Well ok but I always thought the first run is most interesting. Because you still have surprises. If you already know stuff then it's like your second playthrough. That's also why I never use walkthroughs until I played the game at least once. Walthroughs are only for discovery, stuff hidden somewhere and I am too lazy to look for it. Or impatient.

Oh, surprises will exist: I don't read the nitty-gritty spoilers (dialogue) usually, and I don't know how all the choices factor in. But Mass Effect has always been a very predictable franchise in general: the genre savy know their way around, and what will come next.

The surprise has nearly always come in the execution.

Ultimately I saved the Rachni because my Shepard decided to trust her and that she could be a valuable ally against the Reapers (despite the risks of what would happen if the Reapers rebrainwashed the Queen). With the CB he decided to destroy it despite the gains that would happen. (same with heretic geth). Didn't want to risk it.

...I guess he was more of an optimist in ME1.

Why do people always bring this up? Since when is that ever the implied danger? The danger is just that she's lying to you. Frankly if she wound up turning on you because the Reapers indoctrinated her I'd be pissed at Bioware for yet more contrived writing despite this instance working against Paragon Shepard.

That is debatable.

Yeah, debatable probably, debate worthy, rather not as it looks.

It certainly has its positive and negative sides.

Before I visited this forum, thought I was forced to let Garrus take the shot to gain his loyalty, since that seemd to be the theme. Being proved otherwise opened up a whole new set of dialogues and opportunities for me.

The negaive part is that it took me about half a year to realize that I could spare Sidonis.

It took that long? You didn't play a paragon that paragonized Garrus in ME1?

Though wow that sucks.

This, you don't that the Rachni were possibly indoctrinated until ME2.

Because the oily shadows (granted in ME2) suggests it happened before.

I didn't see much danger in her lying to Shep. If she wanted to she could've attempted to attack him with puppet Asari corpse. She didn't. So fine whatever. He let her go because she was a prisoner and had done nothing to deserve it.

And frankly I wouldn't be surprised. People keep saying paragon Shep needs to have something blow up in his face.

that's rather optimistic don't you think? :D

An optimistic idealist thinks good things come to good people by virtue of being good.

A cynical idealist thinks that good things come to good people by virtue of flawed people building better worlds.

You could always have just loaded a previous save and seen what happened for yourself, and thus found out six months earlier. No need for reading walkthroughs or forums at all.

Indeed.

Mind you, I had just played a couple of other missions where you had do it the squadmate's way or no loyalty for you, so that mentality got stuck for a while.

No, Bioware canonized that Shep destroyed it.

"Oily shadows" and "sour yellow note" means **** all coming from a race that communicates in a way entirely alien to us.

Oily shadows could be krogan ships and the sour yellow note their slaughter of the rachni.

Why would she do that? She's dependent upon you letting her out. Attacking you doesn't facilitate that.

No. It didn't.

All post-ME2 material by bioware has been ambiguous about the state of the base, the same as with Shepard's gender.

Again with the Magic Bullet? I clearly remember BW stating in a press conference in September that one thing was certain... "There is no Magic Bullet" ..... to me that means the CB has S*** and Squat to offer.

Also unless you did Virmire before Noveria you don't know much about Indoctrination.

If you do Feros before Noveria you learn a bit about it from Shiala. And my order tends to be Feros - Noveria - Virmire - Liara.

Granted it's not enough to suggest the queen is indoctrinated (seeing as she and Saren are at odds). Plus it would be difficult to have Sovereign go to Noveria and stay near enough to the queen for her to be indoctrinated the sight of the ship alone would send several red flags.

It would be funny if they did... and that Shep returned to pee on the remains,,, and in the explosion they found a clue to how to destroy the Reapers that would have been otherwise impossible to find.

Thats my dream. Image IPB

Indeed and the first time I played ME1 Noveria was the first world I did (oh, all that imagined depth...)

Regardless, if the rachni were under Reaper control then Sovereign shouldn't have needed the queen to get the location of the Mu relay. He would already have it. I'm not saying Bioware didn't try to hint at this, but it is hardly concrete.

My fear at the time was this:

The queen may escape the planet but leave some of her offspring behind to wipe out Port Hanshan and surrounding areas. (remember the teaser vid with Noveria being nuked?)

I then feared that she'd hide in the galaxy for decades rebiuilding her species and then start a new war. This is what the turian Council refers to when he says "Our children's children may pay for it".
