I had to add Varric's Haunted quest and the Blackmarsh setting in Awakening.

With Haunted, I liked the floating furniture (especially that chair that turns upside down and sticks to the ceiling), and the overall creepy feeling while doing that quest.  I liked Aveline's response to the floating chair.  That vase that flies at Hawke and hits them always makes me jump in my seat, no matter how many times I do that quest. The reward for doing that quest (lyrium rune) is also nice.

The Blackmarsh is also creepy with the abandoned, overgrown village setting, and then seeing what it was like in the past, while in the fade.  The Baroness was one of my favorite DA villains, as I like her voice, and the fact that she had no remorse for all of those things that she did to the villagers.

Nice threat, so many memories are coming up...

DA:O
1) Leliana singing at the campfire and the reactions everybody is showing. That's a moment of pure magic and it is very fitting to her character.

2) The first encounter with Morrigan and Flemeth. That character really got me, probably the best character ever written for a RPG. That culminates in the black ritual and what that implies for a further DA.

3) The ghosts in the old warden keep from one of the DLCs. I really loved how that turned blood magic everything from black to grey, trying to fight fire with fire.

4) Discovering the brood mother and the eery chant before that. That was pure horror and it was very mature.

5) The ending of the Brecilian Forest quest line. The resolution of that with Zathrian sacrificing himself was moving and epic, fantasy at its best.

6) Defending Redcliffe in the night. That battle was epic and very well done!

DA2
1) Varrics introduction and the way the story is told, starting with the legend everybody seems to know down to the reality. I really love the feeling of getting to know the truth behind the legend. Cassandra also seems to be a great character with a lot of potential.

2) The arrival at Kirkwall. That had an epic feeling about it, sadly that wasn't exploited, more cinematics and a city living up these cinematics would have turned that game into an instant epic.

3) Every moment with Flemeth, she is such a great character and the voice acting is amazing. I actually like the new design of her and the power that it implies.

4) Isaballa on her wait out of Anders clinics. Very hilarious Image IPB and of course her returning with the Koslun. Her romance dialogues with Hawke are also quite good.

5) The destruction of the chantry and the inevitability of the following events.

(The multiple starter stories.)
   - The human noble story was worth doing over and over again. The characters were all so human and enduring. My heart broke every time I completed it and I had to leave 'my' parents to die. Having my naughty/flirty character be able to flirt with Duncan was so funny too! The short lived romance options were just awesome. I can't think of anything negative at all with that starter story. Even the nanny was an awesome character!
   - The mage starter story was perfect too! I always felt like there was a deep story behind the story there and it was ripe for modder side stories. Cullen was an epic character to love and hate. I wished I could have played through a full story of being brought to the circle and all the possible side dramas that could have happened there.
   - Even though I had no interest in playing a dwarf nor did I ever play through the game as a dwarf, I did the dwarf starter stories to get the achievements and I sure didn't regret doing it! Talk about epic drama for both the noble and the street rat! Just amazing!
   - The elf alienage story was dark and dramatic. The fixed marriage and how it turned out was worth at least a couple play-throughs.
All in all each starter area was like a game of it's own and I felt it really got me connected with my character, even before the story began.

(Main Story)
- Alistair. The sensitive funny guy. I don't get why people found him whiny, he had every right to be upset about what was happening around him. He was very, very human and real, and a great character with amazing character acting.
- Flemeth. Epic character and AMAZING voice acting.
- Morrigan. I tried to hate her, I really did, but she was just so real and alive and I sympathized with her situation. So much so I was willing to kill Flemeth even though I adored her Image IPB Even after the ritual with 'my man' Image IPB I ended up thanking her for everything she had done.
- Sandal. Enchantment!
- Running into Cullen again with the female mage. I sympathized but wanted to smack him upside the head. Perfect.
- For me the characters made the game and everything else really just fell together because of them.

DA2
- Flemeth! Yay!
- Again it was all about the characters. Despite wishing there was more 'buy-in' with my character the companions lead the way to a very good story.

Okay, so I tried not to reply again, but reading everyone else's replies got me thinking lol.... so I must definitely include the pre-final battle speeches in origins, as I felt they were perfect for the culmination of each characters development. From da2, Im gonna go with Isabella bailing on you once she has the tome lol caught me off guard the first time. And finally I must include Morrigan.. I tried to find a specific moment, but couldn't come up just one, just an overall phenomenal character. I remain curious as to the whereabouts of her and my warden lol

DA:O
-I picked the "City Elf" origin on my first, "canon" playthrough because I really enjoy playing out stories of heroes that go through traumatic experiences but end up working through their problems and becoming stronger people because of it. I played my female elf as originally being reluctant to go through her marriage, but being impressed with her groom before she was kidnapped and he died trying to protect her. She picked up her wedding ring from his body and it never once left her finger after that moment. I think in general she felt motivated to stop the blight not only because she wanted to protect the people she cared about, but because she wanted to make his sacrifice worthwhile.

-I went into Origins not quite understanding how the relationship system worked, so I borked it a bit and ended up going through most of Alistair's dialogue very early on in the game. My City Elf, Laicoriel, was romancing Alistair but hadn't quite gotten far enough to sleep with him. ...And then Connor happened. I purposefully wanted to accept the consequences of my actions, even the mistakes, so when I failed to save the First Enchanter at the circle and ended up accepting the Templar's help, I was forced to choose between killing Connor or sacrificing his mother. In the end, I sacrificed her. I wasn't quite thinking when I put my party together--Alistair was always in my party, I needed him to tank--so of course he was present for it and it GREATLY damaged his relationship with Laicoriel. I felt incredibly guilty when he chewed her out for it afterward, and spent most of the rest of the game trying to repair their relationship enough to make it work, but although they stayed in love with each other they never quite repaired their relationship, and I didn't want to harden him, so they ended up parting ways after he won his bid to be the new king. It meant I didn't quite get the ending that I wanted--but it made the rest of the game really bittersweet.

(As a side note, I got spoiled on the endings and almost decided to have Laicoriel sacrifice herself to defeat the Arch Demon as a melodramatic end to all the crap I'd put her through. Fortunantly my brother pointed out to me that since I always had Alistair around, he would end up sacrificing HIMSELF to protect HER, so I did the dark ritual instead because I couldn't bear to see him killed. Although it probably would've but a really, really darkly comedic twist to the end of everything that'd happened.....)

-Just...Branka. Everything surrounding the Brood Mother and her. There were no characters I felt as intense a hatred for in that game than her. The things she put her people through were horrific.

-Being able to petition for more freedom for the city elves at the end of the quest. Really, anything involving the city elf origin really stuck with me.

Awakenings
-Ser Pounce-A-Lot. Partially because I'd decided that Laicoriel was attracted to Anders (his sense of humor reminded her of Alistair) and I decided that the kitten was partially an awkward attempt at expressing affection for him. ...And of course he ended up with Hawke. Poor, poor Laicoriel. FOREVER ALONE.

DA2
-I think, as a whole, Hawke ended up being a really memorable character to me. I started out knowing that I wanted Hawke to be a different character from Laicoriel, but I also knew that I tended to play the "diplomatic and super kind but tragic" type of character as a default, so I forced myself to come up with a concept for Hawke's personality before I started playing. I decided I wanted to play Kira Hawke as a selfish, snarky, devil-may-care type of character that cared the most about excitement, danger, and constantly pushing her limits. The only things she cared about more than adreniline rushes were her family. Which...ended up coloring the entire game. For example...

-Bethany joining the circle. Bethany was one of the few people that got a softer, gentler side out of Kira, since she had a lot of affection for her sister and was really close to her. Losing her was brutal, and also gave Kira a reason to care about the Mage/Templar debate when she really wasn't invested in it before.

-Anders, specifically his romance. Kira started flirting with him because he said "I'm dangerous and you shouldn't get involved with me." Basically, that made him just like any of the other dangerous situations she rushed into for the fun of it. (My brother laughed when I told him this and said "It sounds like her mantra is "CHALLENGE ACCEPTED"" and...yeah, it totally was.) I actually didn't even intend for her to end up with Anders at first, but Fenris instead (partially because I'd already seen bits and pieces of Ander's romance while my brother was playing through with his character, and I wanted to try something different) but the kiss scene won me over. Basically, Anders made a move before Fenris did, so he "won". It ended up being the other thing that drove her to be extremely pro-mage--when her mother died and Anders was there to comfort her (even after she lashed out at mages), Anders basically became the most important person in her life because he was, in a way, the only "family" she really had left. By the time the endgame had happened and he'd blown up the Chantry, Kira didn't give a damn about the consequences--she was NOT going to allow Anders to die or run off without her. In the end, I think Kira had gotten as crazy-obsessive about Anders as Anders was crazy-obsessive about mage rights. They...uh...make a frightening couple.

...Actually now that I think about it I really seem to enjoy playing characters who kind of lose it because of their romances, huh. Oh well, in the end Kira was a waaaay more selfish and violent character than I usually play, but it ended up being rewarding to challenge myself to play a character like that. Plus it made the entire end game (and Varric's groan of "Don't remind me--I introduced them!") make a lot of sense in my mind.

-Actually, while I'm at it? Varric is awesome. He's full of quotable lines and memorable scenes, but still has a ton of depth to him when it comes to his relationship with his brother. He's probably my favorite in DA2, although I love all of the characters in it.

-Merrill's final quest. Remember how I said that I like to "accept the consequences" of the choices I make in the game? Yeah...uh...I ended up killing her entire clan because of the wrong dialogue choice. I felt a lump in my throat the entire time I slaughtered them, I didn't expect that I would kill ALL of them until the battle was over and I was surrounded by the corpses of all of the elves. I think I felt even guiltier over that than I did about Connor and the subsequent disaster that was Alistiar and Laicoriel's relationship.

-The Arishock duel. I felt SO proud of myself for getting through that battle after only a few tries, particularly since I'm actually not really all that good at battling.

-The High Dragon fight. Particularly because I was controlling Anders instead of Hawke (which I rarely do, but I wanted to be in control of the healing since that battle was so tough). I normally had a hard time hearing the battle cries in the game, so until I played as Anders I didn't even realize that the companions shouted things when Hawke fell in battle--so when Anders screamed "No! Don't be dead! PLEASE!" when she fell I was so shocked by the sudden realization on how much she mattered to him that I had to pause the game for a few moments because my eyes were full of tears. It's silly that in everything that happened in the game that this was the moment that brought me to tears, but it was so unexpected for me that it really got to me.

-Oh, that reminds me--hearing how frightened Hawke was when she was trying to find her mother really got to me, too, particularly because of the way I'd been playing her personality out.

...Wow, I think DA2 ended up being a bit more emotional and memorable for me than DA:O. I love both, though.

You know, I started a list and decided it would be WAY too long and I just can't bring myself to shorten it.  Especially if you include DLC, which I always do.  Plus, when I try to compile the list, I either end up LMAO or just feeling incredibly heartbroken for a few hours.  I'll just say that, overall, my Dalish Warden and my MageHawke both emotionally exhausted me very much!

The two things that I didn't see anyone else list, however...

In DAO the cutscenes of the Archedeamon:
in Bownamar...I LOVED that scene.  From the creeping up, to the Warden's look of sheer determination...it was just poetic for me!
The one where Riordan dies is pretty freaking awesome the same way...you know he's effing failed and it's all on you.  Nice stuff there.
Also my very first Warden manced Alistar and I didn't know that he wouldn't let me kill the thing if I didn't trick him...yeah, first time I ever cried at a game.

In DA2 the last straw:  Two big shockers for my MageHawke
First, she manced Fen, and I was VERY shocked when he actually freaking stuck around when I sided with Orsino.  I was kind of going for tragic ending stuff there.  So when Fen didn't even bat an eye at my MageHawke for siding with mages, I about fell out of my chair.  Especially since my mage was my second playthrough.  My rouge had to freaking kill him over the same choice.
Second, when Warden Carver comes back to save her bacon.  I seriously thought I was going to freaking cry b/c I didn't know that he'd do that.  I also kinda chuckled at it, because I was kinda like...yeah, that's my baby bro!  Can't decide if he loves me to death or hates my guts!

I also liked warden Carver's return.

He just wanted to be with his brother/sister again, since they were the only family he had left (besides Gamlen/Charade).

I also liked Carver's adjusted personality from pre-Deep Roads, where he despised his elder sibling.

Heh! I'd forgotten about that, first DA:O play through, Alistair safely on the throne, PC all ready to die, and what does he do, he runs off and kills the flaming Archdemon; think I actually shouted "Get back here you numptie!" (or something close) when that happened.

I'll give Bioware this, there's few games out there that have me talking to my computer quite as much as theirs do.

Dragon Age Origins

Any interaction anyone ever had with my Mabari (DAO or DA2)

Meeting Morrigan in Ostagar was really cool I thought that was the best introduction of a party member in the whole game (or any of the Bioware games that I have played for that matter).

When I realized that my Warden would die when he defeated the Archdemon before Morrigan made her offer.

Leilana's romance because I could never complete it kept glitching which lead to about 3 more play throughs......

I liked Wynne a lot it was interesting to have an older party member

Zeveran switching sides and trying to kill me

Morrigan's relationship with Flemeth

Return to Ostagar DLC burying Cailan was depressing but moving. I thought it was a shame that
he died because he could have matured into a good king (which was probably the whole point).

DA 2 The party banter about Isabella and Varric's romance novel based on Aveline and Donnic was hilarious. The party banter was the best part about dragon age 2 except when I got to far ahead of the team and couldn't hear them anymore.

The Cassandra and Varric cut scenes were cool. I liked how she kept calling him out those actors had good chemistry.

My very first playthrough I played a dalish Elf female. The first time I ever cried while playing a video game was when Tamlen came back and he tried not to kill you. You go and talk to him again and he has to attack you. My character ran away. Same playthrough, I didn't harden Alistair and he was to become King and he dumps my Warden after the landsmeet.

All of the Brecilian Forest, from the menacing looking, but ultimately kind Rhyming Tree, to the crazy old Hermit, to the roar you hear walking down the steps going into a dragon's lair. Everything about that whole area was done extremely well, including the return quests you do there, with Wynne's old pupil, the Thieves guild and the apostate's performing dark magic. Best equipment quest of the game, with the Juggernaut and the ensuing wards to get the assorted pieces. Top that off with the Beast Within plot and its easily one of the most memorable areas in my RPG experience. Which, given my RPG experience, is saying something.

DA:O
Most of the companion's speeches at the gates of Denerim. Oghren's especially warms my heart every time.
Going into the Eluvian with Morrigan at the end of Witch Hunt. My Warden deserved that happy ending!
In Awakening, on my canon save I save Armarathine and leave Anders, Oghren, and Justice behind, since technically there the only ones who live(Justice reappearing in DA:2 of course and the game reading Natahaniel as dead if you leave him there no matter what). I loded back for the achievement for saving Vigil's Keep and left Sigrun, Justice, and Velanna behind. When I came back, I don't remember what the others said, but Velanna said something like "You... you didn't leave me?" in such a heartbreaking tone that reminds me why, despite the hate for her, she is one of my favorite companions.
Anders' spicy shimmy.
Choosing Loghain over Alistair. Such a satisfying feeling. I like Alistair, but he is not a good Grey warden. Loghain's much better.
Sten. Just Sten. The Qunari are by far the most intresting race in the game, and Sten represents the best with his deadpan humor, enlightening explainations, and subtle heartwarming moments.
Zevran hitting on Wynne. Hell, just Zevran.
Wynne being motherly. she's the only one to ask your Warden how (s)he's doing and I love that.
Leliana singing at camp.
DA:2
Aveline and Isabela's banter. Best Virtolic Best Friends I've ever seen.
Aveline in general. Like Wynne, she's the only one to ask you how you're doing, and is the only non-LI to comfort you about your mother's death, and does it way better than any of them.  her story man, just tears. "No one should tell you how to mourn. And when someone says 'move on', you take their hand and say, 'my choice'."
The credits. Such a powerful feeling thanks to that song. It really brought the game together.
The Arishok. Just the Arishok. Such a powerful, intriguing character. I loved him more than some of my companions!
Anders blowing up the chantry. It was amazingly shocking.
Sebastian's accent. Dislike everything else about him, but that accent....
"Ten years from now... a hundred years from now, someone like me will love someone like you, and there will be no Templars to tear them apart." I don't like Anders much, but that line is so powerful.
Merill's cuteness. A bit manufactured, sure, but it still makes me feel bad when I don't romance her.

My favourite moment from DA:O was meeting Tamlen again. "He sings to me!" is a masterpiece, his voice acting was fabulous. And Morrigan's "Live well, my friend. Live gloriously." was good, too.

From DA2, Anders's love scene, first kiss and "No mage I know ever dared to fall in love. This is the rule I will most cherish breaking", of course. And blowing up the Chantry. Especially blowing up the Chantry. "Or worse, what if you wanted to help? I couldn't let you do that".

I'd say for DA:O it was the voice acting, for DA2 it was the writing. "What do you call it when you kill someone to take all their stuff?" - "Tuesday."

I totally agree - this was just amazing. Especially since I'd just turned down the Dark Ritual and knew my Warden was marching off to his demise. I would add that seeing all the different allies I made join the battle really tied together the whole game. For some reason during the entire game the whole "gather these different allies to your cause" aspect of the plot, despite being the main storyline, never felt that consequential. I'd beat a location and then move on, and in each one there was so much going on it became easy to forget that they are going to join my eventual army! So finishing the game by going into battle with all of Ferelden beside me was pretty awesome.

Just beating Golems of Amgarrak felt like an achievement, too!

Playing Witch Hunt with my retcon revived Warden who romanced Morrigan just to get to the end and step through the Mirror with her.

In DA2, probably the most moving moment was actually the end of Legacy, when the "ghost" of Hawke's mother comforts him - especially meaningful after Bethany died in the Deep Roads.

Like many people, I wasn't quite as enamored with the story in DA2. However, I admit to being very pleasantly surprised when it turned out that Meredith was being driven mad by the lyrium idol. I mean it makes total sense - just like everyone else who got close to the idol, she was power hungry, paranoid, aggresive, and generally insane. I totally should have seen it coming! I didn't, but it really tied a bow around Act 1 and Act 3, making them feel like the part of the same story. Also, the statues coming alive was totally awesome. Also too, I played a Shadow/Assassin DW rogue and I beat Meredith using Assassinate, which just felt right.

When my IRL self found out there was indeed romance aspects to the game.

And it included options for women.

And the the options for females were absolutely fabulous.

I couldn't believe what I found so i ended up googling my suspicions to make sure it was true and not getting my hopes up only to be dashed.

DAO:
- The Landsmeet and taking down Loghain.
- As a Cousland especially, killing Howe.
- The City Elf Female Origin, where you stick a blade through Vaughn
- The Denerim guard sergeant who wonders why people attack you
- Zevran/Wynne party banters. Also Morrigan/Sten. Alistair/Morrigan. Oghren/anybody.
- The two mages breaking the fourth wall just before you enter the Circle Tower.
- Saving the whole town at Redcliff.
- Leliana singing
- The Architect. What a great character. Better villain than the Archdemon.

DA2:
- Isabela and Aveline. Especially during the quest where Aveline is trying to hit on Donnic. Gold.
- The Arishok. Palpably powerful character. Much more interesting than Orsino or arguably even Meredith.
- Rivalries with party members. Disagreeing with them felt so right in certain cases.
- The option to execute Anders. Felt hollow, but worth it.
- The sense that no matter what you did, events were spiralling out of your control. That made the game feel...real.
- Varric and his love for Bianca.
- Isabela coming back with the Tome.
- The people you'd helped coming to the fight against Meredith. Zevran, Donnic etc.
- Varric and Cassandra's interaction during the interrogation. I quite liked the framing device.
- The sense of family. Botched mid-game with your mother's death, but very good till then.
- Even the prologue, seeing Aveline defend Wesley.

Ehh heaps more that will come to me later I'm sure.

watched scene - Leliana singing
played sequence - escape from fort draken (or whatever) - my female city elf had left Alistair behind and chose not to wait instead using a mixture of cunning, feminine wiles, combat skills, stealth and disguise to slip out.
also there was the intensity of the female city elf origin.
Also, there was her frustration in the dialogues from uncooperative teammates and casual racists..
such as the the RedCliffe smith...first, after the smith's comment on her race (something like "I couldn't tell you were an elf through the door") and after promising to rescue his daughter, (and while still in earshot of the smith) Sten does this "Is this another promise you don't intend to keep?"..

- The Human Noble origin. It was very sad and emotionally involving, and really set the tone for the rest of the game and kept me motivated more than any other origin IMHO.

- The Dwarf Noble origin. It's not as emotionally involving or well-integrated into the main game as the HN origin, but it's by far the most entertaining and intriguing origin to play.

- Ostagar. The entire place is as grim and depressing as it gets. I really feel like there's no hope every time I reach that part of the game, especially off the heels of the HN origin.

- Loghain's betrayal. Another very sad moment. I actually tear up a little bit every time I watch it, especially the part where Duncan dies.

- Leliana's song. It's just a beautifully done and emotional scene. it also provides the best view of the Warden's face in the entire game.

- A Paragon of Her Kind. One of the greatest, most masterfully done quests in any RPG I've ever played. The Dead Trenches were especially memorable (and disturbing).

- Crowning Bhelen as a DN Warden. Siding with Harrowmont and then crowning your brother at the end pries a rare emotional concession out of him that almost makes me forgive him for being a douchebag.

- Killing Howe as a HN Warden. Similar to Bhelen and the DN, I like to use the persuade option to pry an emotional concession out of him, acknowledging what your character has become and how proud your father would be.

- The death of the Archdemon. I'm especially moved by Alistair doing the sacrifice after "breaking up" with the female Warden. It's the most poignant moment of the game's romances.

- The post-coronation. I was very sad to leave, knowing that the game was over (not counting Awakening and the two other sub-par DLCs). I'd gladly have kept playing indefinitely. I suppose a new save file will suffice.

DA:O Returning to Ostagar and finding Cailin... Crucified. My blood simultaneously boiled and froze.

DA2 Momma Hawke dying in the Hero's arms! No matter how big a jerk I'm playing, I give that moment the respect it deserves.

I was the only family member at my mom's side when she passed away in the hospital, so I have a soft spot for the moment.

DAO:The Joining, battle of Ostagar, and cutscene just before seige of denerim where the armies are marching and Arl Eamon is doing the voice over (that cutscene gives me goosebumps because I think back to my warden's humble origin story and now they are leading armies)

DA2: Qunari siege of Kirkwall culminating with the duel with the Arishock (in my opinion Act 2 is th best act), final confrontation between Orsino and Meredith just before Anders blows up the Chantry (finally get to see a tense situation boil over and explode), Legacy DLC when Corypheus wakes and it is revealed that he was one of the magisters that tespassed on the golden city brining about the blights. That was huge.

My favorite moments in the games:

1. The battle at Ostagar. The cutscene evoked terror in my bones as the darkspawn charged. The hopelessness of Cailan's and Duncan's deaths. Duncan seeing that the fires were lit and there was no help coming. Brilliant!

2. The Gauntlet. I've been many different origins, and each time meeting my significant person makes me cry. And then the wonder of seeing Andrastte's Ashes, knowing that she was real, knowing that it all happened.

3. Alistair's entire romance. It was touching without being saccharine. To see him fall in love for the first time. It was, fine!

4. The Deep Roads. Yes, it was long. It was never ending. But Origins Deep Roads were scary and claustrophobic and grand and terrorizing. The Deep Roads in subsequent dlc's and DA II have never been quite as good.

5. The Landsmeet and what led up to it. The sweet satisfaction of killing Howe as a noble. The justice of executing the traitor. The terror of being locked up in the dungeon and trying to break free or wait for help.

6. Alistair's speech at the gates of Denerim. Alistair was never more the king than at that moment, proving that we he must, he could lead well indeed!

7. Saying farewell in the Throne room at the end. I have been there many, many times in many many characters, and I still get a lump in my throat as I move to the door. I so loved my companions and the adventure was over. Just finished a playtrhough last week and still got the lump....great writing.

DA: 2

8. The Fenris rivalmance, particularly as he tells me that "Only the living know victory. Fight well!" and other things.

9. The boss fight at the foot of the steps leading to the docks. Hardest battle in the game IMHO. I hate going up against that blood mage. The battles after that one are anticlimatic.

10. The Anders decision. Both his and yours. No matter how you choose, it's dramatic.

Those are my top ten.

(And the never ending night battle at Redcliffe. First time through, my mouth was dry and my adrenaline was pumping.) [Edited to add content]
