1) Sten's reaction during Leliana's song. Its only about 5 seconds but I love the element of doubt that seems to creep across his face and then he seems angry at himself for harbouring that doubt. At least that was my personal interpretation.

2) I very much like both DAOrigins and DAII's companion speeches before the final battle. More so in Origins though.

3) The decision to save Amaranthine rather than the keep despite everyone saying it was lost.

4) The death of the Archdemon by the Warden is very well done.

5) The memorial/funeral for the dead Warden is a powerful moment.

6) Bethany's return from the Wardens in Act 3 to help Hawke after the tension that has existed between them since the deep roads expedition was a great moment.

7) Many of Hawke's sarcastic lines. After all he does have an "excellent sense of dramatic timing...and good hair".

Oh so many great memories already mentioned. I'm on my 5th play through of DAO I love it so much, but I guess if I had to pick 1 most favourite it would be the Alistair kiss moment the first time round, it was so unexpected for me because I had no idea you could romance your companions at that point. It has moved me to tears a number of times and I still cannot bring myself to do the Alistair sacrifice scene.

So many good memories from DA2 as well but it wasn't as emotionally charged as DAO I think (although the end chat of legacy at the fireplace with your dead mum made me mist up....)

My favourite moment ever was just before the archdemon fight in DA:O, when all the companions give their farewell speeches to you, and then you run down past all the cheering soldiers.

This. Sten and Oghren if  left behind especially.

Oghren has seriously the BEST line in that speech. The hearts thing. I'd done Orzammar last so hadn't really given much thought to Oghren, but he totally won me over with that. That, and the bit about naming his kid after you if you have a US Warden.

Being suckered into a violent cult that demands you give up your free will isn't exactly indicative of great leadership skills.

Just sayin'.

That was not what I meant. He just seemed to be more open and less afraid to ****** off the nobles by his actions than father dear, who did nothing and let the drama happen.

Oh where to start!
For DAO I was sucked in when Alistair tells Duncan that we'll light the beacon but if he "asks me to put on a dress and dance the Remigold, that's where I draw the line". Just so funny and I was hooked!

Oghren's gate speech gave me tingles, and Morrigan's I loved if you had her friended to the max. "Live well, love gloriously".

for DA2 - I'm going to fangirl here, but the moment Fenris spoke I was a goner. I love Gideon Emery's voice. And it didn't hurt that his lines were also very well written.

I also really liked that in DA2 I could keep "tweaking" my character throughout the entire game! Love that Mirror of Transformation!

Great job OP, we need more people like you!<3
As for Da:O: The whole ending, I have nerver had so many feelings at the same time. Plus most of Alistairs banter.
And in Da2: Merrills accent, I been a sucker for Wales ever sinse.

In origins, battle at Ostagar...wow first time I played it, I was absolutely blown away. Loghains betrayal, and Duncan looking up at the lit beacon... just awesome

Actually this sticks out to me too, I think I remember holding my breath at that moment. Very powerful.

^This

DAO:
My first playthrough as a Dalish Elf, playing the "No! I won't go! Stupid Friggity Shem!" type, I got teary eyed when her and Duncan, after saying goodbye to the Clan, were walking up the path and she pauses to look over her shoulder, probably for the last time, sadly at her Clan.  Seeing Tamlen again....*sigh* and this was my first Ultimate Sacrifice character....so the funeral was sad too.

Loved the Music.

And the first time I killed the Archdemon.....fist pumping epic.

DA2:
Party banters, all companions.....they were great.

The Aveline/Donnic quest.....I always get squirrley when that quest is comming up, I love it. I like that if you flirt with Aveline throughout, Hawke doesn't give a smug little smirk there, but kind of a little pissed off look.

And the first time I killed the Arishock.....OMG, I felt so drained...and relieved.

For the big story ones-
The final battle in DAO, with each companions' little speech was very touching. The same again when you stab the Archdemon, and two of your companions are just watching like they want to help, but they don't know what to do, and they fear for your life.

Meeting people again with the origin-specific details (like seeing Tamlen again as a Dalish, Jowan as a mage, etc), and that part of the Gauntlet where you see the loved one that you 'failed'.

Arriving at Amaranthine and making the decision whether to save it or burn it.

The entirety of the All That Remains quest, but especially the last moments with Leandra, the resulting conversations with Gamlen, LI and Aveline.

Meeting Warden Carver again during the Qunari attack. Quite tense, and it felt as though there was so much he and Hawke could have said to one another.

Hawke and companions on the boat as they go to the Gallows for the final battle.

Character specific-
Alistair making the US so that my Warden didn't have to on my first playthrough. It was heartbreaking because he was the first LI.

The moment when characters like Morrigan and Shale warm up and admit that they like/respect the Warden. In particular Morrigan's "sisters" speech. Very sweet.

A few Zevran moments - firstly his nightmare in the Fade, it was the first place I took him and the first time I realised he was deeper than he appeared to be. Also his speech if you leave him behind in the final battle and he's romanced. Heartbreaking.

Sten's reaction to getting his sword back, the big softie.

Justice's line about the world being so full of beauty that it goes overlooked.

Aveline's Act 2 quest with Donnic. It's so awkward, but so lovely seeing her get her man.

Fenris' reaction in his Act 3 quest, if a romanced Hawke tells him that he's not alone, because he has her/him.

Isabela returning with the Tome of Koslun.

Whenever Merrill speaks. Heh, but her little conversations with Isabela are so sweet. Also, one instance where I sided with the templars, and Merrill was high on friendship, but not maxed so she helped the mages. Just before Hawke fought her, she made a little speech about Hawke being the best friend she'd ever had. It made me want to cry.

Not all of these are "favorites" per se, but they are certainly the most memorable (DA:O only for now):

- The HN Warden's last goodbye to his parents was a bit of a tearjerker. It's interesting how attached I'd become to the Couslands despite having spent so little time with them in-game - that was well done on Bioware's part. Needless to say, I wanted Arl Howe's head on a pike after that (and always do, HN Warden or not - guy's the ultimate scumbag).

- Similarly, the HN Warden's encounter with Bryce in The Gauntlet is quite touching as well. It's brief, but it moved me all the same.

- The DN Warden's battle with Trian and Bhelen's betrayal was pretty epic. In fact, that whole origin is amazing - easily the best of them all, IMHO.

- I found the CE Warden's confrontation with Vaughan to be thoroughly satisfying - especially the part where I stabbed him in the gut with one blade, then chopped his head off with the other. Glorious.

- The Tower of Ishal foreshadowed the sheer brutality of the darkspawn. Dozens of butchered corpses stuck on pikes and hung up on meat racks - I figured the darkspawn were pretty vicious, but I wasn't expecting all that. Of course, that only set the stage for what was to come when I entered the Deep Roads later on...

- Loghain's betrayal is also a bit of a tearjerker - the way the cutscene plays out with the music is all so very sad, and gets to me every time I see it. Particularly when Duncan looks up at the Tower of Ishal just before the Hurlock Alpha swings his axe. :(

- The scene of Zathrian finally ending the werewolf curse was pretty powerful - the music especially was perfect for the scene.

- Leliana's song is hands down the most beautiful, moving scene in the entire game. I don't think anything more needs to be said about it than that.

- The events of the Dead Trenches will haunt me forever. Learning the horrific truth about what the darkspawn really do with the people they capture shocked me to the core - from hearing Hespith's rhyme all the way up to the Broodmother encounter. I knew then and there why the Grey Wardens must destroy the darkspawn by any means necessary.

- Encountering Arl Howe again as a HN Warden got me pretty fired up. I wanted to draw my blade and cut him down right in front of Eamon and Loghain - especially when he dared tell a bald-faced lie about my family right in front of me.

- While somewhat underwhelming due to the briefness of the encounter, finally getting Arl Howe alone in his estate and avenging your family felt oh so very satisfying. I slew him in one-on-one combat with the family blade, then had my dog ****** on his corpse afterward. I still wish the battle would've lasted longer, because he certainly "deserved more."

- The death of the Archdemon is probably my overall favorite moment in the game. Seeing the Warden/Alistair/Loghain rush up to the Archdemon, slash its throat, then slam their sword into its head is the very definition of "awesome" - and the scene is especially epic if you're playing as a dwarf.

That's all I can think of right now. In fact, talking about it makes me want to play the game again. LOL.

My City Elf had a two-hander, and the decapitation was equally satisfying *g*. I wonder if there's a script set to have your character automatically behead him? (Unless they're using a bow or something, I suppose.)

Sword and shield Dwarf noble ran him through with her sword. I guess it is a bit more believable that he was still able to talk after that move.

Believe it or not, I usually leave him alive on non-CE playthroughs for RP purposes - my HN or DN doesn't know anything about the events at the wedding and has no real reason to kill him or leave him in his cell, especially when Vaughan can offer the Wardens his support at the Landsmeet.

He also appears in the duel cutscene in the Landsmeet whether you killed or left him in his cell or not. I find that a bit aggravating. >:(

Oh, and one more moment that hit me pretty hard in the game was entering the Alienage orphanage later in the game. Apparently, Howe and his band of butchers decided to run through the orphanage and brutally slaughter every man, woman, and child who lived within. They killed so many, in fact, it seems to have sundered the Veil and let demons infest the place.

There are no words that can accurately describe my hatred of Arl Howe at this point. There's no telling how many people died horribly at that the mercy (or lack thereof) of that psychopath, but greater justice was due. I would've gladly dragged him back into that torture shack he had in his basement and spent a few hours giving him what he truly deserved.

from dragon age origins
1) telling Alistair to ****** off just before setting off to the final battle with the archdemon.
2) The entire city elf origin.
3) battle at ostagar.
4) Loghain sacrificing himself to Kill the Archdemon.
5) deny zevran to join the orgy.

Dragon age 2
1) the showdown between Hawke and The Arishok.
2) Varric's exaggerated story of how he hunted down Bartrand.
3) Anders blowing up the chantry.
4) How most of my party betrayed me in the fade.

When you speak to Vaughan in the cell, he does say some unkind things about elves, and it is hard to pretend that I don't know about the CE origin, even if my warden isn't a city elf. Just the way he talks makes me not want to let him loose.

Usually, I get his key for the chest in his room, then kill him. You can easily win the landsmeet without his vote.

Well, I don't think him saying mean things about the elves justifies me randomly killing him. A lot of characters throughout the game have said mean things to and about the elves, but I don't just up and cut them down for it.

Unless, of course, I was playing a Dalish or Elf Magi and he started mouthing off - I'd be inclined to at least leave him in his cell in that case. LOL.

For DA:O it would be my first Warden's death. And the funeral afterwards (Sorry Leliana...). There was something in my eye (first timer for games).
For DAII my favorite memory is becoming aggressive when Thrask and Grace kidnap Bethany. No more diplomatic with funny sprinkles. The game pushed my "berserk button" and i loved it.

Probably Orzammar with its improbably grand structures in the middle of a volcano, and all the politics and lore about Caridin and Branka and broodmothers and all that.

Also liked learning about the mages (circle, apostate, Tevinter, Dalish) and the Fade.

I'd say just learning about all the lore and then how it's presented visually are what may be the most "memorable" for me. Most of that happened in DAO I suppose. There was just a little introduced about darkspawn and qunari in DA2 maybe, and then the idol which was pretty much completely unexplained so that wasn't very fulfilling.

DAO: As many have already stated, Ostagar: everything about that first battle. Allistar and his damn rose.....such a sucker for that. Didn't even know that "romance" was something available in the game the first time around. Played it completely "green". Zevran and Shale's party banter with pretty much everyone; fabulous! Having Shiani mention my "wedding" in front of both Ali and Zev with my female CE warden; great reactions. Sten pulling his blade on me in Haven; challenging my authority...(using my best Cartmen voice). Killing Mr. Curry....ummm, I mean Randon Howe. *grin*

For DAII; the first time I hear/see Fenris in Bait and Switch. All conversations with the Arishok; didn't agree with him, but still respected him....go figure. Party banter between Aveline and Isabella.....awesome. Convos with M. Petrice; very well written. May not have agreed with Qunari philosophy, but hated being set up by Petrice. Still, great dialog....."Stubborn." First time I succesfully pulled off a CCC; again, did first run completely green, so was just trying different things in combat (actually started to pay attention to what was written next to the talents/spells/upgrades...who knew. HA!)

I seem to remember Vaughn being smart enough to show a modicum of tact to an elven rescuer. When my human noble ran into him I remember him saying "You know how elves are, every so often they get hte idea that they are people" when asked about the reason for the uprising and purge in the alienge. When my dalish ran into him in Howe's dungeon, I think he might have said something like "Who knows?! You know how elves are."

Good idea for a thread! I'll only post my favorites from Origins and Awakening for now so it's not a giant wall of text.
  • The end of the Cousland origin made me tear up.
  • The bit in the City Elf origin where Soris slides a sword across the floor and between two guards to the female PC. I was grinning like an idiot.
  • The subsequent conversation with Vaughan, with fantastic voice-acting from Shianni, made me rage. My first City Elf didn't get the two-handed sword decapitation sequence because she had a different weapon, but my male one did, and it was very satisfying.
  • Everything about the Ostagar sequence, especially Alistair's introduction and Duncan killing the ogre. Daveth made me laugh with the "Heh, I'll watch your back" line  to my female Warden.
  • On my first playthrough, charging down the giant bridge in the Deep Trenches going, "This game is awesome."
  • "You have my eternal thanks, stranger. Atrast nal tunsha...may you always find your way in the dark."
  • Meeting the ghost in the Gauntlet, especially Tamlen and Bryce Cousland
  • Meeting Tamlen as a shriek after I'd finished the Urn of Sacred Ashes quest and assumed, considering what the spirit said, that he had already died ("We will not meet again," my foot). ."Always...loved you...I'm so sorry..." :(
  • The final confrontation with Arl Howe, especially with a Cousland.
  • Conversations with the companions at the city gates.
  • Alistair's sacrifice, the US, and arguing with Morrigan about the ritual with my Morrigan-romancing mage and male Leliana-romancing City Elf.
  • Meeting Anders and Nathaniel in Awakening. Varel taking an arrow for the Warden-Commander.
I'll put my first one for DA2: Whoever decided to cast Leandra with the same VA who did Eleanor Cousland is a genius, because I instantly went, "Oh, it's Mom!" when she started talking in DA2. It was a nice touch for anyone who played a HN.

Coming around the corner and seeing the Broodmother for the first time.

Almost running head-on into the Archdemon in the Deep Roads.

Hearing that almost deeply sincere quiver in Morrigan's voice when she says something along the lines of "Although I may not always prove worthy...of your friendship...I will always respect it."

Sten, basically because you really had to work and listen and ask the right things to get him to finally open up a little beyond "yes" and "no" responses.

Siding with Bhelen...which seemed bad at first until you realize that in the end, he sort of makes the dwarven kingdom better under his reign. As compared to Harrowmont who dies due to the stress and the political bickering starts all over again.
