Aiming to surpass GoW rather than simply making a good game with be the best way to insure you will never surpass GoW

Depends on which Sonic the Hedgehogs you're talking about. Anything before '95 is obviously a fail and everything afterwards are masterpieces. Games like Sonic Unleashed are obviously classics.

I can´t even think of another great shooter/rpg. Not to mention that it was clear that it was a triology and we could import savegames (longtime commitment for many fans).

All those things pretty much execlude the "i log in and wanna shot something dead people".(not that there is something wrong with this) I hardly doubt that a lot of GoW/BF/COD/CS/UT etc. players are ME players. I think thats a minority.


Nice opinion, but it's just an opinion boss.

Right, page 5 and all I am seeing is a bunch of super critical Simon Cowells too busy comparing their dicks to baseball bats rather than playing the game and enjoying it. Ultimately that is the end all product is whether or not you enjoy the game.

Actually, that's the only reason why I never tried any of the Gears of War games. I don't do too well with a ton of gore in games, or horror stuff in general... That's why the first thing I do in Dragon Age is turn off persistent gore, it's why I never played Ninja Gaiden 2 (But I did play Ninja Gaiden 2 Sigma due to toned down blood), and why I don't play games like Gears of War. It's actually the reason that while I did play Mass Effect 2 three times so far, I've only played the Overlord expansion once and I'm never planning to do it again ever and regret buying it: Too many bloody decapitated bodies everywhere, too creepy atmospheres with way too loud AI screams.

Yes it was "effective" in that it put me on the edge of my seat, but I just wanted it over with and I wasn't enjoying myself any (Beside the amazing combat music).

Better gun play is the only comparison point. I see it surpassing that game in every other category.

Honestly, the line I bolded works more for ME2 that it does Gears of War. ME2's gameplay is far inferior to GoW, and since gameplay is probably the single most important thing in a game, ME3 should strive to be more ike GoW in that regard.

And really besides the ending of GoW3, the story is quite good, the character are pretty interesting and aren't as archetypal as ME characters, and even the dialogue, while not on par with Mass Effect, is pretty damn entertaining. The sound and graphics are amazing, the multiplayer is fantastic, and Horde Mode and Beast Mode provide hours of replayability. GoW is not crappy, or mediocre. All of the games in the trilogy have over a 90% review rating on Metacritic. That's impressive.

Nah, Shadow The Hedgehog already is the best game ever made. No game is ever going to top that, not even a game starring Silver.
