I've tried to search this problem, sorry but I haven't been able to find someone with a similar problem.   There is a bug when I try to exit soldier's peak when I am finishesd with the quest.   I've played the quest several different ways but still the same exiting problem.    The only way out the way I see it is to not do the Quest at all and go to Denerim directly.    It doesn't matter which way I try to exit I run into Dryden trying to sell me his wares.    The graphics are all messed up the floor is black, and most of the side graphics are missing.    I can't move or exit only talk.    The game had been playing perfectly up to that point:?

Mods??
First thought is either graphics card taking a dump, or driver conflict.
Second thought is corrupted file, in which a reinstall may help.
But these are guesses because of incomplete hardware data.

Yes sorry I guess you could use some more information.

I was able to exit soldier's peak just before completing the quest - the problem seems to be with when Dryden sets up his business at Soldier's peak. It doesn't matter which exit I use to get to a screen with screwed up graphics. I can see Dryden and talk to him but with the floor all black I can't move and most of the side graphics missing can't click on anything to move.

I have played the rest of the game for hours and it has performed flawlessly, only sometimes it takes a little longer to actually load up a new section of the game.

I had 3rd part mods installed I took them all off and the problem was still there. Essentially that is the only real step I took to try to solve it.

I would capture the screwed up screen but I am not sure how to do that with the game running. My usual screen capture Utility doesn't work with the game running.

I will try a re-install thanks. I tried to reply, and it was a lot of tying but somehow when I posted it somehow got erased

Suffice it to say I have way more than the minimum requirements, I had MODs installed but the first thing I did was uninstall them to see if the problem persisted.

Luckily I was able to exit just before completing this quest with my equipment and Exp points intact. As long as Dryden hasn't set up his business I can exit no problem. I have played the game for hours since with no problems. I'm no expert but I think you are right a corrupted file on my computer would seem to be the most likely problem,

This issue on mine only occurs to the Mage Avatar when exiting the building it skips to the first time you return to soldiers peak. You are speaking to dryden for the return several triggers are skipped over for the mage. The first trigger missed is dryden speaking entering the peak it skipped the video about him getting lost. next you are at the entrance of the gate and the video exicutes normally. Next error it allows you to put on the mages staff that is magic 36 cold and +7 spell power even though your magic level is less than 36 next triggers missed are at the end of the battle with Averis (names maybe spelled wrong) dryden goes straight to the end converstation of staying at soldiers peak and setting up shop before the final battle with the minions this is I decided to kill Avris and take his stuff. Next when you exit the building it throws you off the map grid. everyone is stuck you see dryens feet while he welcomes you back to the peak and you should be exiting the peak for the first time. You are next to the exit down the snow where you should exit except you are returning for the first time in the sequence of triggers. This is the PC version. I also saved before going to soldies peak but had spoken to dryden to get the quest. This happened once before but not sure what is causing it.

i am going to try to load different sequences or skip soldiers peak altogether on the mage to see if I can exit maybe if I dont talk to avris i can excape with the stuff.

I just reloaded and the last save I made was at soldiers peak the save though was of the fade when you start the mage avatar. this is reallyl messed up i loaded another save before speaking to dryden not sure if this will fix it trying any suggestions would help lots. some how the fade file and soldiers peak merged to a save file although it would be great to be in the fade at level 12 it would be so easy. ????

ok solution found do not put any of the gear on while in Soldiers Peak. You will be able to exit normally also do the quest after given it do not delay for some reason these two events cause the triggers to mess up and corrupt your character file. If you do make this mistake, reload from before you accepted the quest and play through the Peak at once. When you exit it should let you save at camp or any other location.
