) that there was one senior mage that wanted to have the apprentices and mages trained in weapons for better self defense, and that that got squished pretty hard by the chantry.

So, thinking maybe the reason that there aren't any arcane warriors bouncing around is that when the templars went around putting mages in chantry sized boxes the AWs fought back a little too well and too hard, thus leading to future discouragement of such practices.

Anyway, that's my ramble for the day.

Well, AW were elves, which means it was probably before their war against humans(doubtful humans would let them continue their AW training), they probably were just all killed by the humans during the war.

Except for the one phylactery that has the soul of one. Then, you get to be one. So there ain't much the Chantry can do about that =)
