I think they've pretty well established that the Volus's strengths are commerce related. They simply aren't fighters.

Because the only volus squadmate which is the biotic god would be very over powered and therefore make the game too easy

I think the Volus should be beautiful beings of partial energy who chose comical suits to hide from the Reapers (and he really WAS a Biotic God) - and Quarians should be hideous clam meat faced creatures.

i'm not sure how all the chest high cover will work with a volus, you can put two of them on top of eachother and they still won't see over it

Theyre not very good soldiers. Doesnt mean tough that they dont have them, they are just better at politics and economics.

I think a Volus party member would be awesome. You guys gotta remember that we're talking about an entire SPECIES here. There's gotta be some Volus who exceeds expectations for his kind enough to qualify as a party member. Use some imagination!

How about a volus who is a little bigger and faster than most, and perhaps has actually useful biotics? Or even better, a volus who compensates for physical shortcomings by piloting a small mech-suit. Lots of possibilities really.
