Fluffy bunnies and butterfly's does not conflict and good narrative make.

You think frodo would have bothered doing anything with the ring if nothing had happened to the Shire?

If you're happy and comfortable, why the hell would you sacrifice that to go off and kill yourself fighting legions of monsters?

I played two and they were sad; therefore the other 4 are sad.

Hurray for logical thinking! :)

Ha jk, don't mean to be rude... but, yeah, is there anything wrong with having a sad story anyway?

Because every hero needs to have a DARK AND TRAGIC PAST.

or rather that seems to be the theme these days.

This is gonna be a trilogy and suffering is part of trying to make a better life. Without struggle there is no victory. There are good moments to be had and not all sad moments. If the ending (which I haven't completed) ends bad, remember it's not the end. There will be two more games made if things keep going good for the franchise.

Well, pat of the reason I suppose is that the main character in this story (hey, thats YOU)is supposed to be thrust into the grey wardens with little choice and no one else to turn to. It is had to be put in that position if you are stil in line for the dwarven throne or your father has an army at his disposal or whatever.

the biggest difficulty is when you cannot determine what is good or bad, happy or sad because you became tranquil

Well then shame on you for not shouldering all the blame.

Never did get those forty sovereigns...

Is this speculation or has it been stated by staff? Sounds good to me :D I hope they're making them with the same engine though and not starting from scratch.

City Dwarf, Dawlish Elf, and City Elf aren't necessarily "bad". Hell, the City Dwarf is downright good.

Sure you've got a bit of a downturn as someone dies in the Dawlish Elf origin, but ultimately its a cause of the over-arching problem with the world you have to deal with as opposed to a more personal note like the other origins. Plus you also find ruins that could teach you more about Elven history in time. Sure, you're pretty much in a live or die decision for the Wardens, but overall...

City Elf, if you take the slay the bad guy and rescue the chick path leads to losing someone, but its a relatively minor person and you end up bringing down a disgusting tyrant and get off scot free (with all the blame on you) by joining the Wardens.

Its so the emo crowd will play through, and buy DLC, rather than have an excuse to slit their wrists at how happy the beginning is.

-.- Dark does not mean emo by default.

If you want a happy game, I'd suggest not purchasing one where the logo is made up of blood hmm?

Well, something has to drive you into the Wardens. Really, that's the fact of it. These characters haven't got a choice, really, by the time all's said and done - since that part needs to happen for the game to happen.

But...  Blood is a sign of life!  Passion!  Striving victoriously against the odds!

That and the topic was 'Why are the origins all so bloody depressing'.

My game was neither sad, nor depressing.  Nor particularly dark for that matter.  Quite an upbeat ending actually.

Because Life's a **** then you die....

If everything was going great for you then you wouldn't go out on suicide mission to combat the Blight now would you?

Because the Grey Wardens, eminently conscious of the fact that becoming a Grey Warden is a de facto death sentence, as a general rule don't pick up happy people.
