Dragon Age Origins would have been nice if the combat was good like in DA2 and DA2 would have been perfect if it was grand and deep like origins but I don't watch South Park because it looks good I watch it because of the story. Same with origins the combat is ok, the spells and the intentions are great but the story and ROLE PLAYING is the reason I like origins and many others do too.
Now I really like the direction DA took with the improved combat but I don't like how the game was simplified also. A blend of Origins and DA2 would have been perfect.

The developers already said the combat would be toned down and not as over the top in DA:3.

Alot of people did not like the Hack n Slash combat in DA:2 and want the depth it had in Origins...only  faster.

DAO may have been a standard fantasy epic adventure but at least they poured a lot of creativity, effort, wit, irony, sarcasm, enjoyable companions, personal choices, different backgrounds and different racial and cultural viewpoints to make up for it.

DA2 had a more unique premise but it was very hurriedly and sloppily cobbled together. Most of its problems could have been fixed if they spent more time polishing and expanding it; allowed us to see more of the world than just one human area from one human viewpoint and allowed us to explore different lands, cultures, and conflicts from the eyes of elves, dwarves, and other ethnic groups.

Dragon Age Origins = Epic RPG

Dragon Age 2 = lesser version of Mass Effect 2

No contest really.

DA:O is a far better game than DA2. And I didn't even dislike DA2.

Same thing here. I thought DA2 was OK, played through it once. In DA:O I have I don't know how many playthroughs. Getting close to 400 hours played according to Steam. Speaks for itself I think.

origins is better in almost every way, but da2 had way better graphics and a quicker combat style.

"Quicker combat style" ... which doesn't mean better. In fact, it was worse in my opinion because Dragon Age Origins had a more reactive and realistic combat.
And when talking about the graphics... you're completely wrong.
DA: Origins is also the winner here (with mods):

DA: Origins is far better than Dragon Age 2 in every aspect, and here is the prove of that:

They don't have amazing graphics or anything, but they don't have bad graphics at all.

If you can view DA2 as an over exaggerated and comedic version of what happened in kirkwall and a build up to DA3 then the game is actually pretty good. It's just nowhere close to as epic as Origins was and had I known what I was in for I would not have paid full price for it. Hugely disappointed at release, but now I am fine with it and I lmao lots of times from my last run.

I have high hopes for DA3 ( the plot seems awesome ),
I just hope that I wont be disappointed....

Completely ignoring the fact that DA:O was a proper RPG in most ways and DA2 a streamlined atempt at an action-RPG with a lot of RP elements taken away, the character itself was a huge difference.

Warden took part in epic events and shaped the world.
Hawke was in a claustophobic little city and influenced basically nothing, no matter what choices he made.
Didn't help that the story, plot and the characters were all pretty much godawful.

Dragon age :Origins is better for me. Great story, nice characters ( Alistair whit jokes, Leliana whit this cute face, Ogrehn who is every time drunk etc.), map of Ferelden whit all zones and only players choices where to start, quests that gives you gear if you complete them, many side quests, 3 or 4 group that Warden receive this quests. I can continue whit good stuff in Da:O all day and all night.
But in Da 2 i cant say same word- have some good things, but things that i dont like are too much.

Agree
Overall I do enjoy DA2 BUT...
It lost the atmosphere, depth I felt in DAO.
The Combat in DAO was fun I felt more connected when I executed my attacks,In DA2 the combat is fun but it leans towards Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat or some Japanese button mashing combat game.
Combat was overly redone.

DA2 needed to be DAO 2 not mass effect/DAO/Mortal Combat,Champion of Kirkwall  mash up (yes Im an ME fan)

A few days ago while sitting in the train I realized I'd listened to Fenris's Theme (which has been on my ipod since I fist downloaded it a year ago) about 20x more than I'd played the game the music came from. This then led me to the following comparison:

Given the choice between never playing DA:O again, or never watching my favorite movie, listening to my favorite song, or eating my favorite food again, I'd pick DA:O.

Given the choice between never playing DA2 again or never listening to Fenris's Theme again, I'd pick Fenris's Theme. And it wouldn't even be a difficult decision.

That's pretty damn sad, isn't it?

Dragon Age: Origins easily. I could give a thousand reasons as to why I loved Origins so much, but that'd be a very long wall of text. Let's just say that the tactical and challenging (And at times seriously difficult) combat was fantastic, and it truly felt rewarding when you manage to get past a really tough battle; there were many awe-inspiring moments such as when I first encountered the Grand Oak or when a dwarf woman's voice narrates the birth of a broodmother; your companions you truly came to love as they travelled with you and bantered with each other (Oh Sten and Morrigan LOL <3), the brief talk with each of them before facing the arch demon was incredibly sad for me :c. Although at times it got kind of stale when you visited camp and everyone was just standing around, but the background music while just talking and coming to understand each one of your companions were simply beautiful moments that served as a nice pace between areas. All in all, I loved Dragon Age: Origins, I loved every bit of it and it is a gaming experience I would never regret having.
Dragon Age 2, on the other hand, abandoned a lot of this, leaving for boring repetative combat with literally THE SAME enemies; There were the usual low-level enemies that simply served to fill up the screen as they parachute from the sky wave after wave, shooting arrows or flailing swords, but then there wer the following 4 other "elite" enemy times that you will fight 1000 times each by the time you get to the third act: The tank, often in the form of a templar lieutenant or otherwise that would buff its allies, hit "heavily" (atleast in comparison to the other henchmen), and throw a rock or a flask or whatever the hell that is at you; the rogue that loves to do backflips, disappear, backstab, swing daggers at you for 15 seconds dealing meagre damage, backflip, disappear, backstab, etc., all in the while having questionably high amounts of health for a rogue; everyone's favourite mage that that completes the SAME ROUTINE EVERY TIME you face him: Cast a damage over area spell that makes you slow as ****** and explodes, place an impenetrable shield on self, teleport somewhere, Rinse and Repeat (Shooting the occasional stave blast albeit); and finally the stupidly over-powered blood mages (in terms of damage) that had area effect spells either around them or at a selected area that could kill your tank in seconds! If your magse get caught in one of these and you don't realise the instant the blood mage casts it, well, your mage is practically dead. The only break you'll get from the same enemies is when you face special boss or area-specific enemies (Ancient Rock Golem actually had me stumped for a while, and was actually pretty difficult. If only companions knew how to stay still when you told them. NOPE they're gonna run into lasers). Environments were overall were interesting to begin with in certain areas, but once you (quickly) realise that areas a recycled, this will immediately become an annoyance when you go through the same warehouse a thousand times that's somehow connected to at least 10 different plots. Dragon Age 2 did include SOME good mechanics that were improved from Origins, yes, but the bland combat saw to it that these are easily overlooked. The single saving grace for the game though (In my opinion at least), are the companions. Your companions have SUCH distinct personalities that are so interesting and engaging that some of them you will truly come to love. Fenris, Isabela and Varric in particular I really came to like, and there were moments where I actually felt TRUE emotion stirring inside of me, a moment in particular being when Fenris when [Spoiler Alert] turned out to have been betrayed by his new-found sister to his ever-pursuing previous Master. "I would have given you everything" I FEEL YOU FENRIS, I ****ING FEEL YOU.

tl;dr, I lied about not making this a huge wall of text, I love Dragon Age Origins, and Dragon Age 2 made a lot of mistakes but still managed to tell an engaging story that was held together by the intriguing personalities of your companions.

DA:O > DA2

:D
