They instead need a Dragon Age story that can be able to go on like The Clone Wars cartoons. I am upset that Bioware doesn't want to use the fantastic US animators (especially in financial crisis) and chooses to send that money overseas.
Look at the fantastic work the Nickelodeon studios did with Avatar: The Last Airbender :<, so they used Korean studios but a lot of the money stayed home.
It is upsetting when you don't support your local industries.

I find this funny, since a lot of Americans seem to be upset about not being able to 'crack' Japan's market.

And seriously, Mike Laidlaw? What's he doing in that video? Didn't you guys try to stress how this franchise isn't 'Devil May Cry' or 'JRPG'. I mean, way to inspire confidence. On another note, have no idea why the obviously 'unrealistic' action-bits are so annoying to some... if it is gravity (or the lack of) or even physics that some are harping about, may I point out the existence of that High Dragon- there is just no way a creature of that size could fly if gravity was accounted for.
A setting where only magical creatures can naturally defy physics is not the same as one where both magical and non-magical creatures can defy physics.
Think of it this way: a mage can toss fireballs from their fingertips in a 'realistic' fantasy setting. A setting where everyone can toss out a fireballs at whim is far less 'realistic'.

That was my first thought. I thought that this *had* to be a parody of the dev diaries and the fan backlash to DA2, especially with the fact that all the footage we have seen looks like they cel-shaded in-game cutscenes.

If someone called me up and said "Hey, we want to make one of your intellectual properties into an animated movie", how stupid would I have to be to turn them down?

Yup; if i'm not mistaken it's similar in this regard to the Redemption mini-series and the earlier Warden's Fall thing -- people asked BioWare to be allowed to do something in the DA settings, and got a "go ahead". This one is just done with (presumably) considerably larger budget and on bigger scale.Plaintiff wrote...

Yes, Mike Laidlaw, the creative director for the Dragon Age franchise, appeared in a video to promote an ancillary product of that franchise simply to troll you.
We'll have to use something far more insidious next time to hide our true intentions. Maybe commission a large statue and then, at the unveiling, read aloud a saucy limerick.
More seriously, of course, there's no disconnect, try as you might to paint one. Dragon Age, as a game franchise, is not going to turn into a Devil May Cry'esque action game. Nor will it turn into a JRPG. Much as Mike Laidlaw has stated before. Sharing a universe and a franchise with an anime is not going to turn Dragon Age into something it's not, much like how Dark Knight was not an animated film simply because Batman Beyond exists.
But hey! Opinions.

I don't exactly get the connection either.
I mean, we have Dragon Age books but (unfortunately) that hasn't stopped BioWare from using cinematics for everything and moving away from written text.
On an unrelated note, this may just be me, but I do want a western RPG developer to take on JRPG gameplay elements and assume them under a WRPG design.
I would really enjoy a WRPG with the combat system of Final Fantasy Tactics, or The Last Remnant.
I want to see another game meld the two subgenres to be in the same class as an Anachronox. Not that I want BioWare to change current IPs to do that (worse idea evar), but I would like another game like Anachronox.

Right next your gonna say the sky is blue /sarcasm. I swear it feels BSN seems to hate anything Japanese I would have liked to see someone like Shinichirō Watanabe work on the DA anime. Who doesn't enjoy Samurai Champloo and Cowboy Bebop?

You gotta love how people always assume the worst. Amirite, J-Ep? lol
The devs learning new things about storytelling from other types of media to improve their own works is hardly changing the franchise into something else.

Well, saying stuff and doing stuff are entirely different matters. I mean, many things were said about DA2 pre-release that didn't end up true. And like the game or not, DA2 does carry with it similarities to JRPGs, whether intentional or not. I mean, thats sort of what half of that trailer is talking about- how DA would fit in as an anime because of how DA2 established certain things like the art style and so forth.

Difference between Batman and DA being that Batman has been around for decades while DA is in its infancy. So presumably anything DA related coming out now is basically setting the tone for how people view the entire Dragon Age IP going forward.

Well have you seen the size of their wings when spread out? They probably proportionally similar to a large bird, just the overall size is different.
Also it seems reasonable that Dragons might not weigh as much as people assume. Afterall, Dragonbone, one of the strongest materials for weapons and armor, is supposed to be very light yet strong.
Also the muscles used to flap those massive wings are likely very strong. Gravity doesn't count for much if you have the right amount of strength.
And they probably do a bit of gliding on wind currents.

So you're saying they aren't allowed to try anything different because of some twisted age descrimination?
Age doesn't change much. Just as many, if not more Baman fans would be p/o'd about trying something different than DA fans.
Ever since it's start, Dragon Age has been a franchise with several different forms. Games, novels, comics, a webseries, a flash game on social networking sites, and now an anime.
