yup, southpark is officially ending.

I'm seeing proof of the oposite.
You might not like the show but this is like saying the Simpsons is ending.

I'm too old for SP. The jokes are for teens.

You clearly don't understand South Park then.

Yeah it frusterates me how many people just ignore the show or bash it because of "stupid immature humor"  The show is irreverent and very offensive which why I love it.  No subject is safe they will make fun of everything.  One of my favorite episodes ended up spawning a broadway musical.  Even my parents who absolutely hate anything that swears even understand intelligent humor when they see it (their big mormons and even they laughed when they saw what the musical was about).
Its not for everyone and I get that.  Not everyone can get behind such crude humor but to say your too old for it is a laugh because most of the humor only old people could possibly get.

This is now up for pre-order on Greenmangaming, the bad news is the pre-order is $60. Not great for Obsidian.

Isn't that the normal price for games these days?

Most AAA releases for PC seem to be around $60 and then there are plenty of sales deals within the first 12 months after release.

Within 18 - 24 months after release you can usually find a digital download deal for around $10-15.

Of course I would welcome a lower initial price, but it would raise a bit of a red flag if the MSRP at launch was $30-40, suggesting there would not be much content. Pricing at $60 sets a higher bar and establishes that this is meant to be a AAA game rather than an Indie release.

I'd rather if they ditched this South Park bussiness, and instead infiltrated SEGA and stole the rights for the next Alpha Protocol.

......

Hey, a man can dream right?:crying:

Anyway, really curious how this South Park RPG turns out.

No only for the bigger games and not for pre-order but the publisher is THQ who tend to sell their games at higher average prices than others even EA.

Yeah, we totally need more elves and dwarves, that's the *serious* RPG stuff.

This has the potential of being one of the most unique RPGs out there, especially if Matt & Trey capitalize on it with their writing and if Obsidian is allowed to spread their wings regarding choices and stuff like that.

Big ifs of course, but it could be pretty extraordinary.

With all the high fantasy stuff that has been coming out, this game will be a breath of fresh air. It looks funny. From what I can tell, it seems like Obsidian might have a good publisher for once. I just hope that the recent lay-offs won't affect the quality of the game.

I'm not sure what the "LOL" is for. Excuse Obsidian for trying to create something different instead of more of the same.  Obsidian has the potential to make an rpg that's better then any other studio.

It looks like Matt and Trey are calling the shots and not THQ and from what I read they are excited about the game.

This sounds like such a huge mistake in so many ways. There isn't enough hard liquor on this planet for me to drink to make this a good gaming experience.

Anything having to do with South Park isn't the good kind of different. South Park is a trash cartoon that leaves no room for decent plots.

Considering how long South Park has been running, it is surprising how little it sucks really. Each season has had some hillarious/bright episodes. Can Simpsons say the same? Even Futurama's last season turned quite into bit of a MEHHHHHH.

Most of their social and political commentary doesn't exactly make you to stare in horizon in illumination and awe but sometimes they undeniably nail things in hillarious, genuinely disturbing  and/or depressing fashion, I feel. Point in case, the Britney Spears episode from few years back.
You are getting old from last season made a great episode too. They could have well ended the series there.  Loved the Cthulhu episode where they " expanded" the " lore" of  Kenny:P

Well, I just read on IGN that it has been delayed until 2013 (first quarter I think). I hope it isn't like Alpha Protocol where it was delayed but still full of bugs upon release. I hope this delay gives us a well polished game. Even if it lacks polish, Obsidian is one of, if not, my favorite game developer so I trust they will deliver.

Well it's THQ publishing it right? I hope they are taking their time and not forcing Obsidian to do anything stupid THQ so can't handle losing money right now.

I think you should be looking more towards Matt and Trey. I'd bet if it were up to THQ they would release it this year. They are itching to make money right now which is why they are moving fast with the Saint's Row series.

I have more respect for THQ than SEGA or EA, so I hope they aren't rushing Obsidian like former companies used to. Maybe THQ is playing it smart, though, and knows it can't lose money so they called for the delay (I hope this assessment is correct), or they just noticed all the RPGs that have been released this year...
