Looking at the Upgrade Guide on the Wiki, it looks to me like you only need to harvest a fraction of the minerals available, but need to scrimp and save every credit you can. I'm a little worried that I might buy too many probes to get minerals I may not use. I'm sitting at 180k - 200k in all of them right now, except eezo at 44k (more than I will need, I know, so I've stopped probing it).

I just finished Horizon, so I'm not sure how far I am into the game.

I want to scan all the planets, and keep finding it difficult to resist grabbing the big resource spikes. Since it shows up as explored just by visiting, I don't want to run out of minerals and not know where to find them because I left them behind. This was especially true when I started the game, because I remember spending most of ME1 with 9,999,999 credits and so I wasn't too concerned about cash.

So my question is, how hard is it to get enough money for all the upgrades?

If you don't probe, that's when you find yourself not being able to upgrade when you want to. Remember that when, or if you run out of fuel you burn resources. When you run below 100k start probing. You can only purchase fuel, probes, and some upgrades with money.

If you've imported from ME1, money isn't a problem at all. If not, it can be unless you scrimp.
