Now a good number is asking what does this have to do with anything? As much as i hate telling bioware what to do or claiming that i "have solved their problem" i have come up with a suggestion. It is an interesting suggestion even though after doing a cost benefit analysis, it sees very unlikely to work...Lets start
Dragon age or bioware games contain a dialogue tree. With this tree reponses are picked accordingly. The problem arises when the game has multiple origins. How do we put so much content into a game plus a few extra male or female voices? It is most likely that due to resources this would not happen on a single current generation disc. A proposed solution.
A Game content server with a voice database
example
I'm a male dwarf who is about to make a snarky comment
Request sent with character infor------> remote server---->acceses database(response is queried)
Query is sent back------->Response is the output
From a high view it sounds practical. The voice database can even contain 10 different voices male or female.
Here is where the problems come in.
- This would be extremely expensive to implement(very very expensive)
- The database administrator would have a lot on his hands
- lagged connection, lagged response
-COST BENEFIT(users would expect it to be free...but free in this case would not be practical)
i do not know what sound format bioware uses for dialogue but they look like really large packets(won't work!)
Pros
- Everyone is happy
- Body type and facial structure is like hardware(cheap and easy)
- more flexibility
-Wider range for character development
Seems to me like this little experiment of mine will fail.....oh well
