I game went from crashing every so often after a few battles to the point where I can't finish the battle against the Sloth Demon in the Fade after Circle of Magi without it crashing (I get as far as the Hunger demon form, if that..)
 Notable information:
  • Ultimate edition
  • Digital download from Amazon
  • Latest 1.05 Patch
  • AMD Phenom™ II X3 710 Processor 2.6 Ghz
  • 7 GB RAM
  • GTS 450 1GB, driver 285.62
  • Speakers (High Definition Audio Device) / driver 6.1.7601.17514
  • 64 bit Windows 7 Professional, SP1
  • Direct X 11
No mods. I've installed Nvidia system monitor to confirm it's not an issue of GPU overheating.

Not sure what to do..

I bought the digital download version from Amazon. The only message I get is from Windows 7 saying "Dragon Age Origins has stopped working" with an option to search for solutions or close the program, after it crashes to the desktop.

It started crashing every 5 minutes or so as I worked my way up through the Mage's tower (I ignored it and just obsessively saved..). It was fine throughout most of the Fade (except for the more involved battles) but now with the Sloth Demon I've tried at least 10x in a row, can't get past his third form without it crashing.

Screenshot of the crash error that pops up: http://i.imgur.com/ZY1QT.png

In battle with the Sloth Demon, my screen will fade to black, crash to desktop, and show that error.

http://social.biowar...8/index/7280573 "read first".  Which it looks like you've read.  Have you tried anything in http://social.biowar...8/index/6265850 which has many helpful ideas for a wide variety of problems.

You may have a multi-core issue.  On many systems, DAO does not like being run on more than two cores.

I just tested the multi-core issue. Switched affinity to CPU0 and CPU1. I made it further through the fight this time and just when I got my hopes up.. CRASH. Goddamit. I'll read through those links some more..
