I honestly have no clue what nature damage or spirt damage is.. Or what might use the damage type. Is nature like claws? Or bites?
Spirt? im guesing something must use it. undead maybe?
Basically i just have zero clue what kinds of things use this damage type, can anyone point me in the right direction? (i checked a dragon age wikki, and couldnt find any lists of what types of things have the damage type. So if its listed on that site, if you could link me i would be very happy)

I believe it is possible to go into the game "Options" menu and set it so that damage caused by various enemies will display as a colored number on your monitor during battle. Spirit damage shows as a blue number, nature damage shows as a green number, and so on.
Shrieks tend to do nature damage (poisonous). Mages do various types of damage -- spirit, fire, electricity, and so on. Usually pretty obvious which is which with mages.
I guess the strategy with the salves is to apply them when needed. Use a nature salve if you need one against shrieks. If the enemy mage is burning your Wardens, apply a warmth salve. Sometimes the salves can be lifesavers.
Early in the game the lesser salves work well enough. Later on use the greater salves.

ahhh... shrieks are nature? i would of thought they would be spirit 
those things always shread me, so ill definatly be trying that next time i get ganked by them.
Ill definatly give that options thing a try and see if i can figure it out. Cause not only salves, there are lots of items that have those protection and i never knew what was doing those damage types. Like lots of armor or rings even weapons have protections against.
Fot the longest time i thought physical resist was vrs weapons, but then i learned it was knock down protection. This i guess will be the final key to understanding the damage in the game.
But yea, i was using them right before needed, like in the case of a dragon and warming balm, or fire demons for example. My when to use was more about against what vrs timing, and i know they do really help vrs fire, so i figured they must work well in these other areas. I just didn't know vrs what.

Well, you have me wondering now. Maybe the shrieks are doing spirit damage.
I think I need to take my own advice and set the options to show the damage on my display next time I have a shriek attack. Generally I don't like having the numbers flying around, but perhaps just to find out for certain what it is with shrieks.
