But to be on-topic; I don't think it's a feature that's really needed, and if you can only use it with a few guns, it's a waste of time to implement I feel.

This sums up my feelings too. 

And really people, we're talking about a computer game where a dead person who may or may not have telekenetic powers zooms around in a FTL spacecraft and can shag incredibly human like aliens with compatible genitals in between fighting giant robot cuttlefish that want to turn everyone into smoothies. Basing an argument about anything not being realistic is just not seeing the wood for the trees.

Why? If you're using a pistol, you will hit your target a lot better with two hands then with one. If you shoot one handed, it's because of terrain, or because you are using your off hand to hold a flashlight, throw a grenade, punch Conrad, or reload.

If you want to shoot two guns at once you'll be slightly less effective than you would be by throwing them at your target.

Fighting with two hand-weapons? Absolutely. Two ranged weapons? Unless your name is Jet Li, then no.

Goldeneye did that. You could dual wield any weapon from pistols to rocket launchers. But my favourite was assault rifle and grenade launcher. In Perfect Dark those were combined into one awesome weapon (assault as primary function and grenade launcher as secondary funtion).

That's why despite having the superior gun in the Kalishnakov, the communist customer nations have never been able to outshoot Americans with the inferior gun.

A single pistol will always be a more effective use of ammo than a dual weild. That said, there are places where the dual weild isn't terri-bad. CQB is a good example, don't need to aim nearly as much when sweeping a close area.
