I bought the Ultimate edition, which says this content is included. However I can't find any way to start this as an in-game quest, nor do I see any files in the unzipped package that would allow me to start this as a separate game and import my character from Origins.
What gives? Did my Ultimate edition not actually contain this content?

Have you updated to 1.05??
Check your ingame download page and see what it lists for GoA, because it was originally a dlc, and I think the ultimate edition just gives you the dl for free.

No. When I tried to update to 1.04, the game no longer worked at all and I had to re-install it from the downloaded file. That was several hours of my life that I want back again.

I think I figured it out. The patch I tried to apply was buggy, but rolling it back fixed the issue.

Most likely. UE is already 1.04. Trying to install the seperate 1.04 over UE's installation is known to cause issues. Installing the 1.05 though should cause no problems and may in fact help in some areas, especially DLC issues.
