Hey,

I have recently had problems connecting to the Cerberus Network. i get this error message "Communication with the Mass Effect 2 server was interrupted or has timed out. Please try again later."

This is preventing me from purchasing some of the DLC.

This seems to have started after i registered for the SWToR test and changed my password. Could this be related? Can someone help me with this?

A lot of gamers have had issue with server connection with older games; general speculation is that the servers used to service these games are limited as resources are focused on the newer games (for obvious reasons). I would not expect the connections for these older games to improve.

You can still purchase dlcs directly from the XBox Live marketplace thus avoiding the EA server issue.

I was wondering about this myself. Sadly, due to my XBL account being compromised, I had to change profiles and my attempts to reset my Cerberus account proved unsuccessful due to the connection issue. Sadly, this *also* happened with Dragon Age Origins. But, yeah, sadly, word of mouth is that over half of the servers used by EA have been reallocated for use by The Old Republic as they expect High Numbers for the launch week. If the Beta (and the additional servers they had to bring online for it) are any indication, it's not likely these servers will ever be used for Origins or ME2 again. My guess is they have exactly one server for use for each, hence the connection trouble.

Don't know if you're just commenting on Pete's issue, glenboy, though I detect you're having some sort of trouble yourself.

What do you mean by "reset my Cerberus account"? You do realise that the Cerberus Network activation code is a one-time use code, right? Even if you redeemed it you can't 'redeem' it again. Thing is, normally the dlcs would then be associated with your Gamertag.

Now, the crux of your issue seems to be your mentioning that your XBox Live account, and hence your Gamertag, had been compromised. Do you still have that Gamertag? Other Gamertags on the same console should be able to access the dlcs as normal, though they do not own the content. Strictly speaking you should contact EA support to have the dlcs reassigned to a different Gamertag (if indeed that's what you meant by "change profiles").

@glenboy I'm honestly not surprised at that. As I started to suddenly have connecting issues during September when I have changed nothing on my end. So I have thought something MUST have changed on EA's end. I have tested it for a good month or two and with games that are still have multiplayer (Crysis 2 for example) I can connect no problem, always and never had any problem. With any single player I no longer can't, or have issues trying.

As I haven't talked about this for a month, MW3 and Skyrim came out so I no longer really care. I know that I changed nothing and well, it is out of my hands. So I'm sort of glad glen you brought it up because it makes me feel better to have more or less a confirmation on what I have been suspecting for awhile.

Nothing new Memphis, it's what I suspected ever since the connection issues arose. It is essentially folly to expect a 'solution' as it is unlikely to happen.

Coincidentally I just redeemed my Cerberus network promo code today and I had bought the game at launch over a year ago. I just never got around to redeeming my code until now as I was getting antcy about getting some more ME2 in in anticipation of ME3 coming out in March. Basically, so far I haven't played any of the DLC yet and I was going to download my free Cerberus Network and buy the other DLC.

So, I registered my promo code online on this here website just like the instructions on my game's insert said to do and now I am trying to gain access to the Cerberus Network in game... like I'm supposed to... so I can download the junk and I can't. I keep getting the connection interrupted or timed out message. So, is there any solution for this... at all?

Edit:

As a side note, if I just waste the extra cash (which I'd prefer not to do unless I have to) and buy the cerberus network DLC as well as all of the other game content DLC from the xbox marketplace; can I still use them in game even if I never am able to connect to the Cerberus network?

Mass: you'll have to buy your own Cerberus Network code; they do cost money one way or another. (Unless someone happens to have a spare lying around and is feeling generous at this time of year.)

lawrence: I would have recommended you to have redeemed via the game itself rather than the website; I am under the impression that it would be simpler. Firstly, check your registered game promotions tab to see if the dlc associated with the Cerberus Network are assigned to your EA account (Zaeed, arc projector, etc).

The next thing would be to try and download them (obviously). When you redeem a code it usually lets you download there and then. Note that even though the code allows you access, XBox Live will not recognize that and the item remains unpurchased (technically that it is correct if you think about it).

Thirdly, you can use dlc without having to be logged onto the EA servers. Often it would seem that many have trouble connecting to the Cerberus Network, but it isn't needed to actually use the dlc. So you can feel relieved about that.

The most important thing is the first step: verifying whether you have it or not. Check in your download history on your 360 to see if the Cerberus Network appears there; if it does the option to redownload it should be available. If it doesn't....it would seem that you will require the EA servers to work for you in this instance. I would place little hope in that myself. Your option at this point would be to contact EA support and explain how you redeemed the code and are unable to actually download it. I think they are capable of generating a new code for you to download that which you were unable to, after verifying ownership.

Good luck.

Thanks for that response Obak. On my EA account here (which I just made yesterday) it says that I have registered the Cerberus network stuff to this account. My only problem seems to be connecting to the Cerberus network to actually gain access to that download. I tried the clock trick I saw mentioned else where on this site and that didn't change anything. Xbox live works just fine for me, I just can't access the cerberus network to download the material. I even tried logging into the cerberus network last night around midnight to see if the "load" might be lighter then to try and get into the network but that didn't work either.

Also, yeah, I redeemed my code before I looked around these forums. I didn't realize that it would be easier to do it just in game to begin with. If that was such a better solution then why did they tell me ON THE INSERT they gave me to activate it at this website :(

As an aside, after doing some research I see that the Cerberus network doesn't even add any real game story content but just the extra character? Is that true?

Essentially, about the Cerberus Network and story, that is true. You get Zaeed in the game, who has his loyalty mission. You could actually play through without him and not miss anything from the main story.

You do get the Hammerhead side missions, and there is a loose connection to the main story; but I don't think it really adds that much to it. In both you do have upgrades and stuff available which aids the game.

Then of course there is the additional equipment available.

As for the insert...I suspect it is more PC-centric, and means they didn't have to print out different versions of instructions.

A quick check with the sticky near the top of this board suggests that it is possible to redeem in-game. Bit late now for that of course, but if you get any more games with such redemption methods go for the in-game option. That way your Gamertag will also have registered that you have downloaded it.

Getting connection to the servers is hit-and-miss, so good luck on that. There are quite a few threads concerning connection problems with fellow gamers, I would suggest checking the 360 Dragon Age tech board as well, having various methods to try and get connection. Can't remember the different methods they use though.

I have a similair problem, since I have moved from my parents to a student house I havn't been able to connect to any EA server (not cerberus network, not for dragon Age II and not for the Kingdom of amalur demo). I did some research on the internet and I thought my router was blocking me, but even in DMZ mode i can't acces any of their servers.

Not surprising if conjecture around here is true; that is to say, EA prioritize newer and multiplayer games over older and single player games which really shouldn't require an internet connection to work. The server issue is unlikely to ever be 'fixed', that would imply there was something broken about it which in a strict sense just isn't the case.

I agree with you, but that wouldn't explain why the Kingdom of Amalur demo isn't working either. Since it was released 3 weeks ago

Like I suggested it was merely conjecture as few of us gamers here have that sort of concrete information.

It would also depend for what purpose you need access to the servers for as well. I'm not familiar with Kingdom of Amalur (no idea what that is) but I'm not sure a demo would be of high priority unless it was some sort of multiplayer beta.

That also discounts the more normal explanation of a server fault or general internet access issue at the user's end (which might be worth checking out at times).

I know it is on my end. When I use tethering on my Iphone I am able to connect to the EA servers. So I was hoping to get some help here

Hm...then that isn't really a game issue as such, Verwijs.

My hardware knowledge on stuff like that is non-existent so I would suggest you try the more general boards to see if they can provide the assistance you need. Someone, somewhere tends to know something; and troubleshooters around the 360 boards, at least for the older games, are few and far between of late.
