This is it. This is the end. For Shepard. For Garrus. For Miranda. For Jack. For Thane. For Tali. For Liara. For Ashley. For Wrex. This is it. We've all been waiting for this moment. However, ever since the leaks there as been an increasing flame war. We all have our favorite characters. Our favorite moments. All we want is to see how our favorite characters are represented in Mass Effect 3. We want to see if they live or die. If they have a good ending. We want to finish the relationships we've started.

I see where all the hate comes from. Many squadmates from Mass Effect 2 have minimal roles, or roles that we didn't expect. We know these things because of an unfinished, unedited, poorly written script. Other characters like Garrus, Ashley/Kaiden, Liara, and even Tali are squadmates for the final battle. While others like Thane, Miranda, Grunt, and Jacob are not. I get the reason for the flaming. Many people didn't even like Jacob or use him. I did. I LIKED Jacob's normal guy attitude. I liked Miranda and tried to help her with her father.

I can't even play Renegade. Wanna know why? Because I can't bring myself to act like a jerk towards these characters. They are all great in they're own way. I too am sad that the ME2 squadmates have a lesser role. However, giving all of those fantastic characters important roles would be impossible for Bioware. Mass Effect 3 would probably never be released. But I'm happy for all of those fans of Garrus, Liara, Tali, Ashley, and Kaiden. I'm happy that those characters are our squadmates. I like them just as much as the ME2 ones.

My favorite character is Tali. I'm just going to say it. I wasn't going to because I didn't want to get my *** kicked by forum members. But I also love Miranda, Ashley, Liara, Garrus, Legion. EVERYONE. I want to see all of them in Mass Effect 3. And guess what? Bioware was nice enought to put ALL of them in Mass Effect 3. So all I'm asking is that we unite. Stop the flaming and unite as a fanbase. We all have our favorites. But don't we all love Mass Effect, the game itself? Don't our favorite characters make the game just THAT much better? So please, stop with the flaming. We all love Mass Effect. Unless you canceled your preorder.

What were you expecting Z? This is BSN, hating is kind of the way of things. Not saying this is a good or bad thing. Just is. I think you have a point but at the same time, you are dealing its a younger generation who are in the developmental stage of wanting to be liked and having a sense of belonging. Thus by hating on something they are part of a community and belong.

I know, I'm horrible at speeches. I guess this was more of me just giving my opinion.

Well, Zorziban, I guess it's time for the YOU MUST BE NEW HERE speech. People will flame, and people will hate. It's the nature of people. And it's the nature of the internet. It's really no big deal.

As noble as it is to request the ending to flaming wars, they won't end. For as long as human nature remains the same, people will have ideological differences, which will be fought verbally - often in a less than civil manner. A cure for flame wars does not exist. A treatment? Well, you can always try to be part of the Forum Defense Force, so to speak. Sorry Zorz, but this thread can't solve the many problems with the forums in its current state.

Time flows like a river, and history repeats...

A noble objective... I like your attitude and agree...
To tell the truth I share most of your concerns and thoughts, I quite frankly can't see a point in all this "hatedom"...
Unfortunately this is quite probably very unlikely to change... :(

Don't feel too down, keep this thoughts and attitude with you and all will be fine in the end...

I just... I don't know. I just think this whole thing is childish. I wish we could be a united fanbase, but with trolls and such, I guess not.

Looking at the topic title I fear you've given the trolls a reason to troll this topic to hell.

No, seriously. It's the internet. What do you expect? :s

Yes, you are right. I knew what I was getting into when I made this thread. I guess I just expected people to react differently.

Kind of easy for the op to say when their favorite character is a permanent squad member, when ME2 fans got shafted. But whatever.

I apologize for my joke. It's just, I have seen the same sentiments expressed many times and perhaps I am jaded. Wait. No, I am jaded. XD

I think you brought up an interesting topic of discussion. I think looking at all sides to the discussion is a good place to start. Logical questions start to arise. Like why is hating so easy and so popular? Are we dealing with a generation of cynics? And if so, what does that say about society?

I agree with you, OP. but apparently for some people, it is impossible to enjoy their favorite character without resorting to bashing others. its like they feel that that by bashing other characters they are making their character sound better or something? I don't understand it, but I do sometimes have enough and attempt to call those people out on it and then... end up escalating the flame war, becasue for a lot of people admitting that they might be wrong in any way is impossible.

my fear.. is that once ME3 is relased.. the fame wars will reach new, epic proportions.
