Nah, the character's always been poorly done, but the whole ME2 cast got sidelined. It made that whole game feel like Bioware gave every player a 30 hour long middle finger.

Poorly done to you. Clearly thats not the case for a lot of people. I think Jack has no redeedming qualities. Know what the difference is? I dont **** about it.

Hey none of that here! Feel the looooove man. Seriously, we need to talk about the flaming and how it is affecting the fanbase. Also how people feel about it.

Ok, ok. Come here. *hugs the whole forum*

But in all seriousness, I'm not upset about any character returning, I'm really upset by the entire ME2 game and every piece of DLC because it all feels like it was for nothing when all of them will pop their heads in for an hour or so come next spring. However the op makes a valid point, we should all calm down till March and play the game...

Then the real B!*ching can begin!!!!

You shouldn't have to change who you are just to be here and enjoy the forum. Z brings up a valid point. I think it needs to be discussed. :)

"Siha, I've made a life of killing those who deserve to die. We must struggle to not become what we hate."

I find your use of that particular quote ironic considering your earlier post.

Hence the smiley.

Also, why is the hating so popular? Do you think its cool to hate on another person because they like a certain character? Again, I see why certain characters are not liked. But why do some of you guys feel the need to hate on actual PEOPLE because of they're preferred character?

Yeah? Well I was a conformist before conformism was mainstream. *hipster glasses*

Thats your developmental stage which is dependent upon your age. Why not grow out of that stage and begin to look at being independent? What is so hard about being independent in thoughts or behaviors?

What was your point Fiery? A humorous bent on the topic at hand? An attempt to add levity? Or a comment on the nature of the topic? Hmm? ^_^

Because people are obnoxious and purposefully bait each other.

Might I assume you're new to forums in general, because this is hardly unique to BSN.

...Or the Internet, really.

Best hope is to try and keep the character support threads free of flaming really. Tensions are running high and people are understandably unhappy with some of Bioware's choices and that's going to come up in normal discussions where others will disagree with them.

Also, why is the hating so popular?

Specifically on the internet, hating is popular - when you're dealing with 146 by 146 avatars spouting text, it is far easier to insult someone. In real life, it will still happen - but not to such an overwhelming degree.

Do you think its cool to hate on another person because they like a certain character?

No.

But why do some of you guys feel the need to hate on actual PEOPLE because of they're preferred character?

Some of that can be viewed as hate, and some of it is genuine opinion. It can be difficult sometimes to discern the two. It is better to say no to something with full conviction, than to simply submit and say yes to something you do not agree to. How you say no is another discussion altogether.

Frankly, this topic has less to do with Mass Effect 3 and more to do with forums in general. It really needs to be moved to Off-Topic at least.

How the fan base feels about it? No one curr.

Seriously. BSN is hardly representative of ME fans at large.

This is very true. BSN is made up of the people who are fans enough to devote hours of their time to partake in discussion here. Much more..."hardcore" for lack of a better word, fans. So they're going to feel more strongly about the game and characters, and thus hate harder.

Not only that, but we devote countless hours into REPLAYING the game multiple times. We know the game inside and out. Why do we do it? We obviously aren't doing it because we HATE the characters, or worlds, or the story.

The flame wars aren't that bad.

You haven't seen flamewars until you've been on a HP forum. (or an anime one). Good lord those make the flamewars here like a joke.

HP and anime forums have the most stupid flamewars, in my view.

Of course not, it's because we're protective of OUR character, and when someone else says something slightly demeaning about OUR character, we lash out.

Actually, it has to do with the characters of the Mass Effect universe and why people are in a flame war about they're existence in ME3.

I personally think people are too emotionally invested into these characters. I love Mass Effect; haven't read the spoilers, but if my squad mates from ME2 only are available for one mission...who cares? I didn't forge an emotional bond with any of the characters...

Quit being naive, the flame wars will never end when people are so immature and petty to rage about not having a character in the spotlight...
